Apr 04, 2025 · Sean McCarthyWe have stayed at the gate house for several years. It was always amazing. My husband had a kidney transplant so we weren't able to go for the last 3 years. We rented it in May. The hot water heater broke. We had 2 broken kitchen chairs. Cable only had a few channels. The one bedroom had no cable, the other had no TV. The bed was broken. They had to come put plywood on it. You weren't able to swim in the lake or rent paddle boats or canoes because they had no lifeguard. The store closed at 5 so you couldn't use the game room. The staff parked behind our car in the driveway twice a day to put their kids on the bus. We paid for a paint and sip. They made the mimosas with fruit punch sunny d. They were late setting up and only provided 3 colors of paint and no way to clean brushes. There was so much more wrong. I made them aware of my complaints and they didn't care. For the privilege they charged me $184 a day. We will not go back.
May 22, 2025 · Terry SchockMy boyfriend and I stayed last weekend for the first time. While we did enjoy our stay, there were a few things that will keep us from returning. We drove separate because I drove down right from work. I parked on our site and the security told us we could not park two vehicles on the site and to park my car in the overflow lot. We did and when we checked out, they charged us extra for having two vehicles. We were never told we had to pay for a second vehicle, just that it needed to be moved. The first night there, my boyfriend's parents wanted to stop by for an hour and the security gave them a hard time and told them they needed to pay for parking as well as a visitor fee. The security gauds were rude towards us when trying to explain the situation. I could understand if we were over the 6 person per site rule, but its ridiculous to charge for an hour visit. The little store on site closes at 5 pm on the weekends, super inconvenient if you realize you need something. They only offer 30 mins of free wifi, after that you have to pay. Other campgrounds offer free wifi for all guests. One thing I did like was that they picked up trash everyday and the campground was clean.
Jun 13, 2025 · Nicole HartmanWe were just there and check out was this morning. The Beach family. Honestly, The staff was rude and seemed annoyed. We came in with our kids for a weekend trip. My husband and I have stayed here the year before with no issues. The water smells like nasty sewer water. So we were afraid to shower and use the water at all. There were ants all over the counter and around the bunk beds where our kids were sleeping. My husband went to check in and to tell the office lady about the ant problem she acted very annoyed. She said yes there are ants so keep your food stored away. How dare you tell your guests that. We are paying to stay there for the weekend and you should be keeping your rental units bug free. Would you stay in a bug infested house or cabin? There was obviously an infestation and they know about it. Also, the lady said there wasn’t a maintenance person on hand so basically oh well there is nothing they could do anyway. The staff is just rude and too busy smoking to care for their guests. We will never go back!! If you’re cutting corners with ants and don’t care about that what else are you secretly allowing and not caring about. The nasty water smell is also gross and completely unacceptable.I read other reviews with similar experiences so I know we aren’t alone.
