Nestled in the scenic landscape of Broome County, **Pine Crest Campground** in Windsor, NY, offers a traditional camping experience that many locals appreciate for its friendly atmosphere and relatively quiet setting. It’s a place where you can unwind, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with fellow campers.
Pine Crest Campground is known for fostering a welcoming environment, largely due to its approachable owners and a community of campers. Whether you're looking for a peaceful weekend retreat or considering a longer stay, this campground provides a comfortable base for exploring the beauty of upstate New York. It aims to be a home away from home for those who cherish the simple joys of camping.
---Conveniently situated at **280 NY-79, Windsor, NY 13865, USA**, Pine Crest Campground offers an accessible location for residents across New York State, particularly those in the Southern Tier region. Windsor is a charming town in Broome County, placing the campground within easy reach of major population centers while still providing that desirable feeling of being "away from it all."
The campground's direct access from NY-79 makes it straightforward to navigate for both RVs and vehicles towing trailers. This state route connects to larger highways, ensuring a smooth journey from various points in New York. For instance, travelers from the Binghamton area can reach the campground with a relatively short drive, making it an excellent option for spontaneous weekend trips or extended stays without a lengthy commute. Its location also offers reasonable proximity to attractions and services in Binghamton, providing convenience for restocking supplies or exploring local dining and entertainment options.
It's worth noting, as one past visitor mentioned, that the final stretch of road leading into the campground (approximately 1/4 mile) is dirt and can be rough and dusty. This is a common characteristic of many campgrounds seeking a more rustic feel, and while it adds to the secluded charm, it's something to be aware of, especially during or after inclement weather.
---Pine Crest Campground focuses on providing essential services to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience for its guests. While it maintains a somewhat rustic charm, it offers key amenities designed to meet the needs of various types of campers. Based on visitor feedback, here's an overview of the services you can typically expect:
- **Campsites for Various Needs:** The campground accommodates different camping styles, likely offering sites suitable for both tents and RVs. While some sites may be primarily grass-covered, visitors can expect designated areas for setting up their camping equipment.
- **Friendly and Helpful Management:** A recurring theme in positive reviews is the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, often referred to as "Sue and Jim." This personal touch significantly contributes to a welcoming atmosphere.
- **Quiet Environment:** Campers frequently highlight the campground's quiet nature, making it an ideal spot for those looking to relax and escape noise, rather than a party atmosphere.
- **Long-Term/Seasonal Stays:** It appears that a significant portion of the campground's clientele consists of seasonal campers. This suggests that the campground is set up to accommodate longer-term stays, which can create a stable and familiar community among regulars.
- **Basic Restroom Facilities:** While not explicitly detailed, standard campgrounds typically provide basic restroom facilities. However, visitors should inquire directly about the specific amenities, such as modern bathhouses with showers and sinks, as some campgrounds opt for more rudimentary options to maintain a rustic feel.
Prospective campers, especially those with larger RVs or specific needs regarding site leveling or utilities, should always contact the campground directly to confirm available services and site conditions prior to booking.
---Pine Crest Campground stands out for several features and highlights that contribute to its appeal among New York campers looking for a particular kind of outdoor experience:

- **Return Visitor Appeal:** The positive experiences of campers often lead to intentions of returning, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the overall environment and management.
- **Rustic Charm:** While some may view certain aspects like un-graveled sites or a rough dirt road as drawbacks, these elements contribute to a more rustic and less commercialized camping feel. For campers who appreciate a back-to-basics approach, this can be a significant highlight.
- **Seasonal Camping Focus:** The presence of many seasonal campers suggests a stable and established community. This can be a benefit for new campers looking for a welcoming and familiar environment, or for those considering a longer-term stay themselves.
It's important for potential visitors to align their expectations with the campground's rustic nature, especially regarding site conditions and road access, to fully appreciate its unique charm and strengths.
---Specific, time-sensitive promotions or special offers are not publicly detailed in the provided information. However, many privately-owned campgrounds like Pine Crest Campground often have various ways they might offer value or incentives to their guests. These could include:
- **Off-Season Rates:** During the shoulder seasons (e.g., early spring or late fall), campgrounds might offer reduced rates to encourage bookings when demand is lower.
- **Weekly or Monthly Discounts:** For campers looking to stay longer, especially seasonal campers, discounts for extended stays are very common. Given the mention of many seasonal campers, this is a highly probable offering.
- **Holiday Weekend Packages:** While not necessarily a "discount," some campgrounds create special packages or events around major holidays (e.g., Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day) that might include themed activities or slightly different pricing structures.
- **First-Time Camper Incentives:** Occasionally, campgrounds might offer a small discount or a perk for new visitors to encourage them to try the experience.
- **Loyalty Programs:** For repeat visitors, some campgrounds might have a system that rewards returning guests, though this is less common for smaller, family-run operations.

Pine Crest Campground Reviews
We had a great time it was fun and wasn't too loud. It was quiet, everybody was friendly. The owners were awesome, they're friendly. They were so helpful. Definitely, will go back. Thank you sue and jim
Jun 16, 2025 · Margaret depewJust an " ok" campground. Overpriced for the quality of camping. Site didn't even have as much as a gravel base, parked on grass covered tree roots. Appears most campers are seasonal with a lot of shoddy additions. The road in is dirt and very rough for about a 1/4 mile. Very dusty. Can't imagine what it's like if raining.
Apr 23, 2025 · Don WoodRV Park. Wonderful, indoor swimming pool! Great general store with ice cream. Fine trails and golf carts.
Apr 23, 2025 · Kim GuymonI will start off by mentioning that the Owners, Jim and Susan, are absolutely one of the kindest people we've ever met. They go way above and beyond to take care of you, your family and anything that you could possibly need.My family and friends stayed here for about a couple months and we had some minor problems with our 5th wheels. Jim and Bobby, their helper, came to the rescue each and every time to help and lend a hand. I am so grateful there are still wonderful people like them left in this crazy world. We had so much with the activities they had planned for the fall. We participated in the Chili cookoff and my Mom won 1st place. Hay rides for the family and kids in October. Fun and spacious playground and basketball court. Beautiful views and tranquility. They just expanded and have more sites available. Settled right up against the river where you can kayak, paddle board, or take your boat. We spend so many days by the water where my son loved throwing rocks in the water. This is a little gem. It is safe and people/campers are always friendly. Full hookups even off season. Open all year round.Thank you Jim, Susan, and Bobby! We will see you again soon
