Hersheypark Camping Resort

1200 Sweet St, Hummelstown, PA 17036, USA

4.0
We have stayed twice over the course of a few weeks. We stayed in the Midway Meadows section, both times backing up to the freight train tracks. The tracks are VERY active with multiple trains per hour, so if you choose these sites be prepared with a white noise machine in your trailer, it still will not be enough. Our second stay we had the chance to avoid the skunk family that traveled through the sites without regard for people or animals. This made the trip very unpleasant since we have two dogs and we were not able to sit out and enjoy the full camping experience.Overall, the sites are okay, but not worthy of “resort” status. Most of the front sites are very tight and all fire rings risk the adjacent sites camper get scorched if the family behind your unit is inconsiderate, we did not have this problem but can see it being an issue with others. Our interaction with the staff was okay except when we went to the registration desk and were ignored by both staff members for over five minutes while they did something on their desktops, ended up being helped by a separate staff member in the end. While this campground is associated with Hersheypark it seems that is in name only and not the experience. We used the shuttle and it was excellent! Super kid friendly and lots for the kids to do and enjoy. Overall only three stars due to the staff inconsideration. - Zachery Pickard

Hersheypark Camping Resort Introduce

For Pennsylvanians looking for the ultimate family adventure that combines the joys of camping with the thrill of a world-class amusement park, Hersheypark Camping Resort in Hummelstown, PA, offers a uniquely convenient and engaging experience. While it may not be a secluded wilderness retreat, this resort campground provides a direct gateway to the sweet delights of Hersheypark and its surrounding attractions, making it an ideal choice for families who want to maximize their fun without extensive travel between accommodations and entertainment.

Hersheypark Camping Resort is designed to cater specifically to families visiting the "Sweetest Place on Earth." It offers a range of accommodations, from spacious RV sites to comfortable cabins, providing options for various budgets and preferences. The primary draw for many is its direct association with Hersheypark, evidenced by the excellent shuttle service that transports guests effortlessly to the park entrance. This convenience is a significant highlight, allowing families to avoid parking hassles and truly immerse themselves in the Hershey experience from the moment they arrive.

The resort aims to be a hub of activity, particularly for children. Past visitors frequently commend the kid-friendly atmosphere and the abundance of things for younger guests to do and enjoy on-site. This focus on family entertainment ensures that even when not at the park, there's plenty to keep everyone engaged and happy, contributing to a well-rounded vacation experience for Pennsylvania families.

However, it is important to provide a balanced overview, incorporating feedback from actual visitors. Some campers have noted that certain sections of the campground, particularly the "Midway Meadows" area, are located very close to active freight train tracks. This can result in frequent and loud train noise, which may disrupt the peaceful camping atmosphere, even with noise-canceling efforts. Additionally, while the sites are generally functional, some front sites can be tight, and the placement of fire rings may require consideration for neighboring campers' comfort. These are practical considerations for those planning their stay.

Furthermore, while the resort strives for high service standards, some interactions with staff, particularly at the registration desk, have been described as less than ideal, impacting the overall perception of "resort" quality. It's clear that while the location and family-friendly amenities are strong points, guests' experiences with operational aspects can vary. Despite these points, many families find the convenience and array of activities to outweigh these concerns, especially when planning a visit centered around Hersheypark. The ability to have "plenty of room for our family of four" in a cabin and its "great location" right across from the main building and pool, with a short walk to the shuttle, are significant benefits highlighted by satisfied guests.

For Pennsylvanians, Hersheypark Camping Resort offers a unique opportunity to combine the joys of a theme park vacation with the casual comfort of camping. It’s a place where you can extend the magic of Hershey into your overnight stay, creating a comprehensive and memorable family getaway right here in our sweet home state.

Location and Accessibility

Hersheypark Camping Resort is conveniently located at 1200 Sweet Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036. This prime address places it directly within the "Sweetest Place on Earth," Hershey, Pennsylvania, making it exceptionally accessible for visitors, especially those primarily focused on experiencing Hersheypark and its associated attractions. Hummelstown is nestled in Dauphin County, offering a central Pennsylvania location that is within a reasonable drive for many residents across the state.

The resort’s most significant location advantage is its immediate proximity to Hersheypark itself. While it isn't within walking distance for most, the resort provides an excellent and highly praised complimentary shuttle service that transports guests directly to the Hersheypark entrance. This eliminates the need for park parking fees and the hassle of navigating congested lots, a major convenience for families.

Beyond Hersheypark, the resort's location offers easy access to a wealth of other Hershey attractions, including Hershey's Chocolate World, Hershey Gardens, Hershey Story Museum, and the Giant Center. This allows campers to effortlessly explore the diverse entertainment and educational offerings that define the Hershey area. Major roadways in Central Pennsylvania provide straightforward routes to Hummelstown, ensuring a relatively stress-free journey for travelers arriving by car or RV.

While a portion of the campground (Midway Meadows section) is located near active freight train tracks, which can be a source of noise, the overall accessibility to the main attractions remains a key feature. For those planning a Hersheypark-centric vacation, the resort's location and shuttle service are truly invaluable, providing a seamless and enjoyable experience.
