Wagon Wheel RV Campground Introduce
For Montanans planning a trip to the incomparable geysers and wildlife of Yellowstone National Park, securing a convenient and affordable campsite near the West Entrance is always a priority. Wagon Wheel RV Campground offers a strategic and compelling solution, positioning itself as the most centrally located full hookup RV park in the heart of West Yellowstone, Montana. It provides a highly valuable combination of essential RV amenities and unparalleled access to the gateway town’s services.
Often described as a "cute mom and pop RV park," Wagon Wheel delivers a practical, full-service camping experience where location is the key selling point. The campground features sites equipped with full hookups—electric, water, and sewer—a significant convenience for travelers. While the park maintains a compact, friendly atmosphere, which means spots are close, the management, known for its helpful staff, offers services like ground guidance to assist with parking, ensuring even big rigs can settle in.
The unique advantage of Wagon Wheel is its integration into the town of West Yellowstone. Unlike campgrounds outside the city limits, a stay here means you are literally surrounded by the town’s amenities: restaurants, groceries, coffee shops, and local entertainment are all within easy walking distance. This allows guests to minimize driving outside of their park excursions and maximize their time enjoying the town's atmosphere or the natural wonders just minutes away. This prime location also places visitors right by local events, such as the Vintage Cars Show and Mountain Man Handmade Crafts Fair held in early August, adding a layer of local culture to the Yellowstone adventure.
Wagon Wheel RV Campground provides a pragmatic and budget-conscious choice for those who value proximity and full utilities over sprawling wilderness spaces. It acknowledges the necessity of modern comforts—offering Wi-Fi, public showers, and restrooms—while placing the entirety of West Yellowstone and the entrance to the National Park literally at your doorstep. It’s the perfect home base for Montana explorers who want to be in the middle of the action while maintaining a comfortable, full-service RV stay.
The location of Wagon Wheel RV Campground is its defining characteristic, offering convenience that few other parks near the area can match. It is not situated on the outskirts, but rather right in the middle of the lively West Yellowstone town center.

For any RVer visiting the area, choosing Wagon Wheel RV Campground is primarily about choosing unbeatable location and maximum convenience. While some competing campgrounds offer more spacious sites or additional resort-style amenities, the Wagon Wheel's position—just blocks from the Yellowstone West Entrance and in the very heart of West Yellowstone—is a unique and valuable asset.
This location saves precious vacation time. Instead of commuting 15 to 30 minutes just to grab groceries or enjoy a local dinner, everything is just a short, pleasant walk away. This level of accessibility is particularly beneficial after a long day of driving or exploring Yellowstone's vast interior. Moreover, the full hookups available at every site remove the logistical worries of dry camping, a necessary consideration when staying close to the National Park.
Ultimately, the Wagon Wheel is worth choosing for the discerning traveler who prioritizes full utility access, a competitive price point for a prime location, and an authentic, low-key, in-town experience over isolation. The ability to walk to a local bar with music, shop for souvenirs, and be among the first in line at the park entrance in the morning makes this "little campground" a highly efficient and enjoyable base for a true Montana adventure.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute mom and pop RV park, very close spots, but Harry, the office person, did come out to ground guide back into my spot. Laundry room is much to be desired, very small and dryers need to be small loads or have to run twice to dry. You can walk around the neighborhood, there's a bar on the corner with outdoor seating and music...
June 15 · Pebbles GroveLittle campground with full hookup sites. Prime location in the center of town. Surrounded by restaurants, groceries, coffees, and boutique shops. Price is ok but in Yellowstone I found this camp has the lowest rate on a full hookup site. They have Wi-Fi and laundry. And many cute squirrels in pine trees🌳 if you come at the beginning of August like I did, West Yellowstone also hosts Vintage Cars Show and Mountain Man Handmade Crafts Fair. Both are 10 mins walking from this camp.
August 04 · Nancy LiuWe reserved a campsite in January, 2025 for a six week stay at Wagon Wheel RV Campground beginning mid-July, 2025 and paid a hefty 50% deposit. The week before we were scheduled to arrive, I emailed the campground manager to confirm our reservation. Jenny assured me everything was in order for our arrival.Upon our arrival to Wagon Wheel RV Campground, my wife and I found our site to be occupied by another camper. The manager apologized and offered for us to stay on another site........unfortunately, the site we were offered was WAY too small for our 44 foot fifth wheel and had low hanging tree branches that scraped the top of our rig when we attempted to pull onto the site.We insisted that the campground manager refund all of our deposit, which he did.........and we would look elsewhere for another campground to stay at.We ended up finding a very nice campsite at a campground just outside of West Yellowstone for the six weeks we had planned on being in the area. We are very glad things worked out the way they did. Wagon Wheel RV Campground was a dump, with small, cramped sites, shared utilities, long term campers with junk packed all around their sites.I would never consider staying at Wagon Wheel RV Campground ever again..........and I would recommend against you staying there as well. There are many campgrounds in the area that have so much more to offer. Be warned. Look elsewhere when choosing a campground in the West Yellowstone, MT area.
July 31 · William LamyClean, good location. Very minimal amenities. No camp host or camp store. spaces are very close together. Laundry room usually occupied by whoever washes hotel linens and unattended .Good luck being able to wash and/or dry your clothes. Probably would not stay here again.
August 07 · Jennifer PerkinsWhen my wife and I reserved a spot we specified we had a 40 foot toyhauler. Web sight said pull through spots are 60 feet. When we got there the spot we had was not 60 feet let alone 40 feet. There was barely any room for our slides. My trailer took the entire spot and had to get creative on parking our pickup. They told us we could park it in the hotel parking lot. No thanks. The hook ups are a joke. You share your power and sewer with your neighbor. When we left we went to dump our tanks it leaked. Not out of my connections but their plumping and vent. It also backed up into the neighbors hose and leaked out of their plumping as well. I don't recommend using their hookups and waiting till a dump station. It is not a very quiet spot either. I could hear the traffic from Hwy 20 and the noise from the Bar down the street(which has great food but that's another review). The good is its location. Very easy to get anywhere. We toured Yellowstone on our motorcycle. I can not comment on the restrooms as we use our own and shower in our RV. One thing I did notice and thought was peculiar was it seemed like most of the spots were filled with their own trailers. All of them had a WW on the front of them including some in the back in a storage area for their trailers. I do feel like most of the reviews were wrote by the family and friends of the Owner. I will add photos when I have better internet.
