Wishon Village RV Park Introduce
For Californians seeking that perfect blend of rustic mountain charm and comfortable amenities, a true gem awaits high in the Sierra Nevada: Wishon Village RV Park. Nestled at an elevation of approximately 6,600 feet, this family-owned and operated campground has been a cherished retreat since 1960, drawing generations of visitors back year after year. It's more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's a community where friendly faces and stunning natural beauty combine to create truly memorable experiences.
Wishon Village is renowned for its commitment to providing a clean, quiet, and rejuvenating environment. Visitors consistently rave about the exceptionally well-maintained facilities, the sparkling clean restrooms, and the genuinely helpful and kind staff. As one happy camper noted, "Wishon Village is one of a kind. We escape here often to recharge ourselves." Whether you're looking to cast a line in pristine mountain reservoirs, embark on challenging High Sierra hikes, or simply relax amidst towering pines and fresh mountain air, Wishon Village offers a welcoming base for all your Sierra adventures. It’s a testament to the power of a family-run business that prioritizes guest experience and fosters a sense of belonging in a breathtaking natural setting.
Wishon Village RV Park is strategically located at 66500 McKinley Grove Rd, Shaver Lake, CA 93664, USA. This puts it deep within the Sierra National Forest, approximately 75 miles from Fresno and a significant drive past Shaver Lake. While the journey to Wishon Village is part of the adventure, it's important for visitors to be prepared for mountain roads.
To reach the park from Highway 168 (which leads to Shaver Lake), you'll turn onto Dinkey Creek Road and then McKinley Grove Road. The drive from the Shaver Lake turn-off can be 40 minutes or more, involving winding mountain roads. While the roads are generally well-maintained, large RVs should exercise caution and be aware of the route. The elevation of 6,600 feet contributes to cooler temperatures, even in summer, making it a refreshing escape from the valley heat. The relative remoteness ensures a peaceful atmosphere and spectacular dark skies for stargazing, far from city lights. Despite being nestled in the mountains, Wishon Village serves as a gateway to iconic areas like the John Muir Wilderness and is conveniently located just a mile from Wishon Reservoir and seven miles from Courtright Reservoir, making it a prime spot for water activities and exploring the vast High Sierra. Given the mountain location, cell service is typically non-existent past Shaver Lake, so downloading directions beforehand and preparing for a digital detox are highly recommended.

Jun 29, 2024 · Michelle HerreraI recently tent camped and fished at Wishon for a total of nine days. I was treated to a wonderful Four hours of fishing on the Wishon Village RV Pontoon boat where Gordon was at the controls the entire four hours. Gordon Kent is part of the Wishon Village staff. He was excellent in providing me with a wonderful experience of fishing! He was very friendly and very helpful in providing me with new fishing skills. Wishon Village has great staff that go out of their way to help make your vacation at Wishon Village a memorable experience. I have spent over 25 years vacationing at the Village in our travel trailer and camped in a tent with many fond memories! I would recommend visiting this family owned RV Park and Campground.
Sep 01, 2023 · Frank TelaroWishon is always great! One of my families favorite destinations for vacation. The lake is beautiful, and the RV park is positioned perfectly between courtwright and wishon for fun filled days of fishing and nature.
Jun 26, 2024 · damon nilssonGreat place for rather senior ppl if you prefer to spend time on the camping. Showers smell clean but appear not so encouragingly. The biggest downside are wasps (yellow jackets) - it’s a plaque! Impossible to eat outside.Lake is around half hour walk (take more time if with kids) form camping walking on a main road. The trail through a forest is not the easiest one (you need to follow some piles of stones that show a way) and leaves you not at the lake but at some private parking. Lake is not really to swim in (too cold) and the beach doesn’t exist (only rocks). Not much to do in the area. Be careful for the rattlesnakes!! Listen close they can hide on the side of the road while you walk to the lake.Plus for the store - quite well equipped (butter, frozen food, snacks). Staff is very friendly !!!
Aug 25, 2019 · Paulinathe campground was nice and we'll kept, we had a pretty spot that was shady most of the day and back to the woods. the people in the store were nice and helpful and answered the phone when we couldn't quite find our way getting lost seemed like 5 times. seriously folks don't listen to your GPS. If you're on McKinley just keep driving you'll find it. Even if your GPS says it was five miles behind you. Yes sure like any other Campground you can hear the neighbors play their TVs too loud and The kids screaming across the campground. I didn't care for the plague of wasps that keeps you from eating anything outside. our next door neighbor for some ungodly reason thought it was the thing to do to burn a full massive campfire literally all day everyday and late into the night every night and it's 90 freaking degrees. not to mention we had to keep our windows closed the whole time because he kept us smoked out. obviously somebody who lived there since he had a literal 6 foot high wall of wood cut that was 10 feet long. lastly..even though this is near the Wishon reservoir don't plan on spending any time at the lake unless you have a boat. And getting in the lake is a nightmare, to steep and rocky, you'll end up going to one of the other lakes like Courtright. everything is far away.
