For our dedicated service members, retirees, DoD civilians, and their authorized guests here in California, finding a convenient, affordable, and secure place to stay is often a top priority. Travis FamCamp Office, located right on Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, offers just that. It's not your typical rustic wilderness campground; instead, it provides a unique and practical lodging solution, especially for those in transit, on temporary duty, or looking for an extended stay in Northern California with the benefits of a military installation.
Travis FamCamp serves as a vital resource for the military community, offering a range of RV and limited tent sites with essential amenities. While it might have a more "trailer park" feel to some, its primary value lies in its security, affordability, and unparalleled access to base facilities like the Commissary and Exchange. Our goal with this article is to provide a clear, engaging, and factual overview of Travis FamCamp, ensuring you, our California military community, have all the necessary information to plan your stay. We'll explore its location, the services it offers, its unique features and considerations, and ultimately, why it remains a suitable choice for eligible individuals and families in our Golden State.
Travis FamCamp Office is strategically located at 201 Travis Ave, Travis AFB, CA 94535, USA. Its prime position just inside the main gate of Travis Air Force Base makes it exceptionally convenient for military personnel and authorized guests arriving on base. This placement offers immediate access and enhances the security of your stay, as you are within the protected confines of the installation.
Fairfield, California, serves as the local community surrounding Travis AFB. This city provides a range of services and conveniences just outside the base gates. Furthermore, the FamCamp's location in Northern California offers excellent accessibility to many popular regional attractions. For instance, it's approximately 20 minutes from Vallejo, 24 minutes from Napa, 39 minutes from Sacramento, and 54 minutes from Stockton. This makes it a central hub for exploring the renowned Napa Valley wine region, enjoying local attractions like the Jelly Belly Factory, or even venturing further afield to cities like San Francisco, which is about an hour's drive away.
Access to the campground requires eligibility for base access, typically for active-duty military, retirees, reservists, National Guard, DoD civilians, and sponsored guests. Upon arrival, visitors will need to navigate base security. The campground's proximity to the main gate simplifies this process, but a valid military ID or appropriate pass is essential. While the base is an airfield and can be windy, which is expected, the convenience of the location within a secure environment is a significant draw for many.

Travis FamCamp Office Reviews
Nice Commissary and BX. This FamCamp is located just inside the main gate and had laundry available. We were in the generic section with very little shade or green grass. There was another section that I think was longer term with bushes and trees. We were right next to the ball fields where the active duty did their morning group PT. Of course it's windy here all the time - no surprise since that's why this airfield even exists. One odd thing I've never seen - the electric boxes are actually pad-locked and you have to call a phone number to get the code to unlock it and then "immediately" return the lock to the front office. Visit Napa for wine tasting - but now it's become expensive with most places at $55 to $150 per person and they want reservations. Don't forget to get a tour at the Jelly Belly factory.
Jun 05, 2025 · Bryan SymonsWorst fam camp I've stayed at. We have been traveling the US and have stayed at many military fam camps. This one is not mowed. Rules are not followed. It's more of a trailer park with permanent campers and a nasty trailer. E6 military members are paid $3k a month BHA are taking advantage of tax payers by renting spots long term and living here. Lots of dogs in fences. Cats roaming freely. Dog park has tree cutting piles up and overgrown.
Apr 09, 2022 · Damon GatesGood for military retirees. Good for the price, nothing special but convenience and clean laundry and restrooms.
Jun 25, 2025 · Sheila SThe campgrounds are very nice especially the front ones called “Horseshoe.” The grounds are maintained fairly well!
May 02, 2025 · James D ScottVery grateful to have access to Travis FamCamp. I was worried plane noise or gate road noise would make day sleeping hard, honestly, haven't heard much with just basic white noise on in my RV. Have loved access to Library, BX, base dog park, commissary and cheaper gas! After 4 years of RV lofe, this has been the safest I've felt in my RV😁
