Royal Gorge / Canon City KOA Holiday Reviews
My family of 5 had a great time! We rented a cabin with the queen bedroom and bunk beds. I could not find out any information ahead of time about whether or not the pack n play for our one year old would fit in the bedroom, but thankfully it did! The updates to the newer cabins and the nice patios are really enjoyable. We also enjoyed the amenities like the pool, playground, mini golf and giant slide. It’s a great location and really pretty area! I could also tell the grounds are super well kept, there were employees outside every day pulling weeds and picking up trash.A few cons were the bedroom door not shutting all the way, when we arrived our bunk beds did not have sheets, the AC in our bedroom did not work the first night, and we encountered a rude staff member who didn’t handle some of these things very professionally. When I asked if they could do anything for us because of how badly our first night had went, they only offered us one free bundle of fire wood. I just wish someone would have been more apologetic and professional about the problems we encountered our first night there. One staff member in particular, Aaron, really went above and beyond! Was always working hard on a variety of things at the campground, was always smiling and friendly.
Jul 04, 2025 · Nate and Anna OsbornI’m writing this review because the owners and staff deserve to be acknowledged. I had to think twice about it because I don’t want to give away the secret… this place is a gem. We were there for Memorial Day weekend and the place was busy, but didn’t feel overwhelming or crowded. They put so much effort into planning fun activities for kids and adults. Our kids couldn’t get enough of the big slide. The entire staff were so pleasant and helpful. The rustic charm was welcomed and fit right in to the scenery. The camp sites have been recently renovated. They are spacious and well kept. Loved the trails, the view and proximity to town. We can always get behind a business who puts the effort in to ensure their customers have a wonderful time and these people really did. We will for sure be coming back. Very memorable trip.A suggestion: a few more toiletries in the country store would be amazing!
May 26, 2025 · Emily DavenportGreat stay here at the KOA! The giant slide is super fun! Family had a great time and enjoyed a “hay” ride being pulled around the property by a tractor. Pool was a bit chilly since it hasn’t had many days to warm up, but kids enjoyed it along with the park. Super close to plenty of activities and only a couple miles from the Royal Gorge Bridge!
Jun 01, 2025 · Ty MadsenWow — what an incredible first stay at the Royal Gorge / Canon City KOA! The staff was friendly, and the park was spotless. The RV patio sites were newer and well-designed, and even the standard full hookup sites were landscaped and offered stunning mountain views. The pool area and nature trail were perfect added touches. A fantastic RV park, conveniently located near many attractions. Thank you!
Jun 02, 2025 · Don BishopAmenities: Slides are rarely open. We stayed 5 days and my kids got to ride it one day. When they did, they had a blast. Mini golf, false advertising. The whole course was COMPLETELY covered in sticks, leaves, red ant hills, "Literally found" a pop tab from the 70's., broken down. It needs work. The playground is like time stood still in the 70's. Complete lawsuit waiting to happen (which in honesty the whole place was), my son fell off the Merry go round and got smacked in the head with the wooden seat, with rusted nails, Go Karts don't exist, cafe doesn't exist, pizza shop (never open), old Western town???, and last, DEFINITELY WORST, was the pool. It was as COLD as the South Platte, or Arkansas River at that. I put my legs in, there was no way I could get in, they went completely knumb. Too many ant hills. As nice as everyone was, there didn't seem to be much work getting done. 3days cleaned the same third of the playground. Doing what? I really don't know? The best of the place: the RV Sites are really nice, except we tent camp, VERY pet friendly with a dog run and small pens to keep them near, but locked up. The bathroom is nice, as well. The sinks and soap dispensers need fixing, but otherwise, nice for a camp site. SO MUCH POTENTIAL. It just needs a lot more love and crew. The slide would really help this place if it was open more often than just the weekends.
