So beautiful! There's really no phone service, but the trees are amazing! Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. At night the stars are so clear. You can see the milky way from here. There are bear boxes but we really only encountered deer and squirrels and chipmunks. Great trails with lots of trees provide shaded hikes. The views from the peaks are incredible. - Jennie Twitchell

Location and Accessibility: Navigating to Your Secluded Spot

Red Spur Recreation Camp is located at Curtis Ridge Rd, Hyrum, UT 84319, USA. Situated in a more remote, mountainous area, getting to the camp is part of the adventure. The journey requires some preparation and a suitable vehicle. According to visitors, the drive up can be challenging, taking approximately 1.75 hours from the main roads. A lifted SUV with 4-wheel drive is highly recommended to navigate the terrain. This is not a place for low-clearance vehicles or those without all-wheel drive capabilities, particularly in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

Despite its remote feel, the camp is surprisingly accessible for those with mobility challenges in certain areas. The facility offers a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, a thoughtful feature that allows a wider range of visitors to enjoy the natural beauty. It's important to note that once at the camp, the rugged mountain terrain means some areas may still be difficult to traverse without assistance. Given the secluded location, local users should be prepared for a complete lack of cell phone service. This is a key feature for many who come to Red Spur, as it enforces a digital detox and a true break from the outside world. It's a reminder to be self-reliant and to enjoy the present moment without the constant distractions of notifications and calls.
