Quarry Trails Campground Introduce
Welcome to Quarry Trails Campground, a distinctive and developing outdoor destination nestled in the scenic landscape of Knoxville, TN. If you're a Tennessee local seeking a rustic yet thoughtfully designed camping experience, especially suited for smaller rigs and a love for peaceful, natural surroundings, this campground offers a unique opportunity to connect with the outdoors. It's a place where the charm of boondocking meets impressive site development, creating a tranquil escape right here in East Tennessee.
Quarry Trails Campground is currently in a fascinating stage of development, offering a glimpse into its promising future. While traditional hookups are not yet in place, the campground already boasts well-defined, attractive sites that cater to those who appreciate a more self-sufficient style of camping. The emphasis here is on providing a clean, quiet, and naturally beautiful setting where you can unwind, enjoy the fresh air, and explore the unique quarry trail path.
For many Tennessee residents, finding a peaceful weekend getaway that feels remote yet is easily accessible is key. Quarry Trails Campground delivers on this, offering a chance to disconnect and embrace the serenity of nature without venturing too far from Knoxville's conveniences. It's a testament to thoughtful outdoor space creation, even in its early stages.
Quarry Trails Campground is located at 185 Wrinkle Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920, USA. This address places it within the vibrant city of Knoxville, yet surprisingly offers a feel of being removed from the urban hustle. For Tennessee locals, its location within Knoxville makes it an incredibly convenient option for a quick escape into nature without extensive travel.
While located within city limits, the campground provides access to unique natural features, specifically the quarry trail path directly accessible from the sites. This proximity to urban amenities combined with on-site natural recreation is a significant advantage. However, potential visitors, particularly those with larger rigs, should be aware of the access road. Reviews indicate that the "drive in might be unsuitable for a full size Class A, or even some long and low C's." This suggests that while generally accessible, certain large or low-clearance vehicles might face challenges. It's advisable for those with bigger rigs to consider this detail before planning their visit. For smaller rigs, truck campers, and vans, accessibility is generally good, leading to a peaceful and scenic environment that feels far removed from the city bustle, despite its address.
Quarry Trails Campground is currently in a phase of development, meaning that while it offers a great camping experience, some traditional amenities are not yet fully in place. The focus is on providing well-defined, comfortable sites for boondocking, with future plans likely to expand services.
- Boondocking/Dry Camping Sites: The campground primarily offers sites for boondocking, meaning there is no electric or on-site water hookups available at the individual campsites yet. This appeals to campers who are self-sufficient or prefer a more rustic experience.
- Dedicated Campsites: Despite being in development, the campground already features 12+ "really nice spots." Each site is thoughtfully designed with specific features, creating defined and comfortable camping areas.
- Picnic Tables: Every campsite is equipped with a picnic table, providing a convenient surface for outdoor dining, food preparation, or simply relaxing.
- Patios: Each site also includes a developed patio area, adding a touch of comfort and designated outdoor living space to the rustic setting.
- Landscaping: Visitors are impressed by the landscaping around the sites, indicating a clear effort to create an aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained environment, even without full utilities.
- Trail Access: While not a traditional "service," the direct access to the quarry trail path is a major offering, providing opportunities for walking, hiking, and exploring the unique natural features of the area.
- Cash Payment: It is noted that cash payment is appreciated, suggesting a preference for this method of transaction.
It is important for campers to be prepared for a dry camping experience and to bring all necessary water and power solutions. The charm of Quarry Trails Campground lies in its peaceful setting and well-appointed, albeit un-hooked, individual sites.
- Scenic Quarry Views: A standout feature, particularly at the lower numbered sites, are the "cool views" of the quarry. This unique geological feature provides a distinctive and visually appealing backdrop to your camping experience.
- Peaceful and Quiet Environment: Despite being located in Knoxville, the campground is noted for its tranquility. Reviewers describe it as quiet, especially sites further back (8-12), offering a genuine escape from urban noise.
- Thoughtfully Designed Sites: Even in its developing stage, the campsites are described as "really nice" with impressive amenities like built-in patios and picnic tables. This attention to detail in site design enhances the comfort and usability of each spot.
- Direct Trail Access: The ability to enjoy a "nice walk on the quarry trail path" directly from the campground is a significant highlight for nature lovers and hikers. This integrated trail system provides immediate outdoor recreation.
- Ideal for Smaller Rigs: The campground is perfectly suited for smaller RVs, truck campers, and vans. This specialization allows it to cater effectively to a growing segment of the camping community.
- "Boondocking" Charm with Amenities: It offers the appealing rustic feel of boondocking while providing developed site features like patios and picnic tables, giving campers the best of both worlds.
- Family-Oriented Atmosphere: Despite its developing nature, the campground fosters a "lovely family oriented" atmosphere, suggesting a welcoming and safe environment for families seeking a getaway.

May 02, 2025 · Michael HarrisonWhat a great weekend get away. Came here to get away for the weekend from Florida. Lovely family oriented can't compliment this place enough.
May 16, 2025 · Jessica ChamberlandBeautiful hole in the, and absolutely gem. Came up her to enjoy a concert from south Florida. I love primitive camping and this place made me feel like being in the Ritz. It has a great outlook into south Knox. Easy access to some beautiful trails up to and around the Quarry. It was closed while we where visiting. However there was another quarry 4 miles away about 13 minutes for 5 dollars a car load. There is a porta potty, and it was as clean as a whistle. Impressed me, and I've been in some outhouses or none. Good clean water to drink or clean with. 5 out of 5 Jess and her family have done some amazing work. Beautiful sites, well maintained. Thank you having us can't wait to come back. ~Jess
May 16, 2025 · RaeLynnMy fiancé and I have been on a road trip for about 3 weeks now and have stayed in 5+ campgrounds over 4 states and this is by far the best one we have stayed at. The owner is the definition of what southern hospitality means and the property is beautiful. The campsites are so spread out you pretty much have complete privacy and the quarry is only a 5-10 minute walk. Anything you could possibly need is within a 10 minute drive. 100% recommend and 100% will be back.
Sep 10, 2023 · Jake EvansWonderful urban primitive campground still being developed but our campsite was beautiful and roomy. Water access is at the entrance, clean porta can at the site. The owner is friendly and helpful. We stayed here a night in our travels through TN and it was a nice experience!
