Pine lake campground Introduce
For those of us in Massachusetts who cherish our time outdoors, whether it's in an RV or a cozy cabin, finding a campground that truly balances natural beauty with comfortable amenities can make all the difference. Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages in Sturbridge, MA, presents itself as a compelling option for a memorable getaway right here in Central Massachusetts. Recently renovated, this resort aims to offer a "perfect blend of nature and comfort," set on 200 acres with an 8-acre private lake.
However, like any popular destination, Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages evokes a range of experiences, especially from our fellow Massachusetts campers. While many appreciate the "immaculate grounds," "clean private bathrooms/showers," and "friendly staff," some recent reviews highlight evolving policies and specific challenges that are worth noting. One long-time seasonal camper expressed frustration over a new policy regarding vehicle presence on-site, noting, "Every year they change the rules." Another cabin guest, while praising "nice tiny details" like coffee and toiletries, pointed out significant issues with the lack of a grill, unreliable Wi-Fi, locked streaming on TVs, and, most critically, "the hardest worst mattresses I’ve experienced anywhere ever."
It's clear that Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages has invested in its facilities, aiming for a "resort" feel with amenities like a pool, hot tub, and a variety of planned activities. While these offerings provide enjoyment for many, prospective campers, especially those considering cabin rentals or long-term stays, should delve into the details to ensure their expectations align with the current rules and offerings. Despite some recent critiques, the core appeal remains: a beautiful lakefront setting, a range of accommodations, and a commitment to providing a clean environment for your Massachusetts camping adventure. By being informed, we can all make the best choices for our outdoor experiences.

Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages, like many modern camping destinations, offers various ways for guests to find value and special rates, particularly given its status as a "Resort." While specific, publicly advertised "promotions" can vary seasonally, there are common opportunities for Massachusetts locals to save on their stay. It's always best to check their official channels for the most current information.
- Seasonal & Extended Stay Rates: One of the primary ways to secure better value is through seasonal or extended stay bookings. The review from a seasonal camper highlights that many guests enjoy longer stays, and while rules may change, the option for multi-month bookings (e.g., May to September) often comes with a different pricing structure than nightly or weekly rates. Inquire directly about rates for extended periods.
- Membership Discounts: Campgrounds, especially larger resorts, often partner with camping clubs or offer their own loyalty programs. For instance, some listings for Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages mention "Good Sam Club Discount" and "Military Discount," which can provide savings for eligible members. It is advisable to inquire about any such affiliations or discount programs they might have.
- Off-Peak Season Specials: Like many New England resorts, Pine Lake may offer reduced rates or special packages during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) when demand is slightly lower than the peak summer months. These periods can be ideal for experiencing the resort at a more relaxed pace and potentially at a lower cost.
- Holiday Weekend Packages: Conversely, holiday weekends often come with minimum stay requirements and special themed activities. While these might be at premium rates, the "package" of events and entertainment can be seen as a promotional offering for those seeking a festive atmosphere.
- Direct Booking Incentives: Sometimes, booking directly through the campground's official website or by phone can yield the best rates or access to promotions not available on third-party sites.
- Event-Specific Offers: For unique events like "Murder Mystery Dinners" or themed weekends, there might be specific pricing that bundles activities and sometimes even meals, providing an all-inclusive experience for a set price.
To discover the most accurate and current promotions, Massachusetts residents should visit the official Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages website or contact their reservations team directly. This will allow you to discuss your specific needs and find the best available rates for your desired dates.

Pine lake campground Reviews
I have camped here for 4 years as a seasonal camper. We have our trailer delivered in May and picked up in September. This year we were told that they will not be allowing this drop off anymore. You know have to have a vehicle on site at all times in case it needs to be moved!I have never heard of this in my life. We are retired and my husband is a disabled veteran and is unable to drive anymore. We like it here as it was right down the street from us and it was very convenient for us and our grandchildren.I guess being a camper there for 4 years means nothing to these people. Every year they change the rules from no kids under 18 in hot tub to then they can go in. No supervision with the kids there only selected few running and diving in the pool.No after this I would not recommend this campground on top of this it’s very expensive for what you get.
Apr 26, 2025 · Diana HamiltonThe campground is nice but I wouldn’t call it or pay the price of a resort. The amenities were regular you get at any campground, pool and a few activities. What really brought the score down for me however was the cabin accommodations. The cabin looks nice enough and there’s some nice tiny details like they had a small pack of coffee and filters and little toiletries, but I would prefer skip all of that for the more important details. To start I have never rented a cabin anywhere that did not come with a grill! It doesn’t say anywhere on the site that there are no grills, so arriving later on a Friday night planning to grill some burgers to find we didn’t have anything to grill them on was very aggravating. It also made the rest of the weekends dinner plans difficult as there was no grill available. While yes a lot of people use camping to leave behind electronics, the WiFi was horrid even thought they advertise it. We had rainy days back to back and the tvs in the cabins have been locked from streaming. So yes after my kids had played every game we brought and played in the rain there was no option to just have them sit and watch a movie while being cooped up.Absolute worst of all, was the mattresses! They were the hardest worst mattresses I’ve experienced anywhere ever. I didn’t sleep through the night 3 nights straight. You could punch your hand down and it just stayed hard and even. Unless or until those mattresses are updated I won’t be going back.
Oct 14, 2024 · Katlyn PostWe recently began our camping adventures this year. As avid cyclists, we appreciate the proximity of the campground to the trail. The campground is generally well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We have enjoyed our previous visits immensely. However, we have noticed a concerning trend of rule enforcement laxity, particularly regarding the hot tub. The hot tub was overcrowded with children, leaving insufficient space for adults. It appeared that parents and children disregarded the posted rules. One of the primary reasons for the return of campers is due to the standards. We are optimistic that they will uphold the high standards..
Sep 15, 2024 · Jeana HolmesGreat campground. All sites are full hookups and usually very level. Back in and done. The pool is great but can be super busy on hot days.Fishing in the lake is average but the fish IN the lake are all 2-3 lbs.The bath houses are immaculate and very spacious. The campground is HUGE. We walk every morning and the perimeter of the campground is almost 2 miles.Just be aware that some site are in the FULL sun all day.We are planning a Rally next year with a lot of friends.
