Nickerson RV Campground Introduce
For us Minnesotans, finding the right RV campground is often about more than just a place to park our rig; it’s about discovering a community and a convenient base for enjoying the vast outdoor opportunities our state offers. Nickerson RV Campground, located in the peaceful setting of Holyoke, Minnesota, aims to be that kind of destination for RV enthusiasts. Situated in a region known for its natural beauty and extensive trail systems, it positions itself as a potential long-term or seasonal home away from home.
Nickerson RV Campground, at 2142 County Line Rd, Holyoke, MN 55749, USA, caters primarily to RVs, offering a place for those looking to settle in for a season or longer. While some experiences shared by past visitors highlight specific considerations such as RV age policies and general site security, the campground's location in Holyoke suggests a quieter, more natural environment compared to bustling urban areas. For many locals, the allure of an RV campground lies in its potential to offer an accessible and comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding forests and trails, making places like Nickerson RV Campground a point of interest for our state's dedicated RV community.
Nickerson RV Campground is located at 2142 County Line Rd, Holyoke, MN 55749, USA. This address places it within Holyoke, a small community nestled in a less densely populated, more natural area of Minnesota, specifically in Carlton County. For Minnesotans, its location offers a quieter, more rural camping experience, away from the hustle and bustle of major cities.
Accessibility to Nickerson RV Campground is generally straightforward for RVs and trailers. County Line Road suggests a well-maintained, if not paved, route directly to the campground. For those traveling from larger urban centers like Duluth (approximately 45-60 minutes north) or the Twin Cities (around 2-2.5 hours south), Holyoke is reachable via well-established state highways and county roads, typically involving I-35 and then transitioning to smaller routes. This makes it a viable option for both weekend getaways and extended stays for Minnesota residents.
A significant highlight of this region, and thus a key aspect of the campground's accessibility, is its proximity to vast recreational lands. Holyoke is situated near the Nemadji State Forest, which is renowned for its extensive network of ATV, OHM (off-highway motorcycle), and snowmobile trails. This provides immediate access to hundreds of miles of thrilling outdoor adventures, a major draw for power sports enthusiasts across Minnesota. The relative remoteness also often means less traffic and a more serene environment, contributing to the overall appeal for those seeking a true Northwoods experience.
Information regarding the specific, detailed services offered by Nickerson RV Campground beyond basic RV sites can be somewhat limited in publicly available data. However, based on typical RV campground offerings and the nature of the reviews, we can infer certain expected services:
RV Sites: The primary service is providing sites for recreational vehicles. While specific hookup details (e.g., 30-amp, 50-amp electric, water, sewer) are not explicitly stated in provided information, a dedicated RV campground typically offers various levels of hookups to accommodate different types of RVs. It is common for such parks to offer full hookup sites for convenience.
Long-Term/Seasonal Stays: The nature of some reviews, mentioning "one full season," suggests that Nickerson RV Campground likely caters to longer-term or seasonal campers. This implies services and pricing models geared towards extended stays, which often include more robust utilities and amenities than transient sites.
Basic Utilities at Sites: RV sites generally include access to electricity and potentially water. Given the "RV Campground" designation, it is highly probable that electrical hookups are available at most, if not all, sites.
Waste Management: A dump station or sewer hookups at individual sites are standard for RV campgrounds to facilitate wastewater disposal. It would be advisable to confirm these details directly with the campground.
Grounds Maintenance: Reviews mention "sites not bad" and refer to the property, implying some level of basic maintenance for the grounds and individual sites.
It is important to note that specific amenities like shower houses, restrooms, laundry facilities, or a general store are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. For comprehensive details on available services, prospective campers should contact the campground directly.
While the provided information offers a mixed bag of feedback, certain features and aspects of Nickerson RV Campground can be highlighted, especially from the perspective of what might appeal to specific segments of the Minnesota camping community.
Proximity to ATV Trails: A significant highlight, though not directly stated by a reviewer for this specific campground, is its location in Holyoke, which is very close to the Nemadji State Forest. This forest offers over 100 miles of dedicated ATV, OHM, and snowmobile trails, connecting to other major trail systems like the Matthew Lourey and Gandy Dancer Trail. For ATV enthusiasts in Minnesota, this accessibility to extensive off-road riding opportunities is a major draw.
Quiet, Rural Setting: Located on County Line Rd in Holyoke, the campground is likely to offer a quieter, more tranquil environment compared to larger, more bustling campgrounds. This peaceful atmosphere would appeal to those seeking a retreat from urban noise and a chance to enjoy the natural sounds of the Northwoods.
Potential for Seasonal/Long-Term Stays: The review mentioning "one full season" indicates the campground accommodates long-term or seasonal campers. This allows individuals or families to establish a consistent "home base" for enjoying the area throughout a camping season, fostering a sense of community among seasonal residents.
It is important to acknowledge that some reviews highlight areas for potential improvement or specific concerns. One review mentioned a negative experience regarding property damage and a lack of amenities for children, such as a playground. Another review noted a strict policy regarding RV age, rejecting a well-maintained 1986 model. These points suggest that potential visitors should verify current policies and available amenities, especially if specific features like playgrounds are important for their stay or if they have older RV models.

Nickerson RV Campground Reviews
Never even asked to see what our camper looks like just said no based on year. It's a 1986 but has been well maintained 1 owner looks nice out side and totally remodeled inside.
Mar 17, 2023 · JoshSpent one full season with no issues. Second season, before the fall packup, had an issue with a camper driving through very fast. Asked person to slow down as I had my kids and nieces and nephews out biking.Return to site 2 weeks later and camper lights and brake lines are cut. Owner states it was probably someone steeling copper. Either way, want no part of that. Did not return for and half of season. Family and friends pulled out not long after.Sites not bad, but I will not return due to damage done to my trailer. Also, nothing for kids to do, unless that has changed over the last couple of years (playground, etc)
May 03, 2018 · Adam PecoreThis Campground is ok as of right now there's a lot of complainers there that whine about every little thing, if your dog barks once, if you're going a little too fast around the park. The amenities are good there's hot showers bathroom with the sink. There is water hookups and sewage dump right at your rv camp site.
