Maverick Campground Reviews
Beauty, tranquility and nice campgrounds. The hosts were friendly. Although I could have picked a better spot for my travel trailer my buddy and I switched since his trailer is longer and it worked out. Fun fishing, and my family enjoyed every bit of it. Right before the 4th of July but was tolerable.
Sep 03, 2024 · Joseph ZaragozaWe had an exceptional experience at the Maverick Campground! The park hosts were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The campground and park are well maintained, and the bathrooms were very clean. Our campsite was perfect with the picnic table and fire ring and plenty of room for our large tent. I can’t wait for another trip here!
Sep 23, 2024 · Cory HouchinsMaverick Campground was an amazing experience! We were there in late May on a road trip; we arrived at the site less than an hour before a decent rainstorm moved through the area. Got to see the beautiful aftermath of the rain.We reserved a tent only site online. It was easy enough to find, although there are a number of one-way roads through the campground. The parking spot for our vehicle was big, and the site was fully covered in a layer of pine needles. Park host came by and checked us in. The standard picnic table and fire pit were provided. Plenty of space for a couple tents, not more than 3 though.Bathrooms (no showers) were nearby. They smelled a little bit but were otherwise clean. Water spigots are spread throughout the camp. Bear-proof trash receptacles are also dispersed through the campground. The lake behind the campground is for fishing only, no swimming or rock-throwing; it's gorgeous. Behind the lake is a little stream that was freezing and super clear, in New Mexico fashion. If you're visiting Taos or Philmont or headed somewhere else, this is a great campground to stay at. Heartily recommend.
Oct 24, 2023 · Mark MorrisonIf you in northern New Mexico, Cimarron Canyon is where you want to be. The Canyon is amazing, from the Palisade Clifts, to the lovely stream that flow down the valley from Eagles Nest. Maverick Campground is a great place to stay. Many of the campsites are off the main road, so there is not as road noise. There are several ponds to fish for trout and trails to explore. The bathrooms have running water and it was nice and quiet at night. I Loved hearing the winds blow through the trees.
Jul 31, 2024 · David de LajuntaWhat an unexpected sweet, wooded campground! Lake for fishing, beautiful trail along stream. Bathroom with running water-no showers. Ken, the campground host, greeted me and gave me the pertinent information when I arrived after dark.
