If you're a Virginia resident planning a trip that combines scenic drives, outdoor activities, or visits to family and friends attending Liberty University or other local attractions, this KOA warrants a closer look. While some aspects, like road access and Wi-Fi, might require a bit of planning, the overall consensus points to a welcoming atmosphere with fantastic owners, great amenities for kids and pets, and a location that truly maximizes your Virginia experience. It’s a popular spot that many visitors eagerly anticipate returning to.
The Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday is a well-regarded campground located in Monroe, Virginia, designed to provide a comfortable and engaging experience for various types of campers, particularly those with RVs. As a KOA Holiday branded campground, it signifies a destination that offers ample amenities and activities, making it suitable for both overnight stays and longer vacations. The campground aims to offer a "very nice" and enjoyable environment, with a strong emphasis on family-friendly features and accommodating pets.
Key aspects that frequently surface in reviews include the general spaciousness of many sites, the quality of recreational facilities like the playground and dog park, and the welcoming nature of the owners and staff. While some practical considerations such as road access, site proximity, and Wi-Fi performance are noted by some guests, the overall sentiment is positive, with many visitors expressing a strong desire to return. This KOA strives to be a convenient and enjoyable stop for those exploring the Lynchburg area and the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday is located at 6252 Elon Rd, Monroe, VA 24574, USA. Its geographical position is one of its most significant advantages for Virginians. It's lauded for a location that "couldn’t be any better," being only a "5 minute drive to the parkway" and approximately a "30 minute drive to the university" (referring to Liberty University in Lynchburg). This dual access makes it an ideal base for both outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and visitors with connections to Lynchburg's educational and urban offerings.
However, accessibility notes from reviews are important for Virginia drivers. GPS might direct you via "an extremely windy road with some crazy turns and a low overpass," which could be challenging, particularly for "big rigs." A strong recommendation from locals is to approach "through Lynchburg," as "the road is better that way." It's also worth noting that "cell service is next to none with AT&T or Verizon" on parts of the approach roads and even within the park itself. Planning your route and perhaps downloading offline maps are suggested for a smoother arrival. Despite these navigation nuances, its proximity to major Virginia attractions remains a significant draw for campers from across the Commonwealth.

Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday Reviews
This is a very nice KOA Campground! All of the sites offer plenty of room with ample space. The owners are fantastic! The playground is awesome for the kids and the dog park is a nice plus for your furry friends! The location couldn’t be any better. Only a 5 minute drive to the parkway and a 30 minute drive to the university. We will definitely be back.
May 12, 2025 · Donita AlmonyDecent park. The spots are extremely close together and isn't really big rig friendly. My wife had to walk us out because we were so close to hitting trees. Also, if the bath house is by your spot people just walk right through your spot to get to it. Also, they love car passes. They will have someone setup in a golf cart making sure you have a car pass. At one point we had two people run out the office door to flag us down because they couldn't see the car pass hanging from the mirror. They will charge $5 a guest to enter the park. So, if anyone wants to come visit you while you are there they better be ready to fork over some money. The WiFi isn't great either. First night it didn't work at all. Second night it was decent. Cell service is next to none with AT&T or Verizon. GPS will bring you in on a extremely windy road with some crazy turns and a low over pass. If you are able to come in through Lynchburg. The road is better that way. Just know you will lose cell service on the road at multiple points also. I never found a dog park. Only a small grassy area that had a clean up station. But the gnats were terrible over there. You won't have any grass on your lot unless you get lucky and get one of the few back in lots that has grass. Everything is pine bark and gravel.
May 12, 2025 · Matthew PylantWe had made reservations at this KOA and were excited because we had been looking forward to staying here.A sudden emergency came up which forced my wife to have to undergo surgery. We are KOA VIP members and have always received great service wherever we stayed. This time NO!We called and asked if we could just move the dates but the response we received was terrible. They wouldn’t even consider a change. They were just eager to take our money.I can say with these people I will NEVER BOOKHERE AGAIN!I can’t believe they are allowed to be KOA!If i could give them a zero rating I would.
May 11, 2025 · Butch BumgardnerVery well-kept campground. Bathrooms/showers were clean and well furnished. The campground itself was very well manicured and has been maintained perfectly. The WIFI was pretty good too. Definitely will be staying here again.
May 16, 2025 · Rick MoseleyVery friendly staff. Large level sites. Got a "campfire kit" that included a fire starter and the makings for s'mores. Big dog park. Campground conveniently located at the mile 60 entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was our destination for the next day. A bit pricey but KOA has always been dependable for the price.
