Lake George Battleground State Campground is perfectly positioned at 2224 US-9, Lake George, NY 12845, USA. This address places it just a quarter-mile south of the bustling Village of Lake George, a major advantage for any New Yorker planning a trip to the region. Its location on a main thoroughfare, US-9, ensures extremely easy access by car or RV, making your journey to the campground straightforward and hassle-free. For those coming from downstate New York or other parts of the state, US-9 provides a direct route right to the campground's doorstep.
The standout feature of this campground's location is its walkability to Lake George Village. Imagine stepping out of your tent or RV and being able to stroll to the village's numerous attractions, restaurants, and shops. This eliminates the need for constant driving and parking, a significant benefit in a popular tourist destination. Reviews frequently highlight this convenience, noting that "all of the village attractions and restaurants are within walking distance." You can easily reach Lake George Beach for swimming and sunbathing, explore the historic Fort William Henry, or embark on a cruise from the Lake George Steamboat Company, all just a short walk away.
Beyond the immediate village, the campground's strategic position also provides excellent access to a wider array of Adirondack adventures. Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding area, is located just across Route 9. While the campground itself does not have a boat launch, numerous public and private boat launches are available in the village for those looking to get out on the lake. The ease of access to hiking trails, fishing spots, and other outdoor recreational opportunities throughout the Lake George region truly solidifies this campground as an ideal base for exploration.
However, it's important for New York locals to note the proximity to US-9. As some past visitors have mentioned, due to its convenient location on a main road, "the car noise will be your buddy for all your stay, especially if tenting." While this is a trade-off for the unparalleled access, bringing earplugs or headphones is a simple solution for a peaceful night's sleep. The overall consensus remains that the "ease of access to multiple ADK spots beats the screaming toddlers and the motel prices," highlighting the significant value derived from its prime location.

As a New York State Campground managed by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Lake George Battleground State Campground typically does not offer commercial-style "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a private campground or RV park might. State campgrounds operate on a fixed rate structure, determined by the state, rather than through fluctuating discounts or loyalty programs. The pricing is generally consistent throughout the season, with a standard nightly rate for campsites, plus any applicable out-of-state surcharges.
However, the inherent "promotion" of Lake George Battleground State Campground for New York locals lies in its exceptional value. The cost of a campsite here is significantly lower than hotel accommodations in the bustling Lake George Village, especially considering its unparalleled walking-distance access to all the village offers. This cost-effectiveness allows New York families and individuals to experience a prime vacation destination without breaking the bank.
It's important for prospective campers to check the official New York State Parks or ReserveAmerica website for the most current pricing, as rates are subject to change by the state. While there won't be flash sales or coupon codes, the consistent affordability relative to its prime location is a continuous benefit for New Yorkers looking for a budget-friendly way to enjoy the Adirondacks and Lake George.

Its greatest asset is undoubtedly its "million-dollar spot" right at the doorstep of Lake George Village. This unparalleled proximity means that you can truly experience the best of both worlds: the tranquility of a campground setting combined with the convenience and excitement of a bustling resort town. Imagine waking up to the sounds of nature, enjoying a campfire breakfast, and then taking a leisurely stroll to explore lakeside attractions, boutique shops, and diverse dining options – all without the hassle of driving and finding parking.
The campground’s facilities, while not luxurious, are consistently praised for being "super clean and quite modern," ensuring a comfortable and hygienic stay. Hot showers, flush toilets, and a trailer dump station cover all the essential needs for both tent and trailer campers. For New Yorkers looking for an affordable yet quality getaway, this campground offers immense value compared to the higher prices of local hotels, making a Lake George vacation more accessible.
Furthermore, the historical significance of the battleground adds an educational and enriching layer to your stay, connecting you with New York's rich past. The ease of access to natural recreational opportunities, from swimming at Lake George Beach to hiking on Prospect Mountain, solidifies its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts. While acknowledging the occasional road noise due to its convenient location, this is a minor trade-off for the overwhelming advantages it provides. For local New Yorkers seeking a memorable, convenient, and cost-effective Adirondack adventure, Lake George Battleground State Campground is a prime choice for creating lasting family memories and enjoying the beauty of the Empire State.

Sep 30, 2024 · NenaNice campground! Located in the village of Lake George. All of the village attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. There is also diner and a bowling alley across the street. The only real set back is that this campground is on the smaller side. There is some very nice sites. Most of the sites here are small. They are also right on top of each other.
Apr 22, 2024 · Rob ZuberThe place is great. Small little campground, not so great for larger travel trailers. Only downside is it’s so close to the road cars going by especially at night are constantly reving there car engines and motorcycles.
Sep 15, 2024 · Billy DardanelliRight next the very noisy part of town. Sites are tiny with no privacy. Buildings are ok and semi well maintained.Good for an overnight stay to visit Lake George on your way…
Aug 19, 2024 · Jac DupuisThe staff and campgrounds are great. Only problem we had was the spot we picked was too small for our RV. The staff settled that for us and we thank them for that. All sites have burn pits for cooking or just a campfire. The restrooms and showers are unbelievable. Outstanding. We would definitely go back. Campgrounds are close to everything in Lake George
