Kings Canyon Rv Resort & Campground Introduce
Nestled amidst the majestic peaks and verdant forests of the Sierra Nevada, Kings Canyon RV Resort & Campground offers a vital and welcoming haven for travelers exploring the spectacular Kings Canyon National Park area. More than just a place to set up camp, this family-owned and operated establishment provides essential amenities and a friendly atmosphere that truly enhances any outdoor adventure in this remote and breathtaking region of California. For Californians eager to immerse themselves in the grandeur of the national parks without sacrificing convenience, this campground is a strategic and appealing choice.
Visitors consistently praise Kings Canyon RV Resort & Campground as a highly convenient and "awesome place" to stop, especially when other options might be fully booked. Its presence in an area known for limited services makes it an invaluable resource for everything from refueling your vehicle to grabbing a refreshing treat. The serene environment, characterized by the absence of city lights and the surrounding mountains, creates a perfect backdrop for stunning stargazing. This blend of practicality, natural beauty, and warm hospitality from the staff makes it a destination that many save for "future travels."
Kings Canyon RV Resort & Campground is ideally located at 67751 Kings Canyon Rd, Hume, CA 93628, USA. This places it directly on Highway 180, the primary route through Kings Canyon National Park, just a stone's throw from Hume Lake and a convenient drive to the heart of the national park's attractions, including Cedar Grove and Grant Grove. Its strategic position ensures that whether you are heading deeper into the canyon or just leaving, it serves as an indispensable stop.
Accessibility to the campground is straightforward, despite its mountainous setting. The Kings Canyon Road (Highway 180) is a well-maintained scenic byway, navigable by both RVs and passenger vehicles, though it does involve winding sections typical of mountain roads. While the campground is noted as being "close to the road," reviewers also point out that there isn't "much traffic," which helps maintain a peaceful atmosphere. Its location is especially beneficial given the vastness and limited services within the national park itself. For California locals, it means a more manageable and less stressful journey into and out of the wilderness, ensuring that more time is spent enjoying the natural wonders rather than worrying about logistics. The surrounding area offers a true sense of seclusion while remaining connected to essential routes.
Kings Canyon RV Resort & Campground provides a range of practical services designed to make your stay comfortable and convenient in a somewhat remote location.
- RV Sites with Hookups: The resort offers sites that can accommodate RVs, with the strong likelihood of water and sewer hookups based on the "RV Resort" designation and common offerings in similar establishments. This provides essential comfort for RV travelers.
- Tent Sites: Tent camping options are available, though it's noted that "tent sites are NOT drive in," meaning campers will need to carry their gear a short distance. This provides a more traditional camping experience for those without an RV.
- Clean Bathrooms: The campground prides itself on having "clean" bathroom facilities, a crucial amenity for all campers.
- Gas Station: A significant advantage in this remote area, the on-site gas station provides a crucial refueling point for vehicles before or after exploring the national park. Reviews indicate prices are "decent for it being in the middle of nowhere."
- Ice Cream and Drinks: A small store or counter offers ice cream and various beverages, providing a welcome treat and refreshment for travelers.
- Family-Owned and Operated: Being family-owned and operated often translates to a more personal touch and friendly staff, as affirmed by customer reviews.
- Limited Amenities (No Cell Service): It's important to note that, typical for this remote area, there is "no cell service" at the campground. This encourages a true disconnect and immersion in nature.
Kings Canyon RV Resort & Campground stands out with several key features that enhance the experience for visitors seeking a genuine outdoor escape in the Sierras.
- Stunning Stargazing Opportunities: The "lack of city lights and the mountains surrounding the area makes it a great place to star gaze." This is a significant highlight for anyone wanting to experience the unparalleled beauty of a dark night sky.
- Peaceful and Quiet Environment: Despite being close to the road, the campground is noted for being "very quiet" and having "not much traffic," contributing to a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere.
- Wildlife Sightings: Visitors frequently report seeing "lots of deer coming through" the campground. While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, given its location in the national forest, it's also within bear country, emphasizing the need for proper food storage.
- Friendly and Accommodating Staff: The family-owned and operated nature of the resort shines through in the "very friendly staff" and welcoming atmosphere, which can make a significant difference in a remote setting.
- Convenient Location for Park Exploration: Being directly on Kings Canyon Road, it serves as an excellent base for exploring the attractions within Kings Canyon National Park, including the renowned General Grant Tree, Cedar Grove, and numerous hiking trails and waterfalls.
- Essential Services on-site: The availability of gas, ice cream, and drinks is a major convenience, saving travelers from needing to exit the park area for these necessities.
- Opportunity for Digital Detox: The absence of cell service, while a challenge for some, is a highlight for others looking for a true "off-grid" experience to disconnect from technology and fully engage with nature.

Kings Canyon Rv Resort & Campground Reviews
Found this awesome place while heading towards Cedar Grove. We didn’t have a reservation but they had a few spots left for the night. Coming on a weekend everything was sold out but when you find a place like this you don’t hesitate to stop for the night. The lack of city lights and the mountains surrounding the area makes it a great place to star gaze. It is family owned and operated and very friendly staff. I saved this place for future travels.Oh and they serve Ice cream and gas in case you are just passing through.
Jul 10, 2021 · Fernando MendozaNice campground, bathroom was clean and the area was very quiet. The tent sites are NOT drive in which I couldn’t tell from the map, I definitely recommend just getting an RV site. Close to the road but not much traffic. Night sky was amazing! Lots of deer coming though. No cell service.
Sep 21, 2024 · Meg McCarthyIt's definitely has its own character. Very secluded and it's privately owned. Great host 👏 If you want to stay away from the crowed this place will give you that edge of likeness. There is gas and ICE CREAM and ohhhh WIFI 😂 🧊😳 It's also not that far from cavern cave. Will definitely stay here again!
Jul 10, 2021 · Agnes MendozaEasy to find and book! We got site 6, right by the road but it quiets down at night. Nice for a rest in between Sequoia and Kings, especially because we made stops to Hume lake in between the journey. If kings canyon campsites get booked up (like we ran into) this isn’t too far a drive from the park, and since it uses ‘hipcamp’ to book it seems like it stays more under the radar from the crowds, works for booking last minute. The site across from us was empty all night while the camps in Kings was booked solid. Porta potty, but like I said it’s good for one night. Also across the way at the RV section they offer cocktails and ice cream!
Jun 22, 2022 · Heather MThis place is a hole. No one is here to help you, the bathrooms are disgusting. No one in cleaning or maintaining the property.
