While state park campgrounds typically do not offer frequent "promotions" in the commercial sense, there are inherent value propositions and specific pricing policies to be aware of:
-
Seasonal Rates: Camping rates can vary by season (peak vs. off-peak) and by the type of campsite (e.g., electric, full hookup, primitive). It's always advisable to check the official DCNR website or call the campground directly for the most current pricing.
-
Resident vs. Non-Resident Pricing: As noted with the boat docking fees, some services and amenities may have slightly different rates for Pennsylvania residents versus non-residents, often favoring locals. This is a common practice in state parks to provide a benefit to in-state taxpayers.
-
Booking in Advance: While not a "promotion," securing your campsite well in advance, especially for popular weekends, holidays, and peak season, is crucial. This ensures you get your preferred site and avoids disappointment, particularly for highly sought-after waterfront spots.
-
Park-Wide Programs: Keep an eye on the overall Pymatuning State Park calendar for any special events, educational programs, or interpretive activities that might coincide with your stay. While not a direct discount, these free or low-cost activities enhance the value of your camping experience.

Some of these sites have all hookups. Others do not. Many bathrooms in different locations. Some non-powered sites are close to the water. You can dock your boat overnight for $8 resident and $11 non-resident of pennsylvania.
Sep 06, 2023 · TABITHA COYNEThe campground is awesome and has beautiful views. It has its own beach access, boat launch, fishing dock, and playground. There are bathrooms located around the park. The bathrooms & showers are private rooms which is nice IMO. We stayed at a tenting site that was waterfront and the view was beautiful. We fished right from our campsite. Would definitely camp here again!
Jul 03, 2023 · AnnaThis is a very nice State Park Campgrounds. The camp seems to be well laid out and is spacious. The sites in our area were level and had plenty of room. They seem have plenty to do for kids, and a camp store. We enjoyed riding our bicycles around the campground. The restrooms in our area were new and very nice. We're definitely going to revisit this campground.
Aug 16, 2023 · Kevin CookPennsylvania has dumb rules. On the website, it said no washing dishes or hands at the camp site. We asked a Ranger about it, and he called Jamestown office, and they said just to do it at campsite.Site it's self was on a hill covered with leaves and had hanging branches (widow makers) right over only flat area. They have 4 bathroom locations with 4 shower/bathroom. The dumb part is that if you use a shower, it eliminates a toilet. There are too many sites for 16 bathrooms and showers total. There were lines for bathrooms in the morning and after dinner time.Bottom line Pennsylvania side of Pymatuning Lake sux.
May 31, 2023 · Some GuyQuiet, shady, large campground, great for families. There is a beach, a small camp store and many playgrounds. The bathrooms were all single toilets with a shower in each stall, which caused lines, all day.
