As a New York State Park campground, Heckscher State Park Campground operates under the standard pricing and reservation policies set by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Therefore, traditional commercial "promotions" or "special offers" like discounts or package deals are not typically advertised directly by the campground.
However, New York residents often benefit from inherent "special offers" and value provided through the state park system:
New York State Resident Discount:
New York State residents generally receive a discounted rate on camping fees compared to out-of-state visitors. This is a direct saving for locals utilizing their state park system.
Empire Pass Acceptance:
While not a direct camping discount, holding a New York State Empire Pass can provide free vehicle entry to Heckscher State Park (and other state parks) throughout the year. This can lead to significant savings for frequent visitors, including campers who might drive in and out of the park during their stay, or utilize other park facilities.
Seasonal Camping Window:
The campground is open from mid-May to early September, aligning with the prime summer vacation season for families. While this isn't a "promotion," it's a guaranteed period of availability for local residents to plan their summer getaways.
Affordable Access to Extensive Amenities:
The camping fees provide access to a wide array of amenities and activities within the park, including beach access, trails, playgrounds, and clean facilities, representing excellent value for the cost.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on camping rates, booking windows (reservations can often be made up to nine months in advance), and any potential, albeit rare, state-wide camping promotions, New York locals should visit the official New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation website (parks.ny.gov) or utilize the ReserveAmerica platform which handles NY State Park reservations. Booking early, especially for peak weekends, is highly recommended due to the campground's popularity.

Heckscher State Park Campground Reviews
My Family and I have been coming here since they allowed RV in the Campgrounds. Staff is very friendly and we always book the same sites every year. Plenty of space for my Travel Trailer and a Tent for the Grandkids. Easy access to and from work.
Feb 19, 2024 · Daniel PadroNice campground, close to NYC and Fire Island. The office is open till 11 pm, there is ice machine as well, and even the ice cream truck comes near sites. Large sites, but there are no bushes between them, so you can see all your neighbors. Also you have grill, but no fire pit on sites, you can bring yours, and there is one common fire pit. A good thing that we were afraid of ticks, but we used bug spray and long pants and socks and we were fine.
Aug 02, 2021 · Nutza HIt was beautiful . Just remember to book Friday and sat it's gets filled up and it's really cool. There are nice people and on the weekends when every spot is if full it's so nice . Ticks are bad in the woods . Be careful . I'm going back real soon
Aug 06, 2023 · David EskesenJust came out for a quick overnighter and had a great time. The facilities are well-maintained and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They take Good care of the park and make regular rounds to make sure all guests are comfortable and enjoy themselves. Get out and camp!
Aug 13, 2022 · K BoogieIt's a really nice spot, but campfires are not allowed. This was the first time I camped and didn't smell the smoke of a campfire. It was a different experience. The restrooms are clean and every site has water.
