Haystack Reservoir Campground and Day Use Area Reviews
Nice campground with large spread out sites. The drinking water is really nice to have. The vault toilets are hit and miss, some were really nice, others not so much. The views were awesome! Not to mention the hosts were really friendly. No swimming is allowed at the reservoir unfortunately due to blue-green algae. We only opted to leave early due to the heavy smoke from the wildfires.
Aug 23, 2023 · Megan DuncanVery Rude camp host. We used to love going there. Until the old man in the golf cart is sneaking about spying on people and constantly trying to threat you about anything and everything. Seriously will not be back. Very uncomfortable when all your trying to camp and you have to worry about some one spying on you .
Jun 30, 2025 · Brent Gayla CarlsonOn-site manager is a grumpy human. We won't be going back. We have an Oregon pass, didn't realize we needed a federal pass. Unfortunately, I don't carry checks and didn't have cash. They don't have a card reader, he was just completely rude. Following us in his little golf cart. It's all good, I called the company that oversees this location and that gentleman was a doll. He offered to waive the fee, but I'll send him $. We're not here to NOT pay, we had the Oregon permit and paddleboard permits. We didn't realize, it was a simple error. Golf cart guy was so unwelcoming.
Jun 14, 2025 · Mandy DolanOne of the better campsites I have stayed at. Campsites are spaced out, fairly quiet (depending on your neighbors) and come with a picknick table and fire pit with cooking grate. There are pit toilets and no showers. You can get potable water upfront near the camp hosts. Great lake and mountain views especially at sunset.
Jun 24, 2017 · Greg ParksSuper clean, even the vault toilets were spotless. The reservoir was great for swimming, at least in mid June. (there are signs about algae blooms that must happen as the summer wears on) The views of Mt Jefferson over the reservoir can't be beat!
