Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA Journey Introduce
For those of us living in Colorado, finding a campground that combines convenience with a wealth of amenities can be a true gem, especially when traveling with family or a large RV. The Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA Journey stands out as a highly recommended destination that offers much more than just a place to park your rig or pitch a tent. It's a thoughtfully designed camping experience aimed at making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, all set against the beautiful backdrop of the Front Range.
This KOA is frequently praised by visitors as one of the best RV campgrounds they've encountered, brimming with features that go "far above the very clean sites and restrooms." From its well-maintained facilities to its extensive recreational offerings, it's clear that this campground prioritizes guest satisfaction. While some larger rigs might need to navigate carefully due to tree limbs or site leveling challenges, the overall consensus is that the sheer number of amenities and the friendly atmosphere make it a fantastic choice for a Colorado stopover or a longer stay. It’s a place where convenience meets comfort, ensuring a pleasant experience whether you're just passing through or settling in for a few days of local exploration.
The Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA Journey is conveniently located at 4821 E Co Rd 70, Wellington, CO 80549, USA. Its strategic position offers easy access right off I-25 at Exit 281 (Owl Canyon Road), making it an ideal stop for those traveling north or south through Colorado. While it provides a "retreat from the city traffic," it remains well-connected to larger urban centers.
For Colorado locals, this location is particularly appealing. It's just a short 20-minute drive north of Fort Collins, allowing for easy access to "College Town" amenities, breweries, and Old Town charm. Additionally, it’s only about an hour's drive from Denver and Boulder to the south, and close to Cheyenne, Wyoming, to the north, offering diverse day-trip opportunities. This ease of access ensures that even with larger RVs, campers can navigate to and from the site without significant hassle. While it's noted that some sites might require careful maneuvering due to trees or unlevel pads, the overall accessibility from major roadways is a significant advantage for travelers exploring the Northern Colorado region.

Fort Collins North / Wellington KOA Journey Reviews
This is one of THE best RV campgrounds we've visited! It is full of many enjoyable amenities far above the very clean sites and restrooms and pretty good WiFi, as well as the KOA standard cable hookups. It's full of flowers and trees with the Rockies as a backdrop. There's a pool, LOTS of play space and equipment for kids and adults alike, PLUS a huge double outdoor kitchen under a lovely gazebo. Highly recommend!
Jul 03, 2025 · Carla HaysLocation is great as there is not a lot in this area. The campground is easy accessible. The sites are tight and tree limbs can be an issue. Saw multiple Class A hit limbs pulling into sites. Sites are not level and will cause issues draining you tanks as the sewer drain is uphill and about a foot above the ground. Multiple signs at campground letting you know you'll have to pay for broken limbs or driving through the rocks, which can be nearly impossible with a larger rig or a with a tow. Paying for a premium site is not worth it due to the major slope on the pads.
Jun 17, 2025 · Scott HoffmanThis was a very nice KOA, a little surprised it is listed as only a Journey. The staff is friendly and the site was clean with no hookup issues. A lot of the sites, including ours, did appear to not be very level. Since we were only in and out we didn't use blocks, but would have if we were staying longer. The amenities were great and the family really appreciated that the KOA provided all the sporting equipment for all the various games they had available (volleyball, basketball, cornhole, plastic axe throwing, etc.), which was a lot more than most KOA's do. They also had a pool although we did not use it.
Jun 03, 2025 · Jacob SessionsThe KOA has been great! The amenities are perfect for our family. It isn't too far away from anything. We are very happy with it and will most definitely stay again!
May 31, 2025 · Alyssa GarrettThe people here are extremely nice and go out of their way to be sure you have a great stay. I would give 100 stars if i could. Some of the campground is outdated but they have alot of renovations they are doing this summer and have already started them. They are right off the freeway and are far enough from freeway that you don't hear the traffic. They are cheaper then Lakeside and they don't raise your rates like the other place does also. I highly recommend Wellington KOA!!!!
