This article is designed to provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of what Elmore RV Park offers, helping you determine if it's the right fit for your next stay in Charlotte.
Elmore RV Park prides itself on being Charlotte's only RV park within the city limits, a significant advantage for those who prioritize proximity to urban amenities and attractions. It operates as an adult-oriented community, focusing on providing a peaceful and consistent environment for its guests. While some aspects of the park, particularly for short-term stays, might present a more utilitarian feel than a traditional resort-style campground, its strategic location and core services make it a valuable option for many RVers.
We'll delve into the park's key location and accessibility, detail the services and features available, provide essential contact information, and finally, explain why Elmore RV Park is a suitable choice for locals and visitors alike who understand its specific offerings and embrace its unique approach to urban RV accommodation.
Elmore RV Park is a year-round, adult-oriented RV community situated on 6 acres in Charlotte, North Carolina. It offers approximately 40-50 full hookup sites, catering to both short-term visitors and long-term residents. The park's primary appeal lies in its unparalleled location within Charlotte city limits, providing easy access to downtown, major attractions, and essential services. This makes it a practical choice for those who need a base to explore the city or for individuals requiring extended stays for work or personal reasons.
It's crucial for prospective visitors to understand Elmore RV Park's distinct character. As an "adult-oriented" community, the park does not accommodate children, a policy that, while causing strong opinions among some, contributes to the quiet atmosphere valued by its target demographic. For short-term guests, sites are typically located on a gravel parking lot near the entrance, offering essential hookups but fewer traditional campground amenities like picnic tables or fire rings. Long-term guests often enjoy paved sites, many of which are shaded by old oak trees and may include concrete patios. The park strives to offer a quiet, affordable living space, hidden just enough from the immediate bustle of N Tryon Street while remaining incredibly accessible to Charlotte's widespread offerings.
Elmore RV Park is located at 4826 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28213, USA. This address places it in a highly convenient position within Charlotte, making it the only RV park directly in the city limits. This location is a significant advantage for travelers who prioritize urban accessibility over a traditional rural camping experience.
The park is situated on N Tryon Street (US 29), a major thoroughfare in Charlotte, ensuring straightforward navigation for RVs. It's just minutes from downtown Charlotte, allowing for easy access to the city's vast array of attractions, including professional sports venues, cultural institutions, dining, and shopping. The park's proximity to the bus line further enhances accessibility for those who prefer not to drive their RV or tow vehicle into the city center.
For visitors arriving via major interstates, Elmore RV Park is conveniently located near both I-77 and I-85. For example, from the junction of I-77 and I-85, you can typically go east on I-85 N (Exit 41/Sugar Creek Rd), then south on Sugar Creek Rd, and finally east on US 29 N (Tryon St) to reach the park. While located on a busy road within a bustling urban area, the park's layout is described as being "concealed from the main road," providing a degree of separation. While some may note the presence of city sounds like trains and sirens, this is a trade-off for being so centrally located, offering unparalleled convenience to everything Charlotte has to offer.
Elmore RV Park focuses on providing essential services for RVers, particularly those seeking full hookup sites for both short and extended stays. It emphasizes functionality and convenience rather than extensive recreational amenities. Based on available public information, the services typically offered include:
- Full Hookup RV Sites: All sites offer full hookups, including 30 and 50 amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. This is a core offering, ensuring campers have all necessary utilities.
- Free Wi-Fi: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, though some reviews indicate that the signal strength can be poor to non-existent, particularly for short-term sites.
- Paved/Gravel Sites: Long-term guests often receive paved sites, some with concrete patios and shade. Short-term stays are typically accommodated in a gravel parking lot at the entrance.
- Paved, Lighted Roads: The internal roads within the park are paved and lighted, facilitating easy navigation, especially after dark.
- Pull-Thru Sites: Some pull-thru sites are available, which can be convenient for larger rigs.
- Late Check-in: Late check-in upon request is available, offering flexibility for arrival times.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: Pets are permitted, though there are specific rules and restrictions, including size limitations (no large dogs), leash requirements, no outdoor enclosures, and a strict clean-up policy with fines for non-compliance.
- On-site Laundry Facilities: While not explicitly stated in all public overviews, some older mentions suggest laundry facilities are available, which is a common amenity for parks catering to long-term stays. (However, some reviews contradict this, stating "no bath or laundry facilities on site," so it's best to confirm directly with the park.)
- No Public Restrooms/Showers: It is important to note that, for short-term stays, there are typically no public restrooms or showers available, as highlighted in customer reviews. This is an amenity expected within a full-service campground but not consistently provided for transient guests here.
- No Picnic Tables or Fire Rings for Short-Term: Short-term sites are described as a gravel lot without amenities like picnic tables or fire rings.
Elmore RV Park's distinct features and highlights cater to a specific type of RVer, particularly those prioritizing urban access and basic functionality:
- Unbeatable City Proximity: As the only RV park within Charlotte city limits, its main highlight is the unparalleled convenience to downtown Charlotte, local attractions, sports venues, dining, and shopping.
- Adult-Oriented Community: The park's policy of not accommodating children contributes to a generally quiet and peaceful atmosphere, appealing to adult travelers and long-term residents seeking tranquility.
- Full Hookups: All sites provide essential full hookups (electric, water, sewer), which is a key necessity for both short and long-term RV stays.
- Year-Round Operation: The park is open all year, offering a continuous option for RVers regardless of the season.
- Easy Bus Line Access: Being located on a bus line provides an excellent alternative for exploring Charlotte without moving the RV or tow vehicle.

For locals who own RVs and occasionally need a city base – perhaps during home renovations, for work, or simply to enjoy Charlotte's urban offerings without the commute from a distant, rural campground – Elmore RV Park offers a practical and affordable solution with full hookups.
Its ease of access to major roads and public transportation further enhances its suitability for North Carolinians looking for a functional RV parking solution in a bustling urban environment. While it may not offer the typical "camping" ambiance with campfires and wide-open spaces, it effectively serves its purpose as a convenient, fully-serviced RV park for the adult traveler who values location and essential amenities above all else when exploring or living within our state's largest city. For those who understand and appreciate its specific offerings, Elmore RV Park remains a valuable asset for the Charlotte RV community.

Elmore RV Park Reviews
We stayed here with our 5th wheel for 4 days over Christmas 2018. Short term stays are put onto a gravel parking lot at the entrance so this isn't really a campground. (no amenities, no picnic table, no fire ring) We selected this location because it was the closest RV park to downtown Charlotte. Upon reflection we should have selected a campground close to 495 bc we would have had just as easy access to all parts of Charlotte (via 495) and probably more ambience. Power and water supply were adequate, WiFi was very poor to non existent. The area was clean and concealed from the main road however we did not feel comfortable with the security of the area. (Busy road, Sketchy neighborhood) Every day we heard the train and police and ambulance sirens going by which didn't bother us but some people might not like it. The gravel lot was also pretty tight and if it had been full, it would have been a real challenge to back in.
Jan 05, 2019 · cami koneckyReading reviews and website, The fact that they don’t take children DESPISES me! Do you not realize that’s discrimination? Do you not realize we are in 2024? You take animals but don’t take children. That’s so wrong in so many ways! So people in y’all’s families with children couldn’t stay there either???? Y’all should be ashamed. I will NEVER recommend staying here. That just goes to show that the people who run this place wouldn’t let their children or grandchildren stay here!! How can you live with yourselves!
Nov 01, 2024 · nicole casperThis park is geared towards long term tenants but will accommodate short and medium term renters as well. Short term rentals are in a gravel lot at the front of the park. The amenities there are no-frills but everything you need at a reasonable price. Despite being in a commercial area of town, the park is very safe and has mature landscaping. Very convenient to downtown, NoDa, and the University area. I love it here!
Feb 24, 2023 · Thermal T LangWe stayed here for 9 nights only because we needed to be in Charlotte and this place was the most convenient. Almost all the sites had permanent or long term residents. For those passing through, you will likely get placed on the gravel lot at the front of the park. We were parked under a tree so that was nice. Park is right off a busy street with lots of noise. I never felt unsafe but chose to stay somewhere else the one night my dogs were not with me. The owner was very nice when I checked in. No bath or laundry facilities.
May 09, 2018 · Joan WeesiesWe needed a place to stay with our travel trailer while visiting relatives. Although the area for transients is small, the gravel lot was level with full hookups, clean and safe. The area was very conveniently located to the interstate. The host was friendly and helpful. Campers must have their own bathroom facilities. No public bathhouse, which rules out a long term visit for me.
