Apr 01, 2025 · D. MorganOne of the best military base campgrounds we've visited. Lots are nice and in a wooded area with tons of shade. The base exchange is just across from it for easy access if you need something quick. Only con is that there is no sewer hookup but it wasn't an issue for our 3 day stay.
Jun 04, 2025 · Travis TrussellMelissa did a great job! Many military Fam Camps we go to they treat you like they are doing you a big favor by helping you, it's like your bothering , Melissa on the other hand makes you feel welcomed and went above and beyond to help us! Thanks Melissa
May 29, 2025 · Scott SpeerA glass half full, half empty issue. How far back in history do have to go when campers and trailers where relatively small. That's when this Fam Camp was created. Pretty much left to nature. Each time we come I need to do work on the site. One time the site, like most, was cut into an embankment. Much erosion made it hard to move around in back of our trailer. Did some shoveling. This time was similar. The grills have pads of stepping stones. This one was totally obscured by dirt and a mound of pine cones, pine needles, boken branches & twigs. Had to clear it all away lest an ember start a conflagration. Biggest issue are the trees. Left to grow over time they make it often very difficult to maneuver a rig into a site. Had a big "Grand Design" come in this week and it lost an encounter with a tree. Rec staff have tied red "danger" tape around many trees. Not much help there. BUT it is a back in the woods experience, in the heart of Atlanta. The main cross base roadway is on the north side but traffic is quiet. And the BX is across the road. Never seen more than a few cars in the lot. Bathhouse is nice. With free laundry. Bring flaslights and lanterns because there are no lights. Under the tree canopy it gets really dark at night. Only 18 sites, yet over Memorial Day weekend there were open slots. Plan ahead. Call ahead. For us it is the more than half full variety.
Jun 01, 2021 · Homer PadenOnly $25 per night. Close to many things. Parks, restaurants, shops and more. My only complaint is that they change the bathhouse code daily. I don't understand why. It's a secure military base. Who's out there waiting to break into the bathrooms??? Ridiculous!
