Crows Creek Campground is strategically located at 4601 Crow Creek Rd, Smithville, MO 64089, USA. This address places it directly on the shores of the expansive Smithville Lake, a major recreational hub managed by Clay County Parks. Smithville itself is a charming community situated just north of the Kansas City metropolitan area, making Crows Creek an incredibly accessible escape for a large portion of Missouri’s population. The relatively short drive from urban centers means you can transition from city life to lakeside tranquility in under an hour, perfect for weekend trips or extended vacations.
The campground’s accessibility extends beyond its general location. Its paved interior roads ensure smooth navigation for all types of vehicles, from passenger cars to large RVs. While many sites are designed for easy access, campers should be aware of specific conditions that may arise. One candid review mentioned "mud at the sites right outside the door to your camper, at least in loop C," particularly "when it rains!" This suggests that while the campground is generally well-maintained, certain areas, like Loop C, might experience muddy conditions during wet weather. Prospective campers, especially those in RVs, might consider bringing outdoor mats or preparing for potentially soft ground if rain is in the forecast.
Despite this minor caveat, the overall accessibility to the lake and its surroundings is excellent. Many sites are "located along the shoreline with easy access to walking trails and the ability to bank your boat at your own risk." This direct access to the water and the extensive trail system around Smithville Lake is a major draw, allowing campers to easily enjoy activities like fishing, boating, hiking, and biking without having to drive off-site.
For those requiring ADA accessibility, Clay County Parks, which manages Crows Creek Campground, offers numerous facilities that meet ADA standards. This includes accessible restrooms, shower facilities, campsites, and courtesy docks at boat ramps, ensuring that a wide range of visitors can enjoy the campground and the lake.

Crows Creek Campground Reviews
Very nice campground until it rains! Then mud at the sites right outside the door to your camper, at least in loop C. I would really like to see some small gravel added during the off season to these sites. Nice improvement to the barrier perimeter wall at the kids playground though!!
Jun 19, 2025 · Laura JohnkThis is a lovely campground. The sites are big and you really feel as if you have your own space. Light a fire and visit with friends. No sewer, but has water and electricity. You see kids on bicycles having fun with their friends. They are polite and is great how their out and about enjoying themselves. Mostly adults though.
Apr 17, 2025 · Karen RothermichVery nice camp ground, clean bath house. Fun times!
Jun 20, 2025 · Brian SpragueWay better than Camp Branch but that isn't saying much. The camp hosts do the bare minimum to make campers feel welcomed and comfortable. Since there is no one in the booth until 11 am, you aren't getting your vehicle pass, trash bag, rules and regulations I guess all the aforementioned is subject to variations. The atmosphere at Smithville has declined in recent years. The shores are littered with trash. The whole experience was really disappointing.
Apr 21, 2025 · Anne SimpsonLovely park very clean campground a week every year about this time for our yearly group campout and it's always amazing.. wish they had better access to water like a garden hose or a stick it up by the bath house that would be really nice
