Catface Corner Campground (Florida Forest Service) Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For those Floridians yearning for an authentic, back-to-basics camping experience, Catface Corner Campground, proudly managed by the Florida Forest Service, offers a compelling retreat. Located in the serene landscapes near Sanderson, this campground is not your typical amenity-rich RV park. Instead, it embodies the spirit of primitive camping, providing a genuine connection with nature for those who appreciate simplicity and the raw beauty of the outdoors. If your idea of a perfect getaway involves quiet nights under a sky full of stars, the crackle of a campfire, and the rustle of leaves rather than the hum of an air conditioner, then Catface Corner Campground is designed for you. It's an ideal spot for tent campers, stargazers, and anyone looking to unplug and immerse themselves in Florida's natural environment.
Location and Accessibility
Catface Corner Campground is nestled at 10850 Rosin Road, Sanderson, FL 32087, USA. While its location offers a feeling of seclusion, it's remarkably accessible for Florida residents. Situated within easy driving distance for many in Northeast Florida, it serves as a convenient escape into the wilderness without requiring an extensive journey. Upon approaching, visitors should look for a sign on Rosin Road to identify the correct area, as it is a rustic spot that doesn't boast large, flashy entranceways. Despite its natural setting, it's close enough to county roads and State Road 2 that some ambient road noise may be heard, especially during the day. However, this typically diminishes significantly at night, allowing for peaceful evenings. The presence of nearby train tracks means an occasional train might pass, adding to the rustic, almost nostalgic, ambiance for some. This location offers a true sense of being "away from it all" while still being within a reasonable distance for local emergency services if needed, providing a comforting balance for primitive campers.
Services Offered
Designated Campsites: The campground offers approximately five clearly defined campsites, each with a designated area for setting up your tent.

Fire Rings: Essential for the quintessential camping experience, each site includes a fire ring, allowing for campfires (when regulations permit) and cooking over an open flame. Some may come with grill tops for added convenience.
Trash Cans: Each campsite is provided with a trash can, encouraging campers to keep the area clean and "pack it in, pack it out" practices for responsible waste disposal.
Lantern Posts: A thoughtful addition, lantern posts are available at each site, providing a convenient spot to hang a lantern for evening illumination.
Primitive Camping Experience: This campground offers a truly primitive experience, meaning there are no restroom facilities (no toilets, vault toilets, or portable toilets) and no potable water available on-site. Campers must be fully self-sufficient.

Catface Corner Campground (Florida Forest Service) Reviews
This is a rustic campground with no toilet facilities or water. There are about five campsites, each with a trash can, tent pad, picnic table and fire ring. There is a sign on Rosin Road to identify the correct area. There is a little road noise, but the traffic is almost nonexistent at night. I did hear a train once in the night. The stars were great.
Dec 22, 2024 · Victor BantaI would give it 5 starts but finding the campground is very hard since there are no signs on the main county road. Also, traffic can get loud from the county road and state road 2. Also trains run all night. But the sites are nice and there are tons of stars.
