This address places it in a truly unique and elevated position, literally "on top of the mountain," offering the unparalleled panoramic views that give the campground its name. For Pennsylvania locals, reaching Jim Thorpe is generally a straightforward drive from various parts of the state, making it an accessible destination for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation. Once you arrive in the Jim Thorpe area, the drive up to 100 Mile View Camping will take you to higher elevations, rewarding you with those spectacular long-range views. While the campground offers a sense of seclusion and being "in the woods," it remains incredibly convenient to local attractions. As noted by a reviewer, "There are few trails around… some restaurants and attractions within 10 min." This means you can enjoy the quietude of the mountaintop setting, then easily venture down into Jim Thorpe for dining, exploring shops, or visiting historical sites like the Old Jail Museum or the Asa Packer Mansion.
The proximity to the Lehigh Gorge State Park also provides extensive opportunities for outdoor activities like whitewater rafting, kayaking, biking on the Lehigh Gorge Trail, and hiking. While the campground is high up, it’s not too far removed from essential services. Its location near the popular tourist destination of Jim Thorpe ensures that while you're enjoying basic camping, conveniences are just a short drive away. It is worth noting that being on a mountaintop, it "can be windy," which is part of the authentic high-elevation experience.
100 Mile View Camping embraces a more traditional, basic camping experience, emphasizing nature and relaxation over extensive amenities. However, it still provides essential services to ensure a comfortable stay.
Campsites: The campground accommodates both RVs and tents, offering flexibility for different camping styles. Sites are generally spacious enough to include picnic tables and fireplaces (fire rings).

Authentic "On Top of the World" Feeling: The high elevation provides a unique sense of being "on top of the world," offering refreshing air and a distinct mountain atmosphere that can be invigorating, even if it means it "can be windy."
Proximity to Jim Thorpe Attractions: While offering a secluded camping experience, the campground is only about a 10-minute drive from the vibrant town of Jim Thorpe, allowing for easy access to restaurants, shops, and various attractions without sacrificing the peaceful camping environment.
Basic & Clean Facilities: For a campground focused on a more natural experience, the cleanliness of the portable toilets and the inclusion of sinks are highly appreciated amenities that enhance comfort.
Access to Local Trails: The presence of "few trails around" the campground offers immediate opportunities for light hiking and exploring the surrounding woods, perfect for nature lovers.
While 100 Mile View Camping focuses on providing a direct, quality camping experience with outstanding views, specific "promotions or special offers" are not explicitly detailed in the available public information. However, the mention of "perfect price for it" when discussing firewood suggests an overall value-for-money approach by the campground. Apr 13, 2025 · Paige T.Okay. My friend Paul made the reservation, and I cursed him as I pedaled the 3.8 miles upto this campground, in the rain, because it started to rain again. Okay, it was a drizzle, but I still cursed him. All I remembered that he said, was "Red Gravel Road" and when I came to that and THAT road climbed more and it wasn't paved, I dug in and finished it off. Mind you my bike is loaded with camping gear. When I arrived at the top finally, I could immediately see the "100" in the 100 Mile View. The sweeping vista was fantastic, however, I was wet, and it was windy and the road up splits the sites between 1-40 and 41-80. "I haven't clue what site we are in!" and that is when a young man started walking towards me like he was expecting me. It was the owners son and he pointed me to an overflow area that was for us, which happened to be right there at the top. Our water was there, and by the time he brought the wood over, the owner himself (Jacob?) came over and greeted me. When I mentioned that I wasn't sure I could get the fire started, he got a blow torch ouit of his truck and started the fire while I changed into dry clothing (it stopped raining) and set up my tent in the very gusty conditions. About this time, James and Paul arrived up the hill claiming I must have flown up the mountain, because they never saw me again once I left the restaurant. Ha! Anyway, set up we were, and gusty it was, with the light fading, I was glad we had eaten in town. By the time my tent was setup for sleep, the fire was warm with a bed of coals, and the wind kept the smoke blowing into the valley. Tree line and grass (wet) was far away, so no dangers here.In the morning it was still a little windy, and I boiled water in my vestibule, and got up to enjoy that 100 mile view. An excellent spot indeed.Yes, I forgave Paul.
May 31, 2025 · J Eric HallanderNice private camp ground near to Jim Thorpe, Lehigh Valley, and Hickory Run. Awesome views. Well groomed camp sites with great fire pits. Customer service was top notch and very accommodating. I'd stay here again if I'm back in the area.
