Wekiva Falls RV Resort embodies many of these characteristics, with its direct access to a natural sulfur spring and proximity to the Wekiva River. While the resort offers an array of enticing features, it's crucial to understand both the celebrated aspects and the challenges reported by some guests and residents to make an informed decision. We will delve into the specifics of Wekiva Falls, from its strategic location in Sorrento to the various activities and amenities that define its character, providing a comprehensive and balanced perspective for anyone considering this Central Florida gem.
Wekiva Falls RV Resort is conveniently located at 30700 Wekiva River Rd, Sorrento, FL 32776, USA. Sorrento is a charming community nestled in Lake County, Florida, known for its natural landscapes and proximity to the famous Wekiva River. This strategic location places Wekiva Falls within a significant natural preserve area, offering a sense of seclusion and immersion in Florida's unique ecosystem, while still maintaining central accessibility.
The resort's position makes it a prime base for exploring Central Florida. It is centrally located, making it "easier to do other things as well," including trips to both the ocean (Daytona Beach) and other popular activities, such as Orlando's theme parks and attractions, which are approximately 30 minutes away. Major roadways, including State Road 46, provide good connectivity to surrounding towns like Sanford (approximately 5 miles away), Mount Dora, and beyond. This accessibility ensures that while guests and residents can enjoy the tranquility of a natural setting, they are never far from urban conveniences, including shopping, dining, and healthcare facilities.
Furthermore, the resort's name, "Wekiva Falls," directly references its close ties to the Wekiva River, one of Florida's two "Wild and Scenic" rivers. This proximity provides unparalleled opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts interested in canoeing, kayaking, and enjoying the pristine natural environment. The surrounding state-owned preserve land further enhances the feeling of being connected to nature, offering a unique blend of resort amenities and untouched wilderness for those who appreciate Florida's ecological treasures.

- RV Sites with Full Hookups: The resort offers numerous RV sites, including super sites for larger rigs, with full hookups (30/50 amp electrical, water, sewer), catering to various RV sizes.
- Mobile Home Lots: Wekiva Falls also serves as a manufactured housing community, offering lots for those looking for a more permanent or seasonal residence.
- Tent Camping: For those who prefer a more traditional camping experience, tent sites are available, including some shaded options near the spring run.
- Utility Connections: While available, it's important to note that some residents have reported issues with water quality (frequent boil requirements, sulfur smell) and electrical supply consistency and voltage, suggesting that while the service is offered, its reliability can be a concern.
- On-Site Management: There is an on-site management team to assist with check-ins, inquiries, and park operations. However, some reviews suggest challenges in escalating concerns to higher management.
- Camp Store/Market: A convenience store on the property provides essential supplies, snacks, and gifts.
- Laundry Facilities: Modern laundry facilities are available for guest and resident use.
- Restrooms and Showers: Clean and accessible restrooms and hot showers are provided throughout the park.
- Propane Sales: On-site propane availability adds to the convenience for RVers.
- Rental Cottages: Fully furnished vacation cottages are available for rent, providing an alternative accommodation option.
- Boat/Kayak/Canoe Rentals: The resort offers rentals for watercraft, providing direct access to the Wekiva River for paddling adventures.
- Pet-Friendly Amenities: The presence of a dog park caters to guests and residents with pets.
Wekiva Falls RV Resort boasts a range of features designed to offer fun and relaxation, yet it's crucial to consider the full spectrum of resident experiences:
- Natural Sulfur Spring Lagoon: A major highlight is the resort's natural sulfur spring, featuring a beautiful lagoon area perfect for swimming, complete with two thrilling waterslides and a sandy beach. The spring maintains a comfortable 72°F year-round.
- Tiki Bar: The on-site Tiki Bar is a popular spot for adults to enjoy beverages and socialize, contributing to the resort atmosphere.
- Abundant Activities and Events: There's "always something to do," with a monthly calendar of planned activities including potluck social hours, bingo, dances, day trips, shuffleboard, bunco nights, and live entertainment.
- Clubhouse and Amenities: A spacious 9,000-square-foot clubhouse, game room, fitness center, library, pickleball courts, and shuffleboard courts offer numerous recreational opportunities.
- Proximity to Wekiva River: Easy access to the Wekiva River via a grassy launch area allows for excellent opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, and enjoying one of Florida's "Wild and Scenic" rivers.
- Friendly Community and Wildlife: Many visitors appreciate the "nice people" and enjoy seeing the "different wildlife" around the resort, fostering a connection with nature.
- Central Location: Its central Florida location provides easy access to major attractions in Orlando and Daytona Beach, making it convenient for day trips.
However, it is equally important to acknowledge significant concerns voiced by some residents and long-term guests:
- Water Quality Issues: Frequent water outages and "boil requirements" due to unsafe consumption, coupled with an "overwhelming sulfur smell" described as "sickening" (rotten eggs), are major and consistent complaints.
- Unreliable Electrical Supply: Reports of electrical supply voltages "in excess of 133 volts per leg over extended periods," causing damage to appliances, are a serious concern.
- Management Unresponsiveness and Selective Enforcement: Complaints include management telling residents to contact utility companies directly for issues they perceive as resort responsibility, lack of response from Canadian headquarters, and "selectively enforced" rules with arbitrary fines.
- Rising Rates with Decreased Amenities: Residents note that rates continue to increase despite a "decrease in amenities," such as the lack of an on-site restaurant or consistent entertainment.
- Focus on Workers vs. Resort Seekers: Some feel the facility primarily "caters to workers looking for a place to live, not for resort seekers," potentially impacting the overall resort experience.

Wekiva Falls RV Resort presents a complex picture for local Floridians considering it as a place to live or an extended vacation destination. Its suitability hinges on an individual's priorities and tolerance for certain challenges. On the positive side, for locals who cherish proximity to nature, the resort's unique natural sulfur spring lagoon, direct access to the Wekiva River, and surrounding state preserve lands offer unparalleled opportunities for outdoor activities like swimming, kayaking, and wildlife observation. The vibrant social scene, with its active Tiki bar, clubhouse, and array of planned activities, is a significant draw for those seeking an engaging community atmosphere. For many Floridians, the central location, providing easy access to both Orlando's attractions and the Atlantic coast, is also a considerable advantage, offering a convenient base for exploring the state.
However, it is crucial for any local considering Wekiva Falls to be fully aware of the persistent concerns raised by some residents, particularly regarding water quality issues (sulfur smell, boil advisories, outages) and electrical supply reliability. While the resort offers an attractive "resort" aesthetic near its main attractions, the day-to-day living experience for long-term residents can be impacted by these infrastructure challenges and perceived management unresponsiveness. For those who prioritize resort-style amenities and a lively community, and are prepared to manage potential utility inconveniences or are looking for a shorter-term stay, Wekiva Falls might still hold appeal. However, a thorough investigation and direct communication with both management and current residents are essential to ensure it aligns with your expectations for a comfortable and reliable living environment in Florida.

Wekiva Falls Reviews
We love Wekiva Falls RV Resort. There's always something to do from the lagoon to the pool to the tiki bar. Love seeing the different wildlife and the people are nice too. The location is central to the ocean and other activities which makes it easier to do other things as well.
Jun 24, 2025 · Jessica AselIf you are looking for a campground with water you can use, reliable electricity and well maintained grounds, this is not the facility for you. The water goes out frequently and when it is working it isn’t safe for consumption many times there are boil requirements in place to even use it for dishwashing or cleaning. Electric supply voltages are often in excess of 133 volts per leg over extended periods of time causing damage to appliances and electrical equipment like air conditioners and washing machines. If you complain to the resort management they simply tell you to call US Water or Duke Electric and take no responsibility. If you try to escalate to their Canadian headquarters, you get voicemail and no response. The overwhelming sulfur smell from the leach infested aquifer is sickening but over time you get used to it. Their rates continue to increase despite the decrease in amenities like the lack of an on-site restaurant or entertainment. Their rules are selectively enforced depending on how the management likes you and they add fines to your account if they think you don’t comply. All in all, this facility caters to workers looking for a place to live, not for resort seekers. They cater to seasonal Canadians since they are a Canadian owned property. We do not recommend the campground unless you don’t need water, electricity and you enjoy the smell of rotten eggs.
May 29, 2025 · Ron & Beth SchlichtThis is not a resort! This is a mobile home/rv park, that is not what pictures show. It's very run down. The lagoon was closed! This was not disclosed to us when we paid our deposit over the phone, we discovered this once we arrived. Place has a ton of people the have lived here for years and years. The water goes out all the time sometimes short sometimes long time. They always have messages about boil it and all that because water is nasty! When it is actually on. Stayed here for a job and had to change my water filter sometimes twice a month. The golf cart trail is cool and some fishing also, But again no resort. Alot of very dirty lots and trash. Seem more and more items are being stolen also. HAPPY CAMPING!!
May 02, 2025 · Kyle JohnsonIt was so calming and the residents were so friendly and loving. The sulfur sprite was under construction but the tribe was very welcoming. Love you Jen, James, Mrs. Debbie and of course my lovely sister Jessica, you guys made our stay very memorable!💗
Apr 20, 2025 · Sharon RamosAwesome place, very clean, quiet, and well taken care off. We had a “super site” next to the Market, playground, trash and laundry. Plenty of things to do and picnic tables everywhere. The lagoon was closed but too cold to swim anyway during our 2024 Christmas trip. Dog park was very basic but lots of poop left everywhere. Really sad when they have dog poop bags and trash and stationed everywhere (not the sites fault). Very helpful and friendly staff in the front office. No cell service and WiFi wasn’t really great but we didn’t need it anyway. We will definitely be back.
