Turtle Lake RV Park Introduce
Turtle Lake RV Park, located in Cleveland, Texas, presents a unique blend of RV camping and a lively commercial atmosphere, being intimately connected with an on-site flea market. This park caters to RV enthusiasts who are looking for a convenient stopover or a longer-term stay in the heart of the Piney Woods region, with the added benefit of a bustling weekend market right at their doorstep. It's a destination that offers more than just a place to park your RV; it provides an active environment where community and commerce often intertwine.
For those considering Turtle Lake RV Park, it’s important to understand its dual nature. While it aims to provide the essential services for RVers, its evolution has seen a significant emphasis on the flea market aspect, which directly impacts the guest experience. This can be a draw for some, offering entertainment and unique shopping opportunities, while for others, it might present different considerations. The park strives to offer a accessible and engaging environment for both its RV guests and flea market patrons.
Turtle Lake RV Park is conveniently situated at 3696 US-59, Cleveland, TX 77327, USA. This prime location places it directly on US Highway 59 (which is also designated as I-69 in parts), a major thoroughfare that connects Houston to the south with communities further north and into East Texas. Cleveland itself is a growing city in Liberty County, known for its strategic location within the heavily forested Piney Woods region and its proximity to the Sam Houston National Forest, offering numerous outdoor recreational possibilities.
The accessibility of Turtle Lake RV Park is a significant advantage due to its direct frontage on US-59. This makes for very easy arrivals and departures, eliminating the challenges of navigating complex local roads often associated with rural RV parks. For those traveling with larger RVs, direct highway access is invaluable. Its location on a major highway also means quick access to Cleveland’s essential services, including gas stations, grocery stores, dining establishments, and other retail outlets. This convenience is a strong selling point for both transient RVers and those planning extended stays. The integration with a flea market on the property also means that on weekends, the area becomes a vibrant hub of activity, providing unique local flavor and entertainment right at the park's doorstep. While easy access is a benefit, it also means proximity to highway noise and the increased traffic associated with the flea market on certain days, which are important considerations for prospective guests.
Turtle Lake RV Park offers a range of services aimed at making your RV stay comfortable, although recent changes have impacted some aspects. Based on general RV park offerings and customer feedback, services typically include:
- RV Sites: The park provides spaces for RVs, though the layout and features have evolved. Previously shaded spots have reportedly been converted to accommodate more flea market space.
- Utility Hookups: Essential hookups for water, sewer, and electricity are typically provided at each RV site. However, a significant concern raised in reviews is the consistency of electrical power. One reviewer stated, "They can’t keep the power on half the time. Every single afternoon the power shuts off multiple times until the sun goes down. The maintenance guy has to go out to the breaker box and turn it back on. It’s only a matter of time before it damages the everyone’s campers with the constant power surges." This is a crucial point for anyone relying on consistent power.
- On-site Management: Feedback indicates that the park has management, with one customer noting, "the family does like the manager," suggesting a positive relationship with some guests.
- Flea Market Access: A distinguishing service is the integrated flea market, which operates on weekends, providing an on-site attraction for residents and visitors.
The features and highlights of Turtle Lake RV Park offer a distinct experience, particularly due to its evolving nature and unique combination with a flea market.
- Integrated Flea Market: The most prominent feature is the on-site flea market. This provides a vibrant, dynamic atmosphere on weekends, offering shopping opportunities, people-watching, and a lively buzz that is uncommon for most RV parks. However, this also means increased traffic and potential noise during market hours. One review highlighted this change, stating, "Used to be a nice place until they took out all the trees and the rv spots that were shaded to add more flea market. The flea market is a nightmare good luck getting through on the weekends. Now it's literally right at the rest doors."
- Convenient Highway Location: Direct access to US-59 is a significant advantage for easy travel and accessibility to Cleveland's amenities.
- Manager Friendliness: Despite other concerns, some guests have expressed positive experiences with the park manager, suggesting a welcoming element to the service.
- Dynamic Environment: For those who enjoy an active, bustling environment, especially on weekends, the integration with the flea market offers a unique and engaging experience.
However, it's essential to acknowledge key concerns from customer reviews:
- Power Reliability Issues: Frequent power outages and surges are a significant reported problem that could potentially damage RV electrical systems. This is a critical factor for comfort and safety.
- Loss of Shade/Trees: The removal of trees for flea market expansion has resulted in a "big hot sun pit," reducing natural shade and potentially increasing heat, especially during Texas summers.
- Increased Weekend Crowds and Noise: The flea market generates significant traffic and activity on weekends, which could be disruptive for those seeking a quiet retreat.

Turtle Lake RV Park offers a unique proposition for locals in the Texas region, especially those near Cleveland, who have an RV. For Texans who enjoy a lively atmosphere and the convenience of a flea market right at their doorstep, this park could be a fascinating option. It provides a distinct blend of residential living and commercial activity that is not commonly found in typical RV parks. The easy access from US-59 makes it a practical choice for those who travel frequently or need a convenient base for exploring Southeast Texas. However, locals considering a stay, particularly a long-term one, must weigh the unique benefits against the reported challenges, primarily the power reliability issues and the increased activity and reduced shade due to the flea market expansion. For those who are resilient, adaptable, and appreciate a dynamic environment—perhaps even enjoying the weekend flea market as a regular activity—Turtle Lake RV Park could offer a different kind of home base. It’s suitable for Texans who prioritize accessibility and an active, community-driven atmosphere, and who are prepared to manage potential utility fluctuations.

Don’t bother staying here if you need power to your camper. They can’t keep the power on half the time. Every single afternoon the power shuts off multiple times until the sun goes down. The maintenance guy has to go out to the breaker box and turn it back on. It’s only a matter of time before it damages the everyone’s campers with the constant power surges.
Jul 03, 2025 · Andy JohnsonUsed to be a nice place until they took out all the trees and the rv spots that were shaded to add more flea market. The flea market is a nightmare good luck getting through on the weekends. Now it's literally right at the rest doors. No more trees around the ponds just a big hot sun pit with tons of flea market tables (no your records will not indicate im a guest, have family there and live down the road) i can say that the family does like the manager.

Dec 27, 2021 · Aaliyah GuilloryI really love the place! It has ducks and they are friendly! The manager is one awesome woman! Peaceful and quiet place! There's a BBQ truck and a toco truck on site! Come see us 🇺🇸
Apr 17, 2022 · Debbie StephensonI've been staying here now since October '22 & nothings been stolen, no problems whatsoever from anyone; straight up caretakers and staff have been nothing but good to me in every way. Neighbors are helpful. I'm an RV newbie so nearby RV'rs helped me get my rig in & set up and all. It's now April '23 and I'm content as can be. Watch out for the mommy ducks & babies crossing the roads, it's 5 MPH inside the park!
