Gem of a Place surrounded by reserve & close enough to Trolley station to be able to go to Downtown San Diego or Border. Great parks nearby, walking paths, view of Bay & right down highway/freeway is Drive-in! You can bring food into Drive-in & watch two movies, enjoy perfect weather. Location gets nice ocean breezes. Beautiful Quiet location. Can fish off pier close by. Fantastic pool... what more could you ask for.

We usually spend our summers here. Not anymore. With all the problems in California we decided not to come this summer.The problems:Homeless people. Yes they come and steal your bikes from your trailer. They also start toxic fires right outside the camp ground. I don’t feel safe here anymore.Other issues. Californias beaches are full of toxic waste so you can not swim in the ocean.The resort use to offer pool classes, Pilates and yoga. Not anymore.The pool has too many people that aren’t staying at the resort coming in from outside the park. The pool tiles are full of sunscreen scum. So gross. Too many people and not enough people to clean up after sloppy people. I’ve also seen cafe staff let in their friends/family into the pool area.The people at the front desk especially the young girls are useless as tits on a bull. Rude and unhelpful.I have to so say the maintenance team is awesome and super helpful and friendly!I could come up with other things but these are the main issues. I’d rather spend my hard earned money somewhere else than California. Maybe if California can get their mess of a state fixed we’ll come back? If the resort starts putting its long term clients that spend a lot of money, needs first we’ll come back. But I doubt they will.

We rented a two bedroom cottage here for 6 nights, we were visiting my parents who were here in an RV. The start here was a bit shaky, the younger woman at the front desk who checked us in was rude and unhelpful, we quickly learned to talk to other staff at the front desk if we needed help. The cafe has odd hours and we were disappointed that it wasn't open for breakfast during our stay. It also wasn't open very late, we stopped by at 730pm to use our drink tickets and it was closed.The resort has nice amenities, trails, arcade, pool, etc. We enjoyed walking around it. We enjoyed the arcade a lot as well, it was a bit expensive but nicely kept up.The cottage was okay. It wasn't the cleanest and the trash from the previous guests was still in the trashcan when we got there, we were struggling to get a hold of the front desk so ended up taking it out ourselves. Not the best way to start a vacation. They did have ample towels, soap and shampoo.There was a huge pile of black hair on the floor of the bathroom which I also ended up cleaning up and the shower floor was unstable and cracked which made it a bit crazy to take a shower. The space is tight and there was no storage, so we ended up leaving our clothes in our suitcases. There is no drawer space and very little hanging space. There was room for a nice closet area but it was left as an odd open space with a small bench. No luggage racks or anything. The place looked really beat up, especially considering these cottages are only a few years old.We did like the outdoor space. The fire pit was really nice and there's a nice table out there. Unfortunately it rained the majority of our stay so we didn't get to use this much. There is a TV in the adult bedroom and a TV in the dining/living space. The TV in the dining/living space was placed very oddly, you couldn't really watch it from the couch. There was no TV in the kids bedroom area.This isn't the worst cottage I have rented in an RV park but it wasn't worth the high price either.

We have been coming to this resort for the past 4 Memorial Day weekends with our family and friends. Unfortunately this last year was the most money we have ever paid, and it was also the worst shape the park has been in. I’m not sure what’s going on with the property management, but the bushes are all overgrown, weeds throughout the campsites and cottages, and worst of all, the homeless population outside of the gates continues to grow, more visible to guests and causing safety concerns for guests of the park. Theft has been an issue here of bikes and personal property and it’s only going to get worse if no action is taken on the company’s behalf to have the city do something about the nearby encampments. Now with the Gaylord Pacific Hotel opened up with fantastic pool amenities, I’m not sure the cottages are the best option anymore, as fun as they were to stay in. If Sun Outdoors wants to continue to draw people in, they are going to need to step up their maintenance of the property and take action to get the encampments removed, otherwise I can see it getting worse and worse.

We spend a lot of time at various RV parks and have come to this one the past 3 years. After looking at some of the reviews, we decided to provide our pov.First of all, this is a very pleasant, safe park that is fenced and secure. We have never seen a homeless person in the park and I'm sure if they tried to enter, they wouldn't last long. We walk outside the park quite a bit (the recently developed Sweetwater park is quite beautiful). Since the developerment of that park and the the new Gaylord hotel (which is spectacular), we have noticed very few homeless (except for the encampment along the railroad tracks but that's easy to avoid).With respect to the customer service desk and maintenance staff, we have found them to pleasant, professional and competent.The pool area is very nice but be advised there are lots of kids rollicking in the water. All the amenities are well maintained and the sites are plenty big and accommodate those highway monsters that seem to be dominating the RV world nowadays. The propane fire pits are a nice feature on the sites, especially with the cool coastal evenings.The food at the cafe is ok but nothing to write home about.The only real negative I can offer is the poor wifi. It works most of the time but does not meet the standards of most other upscale resorts.It's pricey, but heck, we're on the San Diego Bay.
