Southern Comfort RV Park Introduce
For RV enthusiasts and travelers in Alabama, finding the right RV park is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Southern Comfort RV Park, located in Elberta, Alabama, is a destination that some might consider for their temporary or extended stay. As local users, it's important to have a clear and factual understanding of what to expect when considering this park.
Southern Comfort RV Park aims to provide a place for RVers to set up camp in the Elberta area. For many, an RV park represents a home away from home, a place of relaxation and convenience. While every park strives to offer a positive experience, it's essential to be informed about the realities of staying at any location. Recent customer feedback suggests that potential visitors should be aware of certain issues that have been reported by previous guests. These concerns primarily revolve around infrastructure, communication, and property care, which are vital aspects for any RVer.
It's understood that managing an RV park comes with its challenges, and individual experiences can vary. However, consistent themes in reviews highlight areas that warrant careful consideration. When looking for an RV park, especially for a longer stay, reliability of utilities, responsiveness of management, and respect for personal property are paramount. This overview aims to present a balanced perspective based on available public information, allowing you, as a local user in Alabama, to make an informed decision for your RVing needs.
Southern Comfort RV Park is situated on Happy Acres Drive in Elberta, AL 36530, USA. Elberta is a small town in Baldwin County, offering a quieter, more rural setting compared to the bustling coastal cities like Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, though still within a reasonable driving distance to these popular destinations. This location might appeal to those who prefer a more tranquil environment away from heavy tourist traffic, while still being able to access the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast beaches and attractions with a short drive.
Accessibility to the park from major routes would typically involve navigating local roads off larger highways such as US-98 or AL-59. While the specific entry and exit points for large RVs are not detailed in the provided information, the address suggests it is located on a named drive, which usually implies established road access. Being in Elberta means the park is somewhat removed from immediate amenities but within driving distance to towns like Foley, which offers a broader range of shopping, dining, and services.
For RVers who prioritize a peaceful setting over direct walking access to commercial areas or beaches, Elberta's location can be advantageous. It provides a more laid-back atmosphere often sought by those looking to relax and enjoy the slower pace of rural Alabama life, while still having the option to explore the more vibrant coastal areas when desired. However, guests should be prepared to drive for most errands and entertainment options.
Based on the provided customer reviews, while specific official listings of services are not available, we can infer some of the intended offerings and reported issues related to them. Common services at RV parks typically include:
- Full RV Hookups: This generally includes connections for water, electricity (e.g., 30-amp and 50-amp), and sewer at individual sites. However, recent reviews indicate significant issues with electrical hookups, with reports of undersized and improperly connected wiring leading to costly repairs for campers. There were also mentions of a broken septic hookup that seeped raw sewage, which was reportedly fixed after a four-month period.
- Site Availability: The park offers spaces for RVs, as evidenced by individuals attempting to move their RVs onto rented spots.
- On-site Management/Staff: A park manager, Robby, is mentioned in reviews as being helpful and attempting to resolve issues, though his ability to do so was reportedly limited by the owner. There are also reports of management being unresponsive to text messages and having a full voicemail, indicating potential communication difficulties.
- Grounds Maintenance: While mowing of the property occurs, there are serious complaints about a "no regard for your property" approach, with rocks hitting and damaging campers, cargo trailers, and vehicles on multiple occasions, and the owner reportedly unwilling to fix the damage.
It is important to note that the positive aspects of services, such as functional and reliable utilities and respectful property maintenance, are crucial for a satisfactory RV park experience, and these are areas where improvement has been suggested by previous guests.
Based on the customer reviews, the highlights and features of Southern Comfort RV Park primarily revolve around its location and the potential for a quiet setting, although operational challenges have significantly impacted guest experience:
- Location in Elberta: Offers a more secluded and potentially quieter atmosphere compared to direct coastal towns, appealing to those seeking a less crowded environment.
- Access to Gulf Coast Attractions: While not directly on the beach, its location in Elberta provides reasonable driving access to the beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, as well as other local attractions in Baldwin County.
- Presence of a Park Manager: Robby, the park manager, has been noted by a reviewer as being helpful and attempting to address guest concerns, even if his authority to fully resolve issues was reportedly constrained.
However, it is crucial to balance these potential highlights with the significant concerns raised by multiple reviewers. These concerns, which directly impact the "features" of a pleasant stay, include:
- Electrical Issues: Reported problems with undersized and improperly hooked-up electrical wiring leading to financial costs for campers.
- Septic System Malfunctions: An overflowing septic tank and a broken septic hookup that seeped raw sewage for an extended period indicate infrastructure deficiencies.
- Lack of Property Care During Mowing: Allegations of rocks being thrown and damaging guest property during mowing, with no willingness from the owner to address the damage.
- Communication Difficulties: Reports of unanswered texts and full voicemails when trying to reach management/owner for assistance.
- Unresolved Issues: A sentiment that despite the manager's efforts, significant problems are not being adequately or promptly resolved by the owner.
These reported issues are significant and would be critical considerations for any RVer evaluating a stay at Southern Comfort RV Park.

Southern Comfort RV Park Reviews
I am trying to move into my RV that I parked at Southern Comfort RV Park, but the septic tank is overflowing! I paid for the month of August and haven't been able to move in. The manager has not answered my text messages. The phone's voicemail is full. Do not rent here!!!
Aug 22, 2024 · Shirley KelleyMy wife and I have been at this park for 4 months. When we first arrived we had electrical issues, thinking it was my camper we a repair guy out. Again today same issues upon further investigation we found the park wires are under sized and and not properly hooked up. Twice now it has cost over 300 dollars. Also when the owner does decide to mow, which is not very often, there is absolutely no regard for your property. Throwing rocks hitting our camper, cargo trail and vehicles on 2 occasions and not willing to fix any damage. There was also a broken septic hook up next to us that seeped raw sewage during rain. That was finally fixed after 4 months. The park manager, Robby, has tried to be very helpful and get our issues resolved but his hands are tied by the owner. Please beware and make sure these issues are repaired before renting here.
Sep 23, 2023 · Michael KaneRandy & Christine are great hosts; friendly and fast to respond. The park is new, clean and amenities are “coming soon”, so no onsite laundry or washrooms yet. Pads are crushed stone and easy to back into. The convenient location is near Elberta and Foley, AL. Be sure to try Mr. Burrito 2 miles away on 98. Great food and live music on Friday nights.
