Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park

RV park, Campground ★4.0

516 S Salinas St, Santa Barbara, CA 93103, USA

4.0
I’ve driven past this place for years but never had the need to stop in. This week I needed a place to stay for a few days during a construction project. Yes it’s close to freeway, but that’s the point- it’s in a busy tourist town and provides a convenient, clean and friendly environment. From the initial conversation on the phone for reservations to a quick introduction when I arrived, they are focused on what they can provide and what you can do rather than some places that are all about restrictions. it is clean and well maintained. I imagine as a tourist coming through for a couple days. This would be a great base camp. - Glen L

Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park Introduce

For California RV and camping enthusiasts, finding a clean, well-serviced, and—most importantly—conveniently located spot in the iconic, high-demand city of Santa Barbara is often a major challenge. Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park meets this need directly, positioning itself as the premier urban basecamp for exploring the American Riviera. This park is a unique find, offering full RV amenities right within the city limits, providing unparalleled access to the beach, the Funk Zone, and State Street's cultural core.

The park's mission is simple: to offer a clean, friendly, and restriction-light environment for travelers. Customer feedback consistently praises the friendly and dependable staff, highlighting a management philosophy focused on helping guests enjoy their stay rather than enforcing excessive rules. While the park is recognized as an urban setting—situated adjacent to the freeway—this proximity is also its greatest asset, ensuring visitors spend less time driving and more time experiencing Santa Barbara's myriad attractions.

The community prides itself on being LGBTQ+ friendly and a Transgender safespace, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all California residents and tourists. By accommodating big rigs up to 47 feet with slides, and offering essential full hookups, the park ensures a comfortable stay for virtually all types of recreational vehicles, making it an essential stop along California's scenic Highway 101.

Introduction / Overview

Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park is a well-established, family-owned urban RV park and campground. Unlike many California parks that require a drive into the mountains or outside the city limits, this park is nestled directly within the vibrant urban landscape of Santa Barbara. It is a small park, generally offering around 31 full hookup sites, which contributes to a more intimate and manageable atmosphere. The sites are composed of level gravel lots designed to accommodate a variety of RV sizes, including larger rigs (up to 47 feet) and various pull-through options, which is a significant convenience in a compact city setting.

A key feature of the park is its focus on functionality and cleanliness. The facilities are noted for being well-maintained and tidy, a crucial factor for travelers who depend on shared amenities. The park operates as a true basecamp—a clean and secure place to park, connect utilities, and recharge, allowing guests to spend their days exploring the city, rather than being a destination campground in itself. This functional design caters perfectly to California's tourist population seeking convenient city access.

The rates are competitive for the area, generally starting around $60-$70 per night, reflecting the premium value of a central Santa Barbara location. Guests can expect a straightforward process from reservation to check-out, with management known for its helpfulness, including assisting with the often-challenging maneuver of parking larger rigs in an urban setting.

Location and Accessibility

The park is strategically located at 516 S Salinas St, Santa Barbara, CA 93103, USA. Its position at the junction of Highway 101 and Salinas Street means guests have direct, quick access to the freeway, making it an ideal stopover or exploration hub.

  • Beach Access: The park is within easy walking or biking distance of East Beach and the Santa Barbara Waterfront, allowing immediate enjoyment of the Pacific Ocean. The scenic biking lanes along the waterfront are easily accessible.
