Salt Springs Resort

4.0
Spots are tight and extremely limited. It is really a retirement community. The pools are always dirty & broken. The concrete area all around the pool is broken. Some spot have grass, some pile of dirt. The walk to the lake area is a mess. They rarely cleaned up to broken limbs or mowed. The hot tub is broken & shut down. Everything about this place is old, broken and neglected. Sad because it once was fun and clean. - Pattay

Location and Accessibility

Salt Springs Resort is ideally situated at 14195 NE 252nd Ct Rd, Salt Springs, FL 32134, USA. This location is a significant highlight, as it places the resort deep within the stunning Ocala National Forest. For Floridians, this means immediate access to one of the state's most extensive and diverse natural treasures. The Ocala National Forest offers unparalleled opportunities for hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and exploring natural springs, including the famous Salt Springs Recreation Area just a stone's throw away.

While the resort offers a true "country feel," its accessibility is still practical for residents across Florida. It's reached via well-maintained roads that lead you directly into the heart of the forest, providing a sense of escape without being overly remote. This prime position allows for easy day trips to surrounding areas of natural beauty and charming small towns, all while returning to the peaceful embrace of the resort. Services Offered

Salt Springs Resort, as an established RV community, provides a foundational set of services designed to support both transient visitors and long-term residents. While some facilities might show their age, the core offerings are functional and contribute to the resort's unique character.

  • RV Lots for Purchase/Lease: A significant aspect of Salt Springs Resort is the opportunity to purchase or lease individual RV lots, fostering a strong sense of community and providing a permanent base for RV enthusiasts. This allows residents to truly make the place their own, adding personal touches to their sites.
  • Full Hookup Sites: Individual lots are typically equipped with full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewer connections, ensuring convenience for RV owners.
  • Lake Access: The resort offers direct or very close access to a lake, a key feature for those who enjoy fishing, boating, or watersports. While the walk to the lake area may be rustic, the presence of the lake itself is a major draw.
  • Community Pools: While reviews indicate that the pools may sometimes require maintenance, they are generally functional and available for guest use, providing a refreshing escape from the Florida heat.
  • Clubhouse: A clubhouse is available, serving as a central gathering point for community activities and social events, even if it has an older, country aesthetic.
  • Laundry Facilities: Given its nature as a place for longer stays, it is reasonable to expect on-site laundry facilities, though specific details on their condition would need direct inquiry.
  • Pet-Friendly Environment: The resort welcomes pets, allowing residents to bring their beloved companions along to enjoy the country setting.
  • Basic Utilities: Services like trash collection and mail delivery (for residents) are typically part of a residential-style RV community.

It's important for prospective visitors to understand that the focus here is on a rustic, lived-in feel rather than a newly polished resort experience, with amenities that are functional, yet may show signs of age or wear.

Features / Highlights

Salt Springs Resort stands out with several distinct features and highlights that appeal to a specific kind of RV traveler – one who values character, community, and an authentic country experience over modern luxury.

  • Opportunity to Own an RV Lot: A primary highlight is the ability to purchase your own RV lot. This creates a stable, long-term community where residents can customize their space and truly feel at home. One reviewer's experience of quickly purchasing a lot after visiting exemplifies this unique draw.
  • Country Feel and Character: The resort embraces a rustic, "country feel," which many find charming and authentic. While some facilities might be older, this contributes to its unique history and character, moving away from a sterile, modern resort vibe.
  • Lake Access and Outdoor Activities: The presence of a lake provides direct opportunities for fishing, boating (including jet skis or pontoon boats as envisioned by a new owner), and general relaxation by the water. This is a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Location within Ocala National Forest: Being embedded in the Ocala National Forest is a massive advantage. This offers unparalleled access to hiking, springs, kayaking, and the natural beauty that only a national forest can provide.
  • Community Atmosphere: The resort fosters a strong sense of community, largely due to the many residents who own their lots. This can lead to friendly interactions, shared activities, and a welcoming environment.
  • Relaxed Pace of Life: For those seeking to escape the fast-paced urban environment, Salt Springs Resort offers a slower, more relaxed pace, ideal for unwinding and living life at your own rhythm.
  • Potential for Updates: While some elements are described as needing updates, the functional nature of these facilities, coupled with the "good for what it is" perspective from some residents, suggests that the resort is cherished for its core offerings and future potential. New owners might even find opportunities to improve their own lots.
