Brent says I owe rent. I have asked for the invoices. He showed me half a dozen. I showed him the canceled checks from ever invoice he sent. It's now been a year and a half. He is now saying I owe rent. His first invoice is for 310. I paid 310. Well he has it on his run on tally since I been here and the balance from that says -69..... now wouldn't that make everything from that point on wrong? Yup! Then why I prove him wrong he gets angry and abusive. He starts putting me down for my disabilities witch I get ssdi for! Theb he will start making threats about kicking me out and taking my home from me that i sare with my 2 young children. What kinda man is this? He has come to my home picked on me for my disability wouldn't leave my home to the point I had to call the police on him. Today makes the 5th time in a 2 year time I have had this man become abusive towards me and put me down for my disabilities. I have asked many times to speak to someone else and he wont allow it. He wont even tell me the name of the company he works for or ownes even. Thats breaking the law far as my tenet rights. Its my right to know who i pay my rent to and talk to them if there is a problem with an employee or co owner. I didn't choose this life. I got hurt at work. Shame shame. There also is another guy here and Brent has rubbed his face onto the ground about his disabilities too. Numerous others have had to call the police on Brent and his 2 other brothers. If they weren't running the trailer park it would really be a nice place to stay. - Matt Benoit

For many New Yorkers, finding a comfortable and affordable place to call home can be a significant consideration, especially when looking for a blend of peaceful rural living and practical accessibility. Manufactured home communities offer a unique alternative to traditional housing, providing a pathway to homeownership that can often be more budget-friendly. One such community is Mountain View Mobile Home Park, located in the tranquil town of Stephentown, New York. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Mountain View Mobile Home Park, helping local residents understand what this community offers and what to consider if it aligns with their housing needs.

Manufactured home parks, often still referred to as mobile home parks, have evolved considerably, presenting a distinct option in today's housing market. They typically feature a structured living environment where residents own their home but lease the land it sits on. This model can lead to reduced upfront costs and potentially lower ongoing expenses compared to purchasing a traditional stick-built house. While the ideal experience in such communities includes well-maintained common areas and responsive management, it is crucial for prospective residents to gather comprehensive information to ensure a good fit.

The appeal of living in a community like Mountain View often stems from a desire for a quieter pace of life and the independence of homeownership. This type of housing can be attractive to those seeking a more financially manageable living situation without sacrificing the sense of having their own space. However, it is also important to consider all aspects of community life, including management interactions, as highlighted by existing resident feedback. For local New Yorkers exploring diverse housing options, understanding the full picture of a community is essential before making a decision.

It's about making an informed housing choice that suits your financial goals and lifestyle. By exploring options like Mountain View, residents can broaden their understanding of the various housing solutions available in the New York market. Let's delve into the details of what Mountain View Mobile Home Park offers, with a candid look at both its potential benefits and the concerns raised by some residents.

Location and Accessibility

Mountain View Mobile Home Park is located at 16622 NY-22, Stephentown, NY 12168, USA. This address places the community within the town of Stephentown, situated in Rensselaer County, New York. Stephentown is known for its picturesque rural landscape, offering a peaceful and quiet environment away from the density of urban centers.

For New York residents seeking a tranquil lifestyle, the location of Mountain View is a key draw. Situated on NY-22 (State Route 22), a prominent north-south state highway, the community maintains a degree of accessibility despite its rural setting. This route provides connections to larger towns and cities in Rensselaer County and beyond, making it possible for residents to access essential services, employment opportunities, and amenities. While Stephentown itself offers a more limited array of immediate services, nearby communities would provide options for grocery shopping, medical facilities, and other daily needs.

The surrounding area of Stephentown and Rensselaer County is rich in natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Residents can enjoy the scenic landscapes, local parks, and various outdoor activities that the region offers, such as hiking, fishing, and exploring the rural charm of upstate New York. This blend of serene living and reasonable accessibility to regional resources makes Mountain View's location a consideration for those looking for a quieter place to call home in New York.

Services Offered

Manufactured home communities typically provide a foundational set of services to their residents, which often include the infrastructure necessary for home placement and basic living. While specific details should always be confirmed directly with Mountain View Mobile Home Park management, common services generally offered in such communities include:

  • Lot Rental: Residents lease the individual plot of land where their manufactured home is placed. This monthly fee typically covers the use of the site and access to the community's general infrastructure.
  • Utility Hookups: The park generally provides the necessary connections for essential utilities such as water, sewer, and electricity to each home site. Residents are typically responsible for their individual consumption charges for these utilities, along with heating fuel (like propane or oil) and personal services such as internet and cable.
  • Common Area Maintenance: Management is typically responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of common areas within the park, which may include internal roads and any shared green spaces.
  • Community Management: A management presence is usually in place to handle inquiries, enforce community rules, and oversee the general operation of the park. However, as noted in resident reviews, the quality and professionalism of this interaction can vary significantly and should be a point of inquiry for prospective residents.

Features / Highlights

Mountain View Mobile Home Park's primary appeal lies in its location and the general concept of manufactured home living. Based on available information, here are potential features and highlights, acknowledging that resident experiences are varied:

  • Rural and Scenic Location: Situated in Stephentown, the community offers a quiet, rural setting with potential "mountain views" that could appeal to those seeking a peaceful environment away from urban sprawl.
  • Affordable Housing Option: Manufactured home parks generally offer a more accessible pathway to homeownership compared to traditional stick-built homes, which is a significant highlight for New Yorkers seeking cost-effective housing solutions.
  • Independent Living: Residents typically own their homes, providing a sense of independence and control over their living space.
  • Community Structure: The nature of a mobile home park provides a defined community layout, which can offer a sense of belonging to some residents.

It is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in resident reviews, which primarily focus on management issues. Multiple reviews highlight severe negative experiences with an individual named "Brent" and his "2 other brothers" who are reportedly involved in running the park. These concerns include:

  • Disputes over Rent/Invoices: Allegations of management claiming unpaid rent despite proof of payment, leading to ongoing disputes.
  • Abusive and Threatening Behavior: Reports of management becoming "angry and abusive," "putting down for disabilities," and "making threats about kicking me out and taking my home."
  • Harassment and Police Involvement: Instances where residents felt compelled to call the police due to management refusing to leave their homes or engaging in harassing behavior.
  • Lack of Transparency: Management reportedly refusing to provide the name of the company they work for or own, which raises concerns about tenant rights and accountability.
  • Negative Impact on Community: Comments suggest that if the individuals in question "weren't running the trailer park it would really be a nice place to stay," implying that the physical location and community itself have potential, but management issues significantly detract from it.

Prospective residents should exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence, including attempting to speak with multiple current residents and understanding the management structure, before considering Mountain View Mobile Home Park. These serious allegations suggest significant challenges with the current management practices.

Promotions or Special Offers

Information regarding specific promotions or special offers for Mountain View Mobile Home Park is not publicly available and has not been highlighted by resident reviews. Given the nature of the feedback, it is unlikely that any promotional offers would outweigh the serious concerns raised about management interactions.

However, in a general sense, manufactured home communities may sometimes offer incentives to attract new residents. These might include:

  • Reduced or waived application fees.
  • Move-in specials, such as a discount on lot rent for an initial period.
  • Assistance with relocation costs for existing manufactured homes.

Prospective residents considering Mountain View should prioritize a thorough investigation into the management situation over any potential financial incentives. Any discussions about promotions should be approached with caution and documented meticulously, given the reported issues with billing and communication.

Contact Information

For those who wish to inquire about Mountain View Mobile Home Park, despite the significant concerns raised by current residents, here is the provided contact information:

  • Address: 16622 NY-22, Stephentown, NY 12168, USA
  • Phone: (518) 209-1512

It is strongly advised that any communication with the park management be conducted with caution. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For New Yorkers seeking a home in a rural setting, Mountain View Mobile Home Park in Stephentown offers a location that provides peace and quiet, nestled amidst scenic landscapes. The inherent affordability of manufactured home living can be an attractive option for those looking for a lower-cost pathway to homeownership in the Capital Region. The community's location on NY-22 provides a degree of accessibility to essential services in surrounding towns, balancing rural tranquility with practical needs. However, it is paramount for prospective residents to be fully aware of the significant and serious concerns raised by multiple current and past residents regarding the park's management. Allegations of abusive behavior, threats of eviction, disputes over rent despite proof of payment, put-downs related to disabilities, and a refusal to provide company information paint a troubling picture. While the physical location may offer a serene environment, the reported management issues severely undermine its suitability as a comfortable or secure place to live for many. For local New Yorkers considering Mountain View, a thorough investigation into the current management, potentially seeking legal advice regarding tenant rights, and speaking with a wide range of current residents is absolutely crucial before making any commitment. Without a fundamental change in management practices, the numerous reported negative experiences suggest that the park, despite its scenic backdrop and potential affordability, presents substantial risks that could make it an unsuitable living environment for a considerable number of individuals and families.
