Despite some conflicting accounts, the park has garnered praise for its quiet atmosphere and the genuine kindness of its inhabitants. We will delve into its specific address and accessibility, discuss the fundamental services typically offered at RV parks of this nature, and explore the features and highlights that have made it a "home away from home" for some.
Mount Herman RV Park is located at 7960 TX-7, Center, TX 75935, USA. This address places it just outside the city of Center, a community in East Texas. Center is the county seat of Shelby County, known for its timber industry, agricultural presence, and a relaxed, small-town atmosphere characteristic of the East Texas region. For locals within Texas, this location offers a blend of rural tranquility with reasonable access to essential services in Center.
The park's direct frontage on TX-7 (State Highway 7) provides straightforward access for RVs, though one review mentions a "washed out driveway," suggesting potential variability in road conditions. TX-7 is a state highway that connects various towns in East Texas, making it a viable route for those traveling through the region or needing a base for longer stays. Despite being on a highway, a positive review specifically notes that "at night you think you'd hear a lot of traffic from the highway but it was actually harmless to my ears not a lot of traffic," suggesting that highway noise is not a significant issue for some residents.
While Mount Herman RV Park offers a more secluded, "camping" like feel, the city of Center is a short drive away, providing access to groceries, fuel, local dining options, and other necessities. This balance allows residents to enjoy the quietude of the park while still being able to conveniently access urban amenities when needed. The surrounding East Texas landscape also offers opportunities for outdoor recreation, such as fishing and boating on nearby Toledo Bend Reservoir, providing additional appeal for those who enjoy nature.
Given the nature of RV parks and the feedback from residents, Mount Herman RV Park likely offers fundamental services essential for RV living. While explicit details on every service are not provided in the reviews, we can infer common offerings for an RV park that accommodates both short and long-term stays:
- P RV Camping Spaces: The primary service is providing designated spaces for RVs. One review mentions "one post with a number '6' on it," implying numbered camping spaces.
- P Full Hookups (Likely): For an RV park to accommodate travel trailers and provide a "feeling of camping" while offering home-like comfort, full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer) are typically offered at each site. This is a standard expectation for most RV parks, especially for those supporting longer-term stays.
- P Power Availability: The mention of RVs staying suggests electrical hookups are available, allowing residents to power their rigs.
- P Water Connection: Access to potable water at each site is a standard amenity for RV parks.
- P Waste Disposal: While not explicitly stated, a well-functioning RV park would offer sewage hookups at individual sites or a communal dump station for waste disposal.
- P Quiet Environment: The park is consistently described as "very quiet RV park" compared to others, indicating a focus on providing a peaceful atmosphere.
Mount Herman RV Park, despite some contrasting views, offers certain features and highlights that resonate strongly with its positive reviewers:
- P Exceptionally Quiet Atmosphere: This is perhaps the most emphasized positive feature. Reviewers consistently describe the park as "very quiet" and peaceful, even noting that highway traffic noise is "harmless" at night. This makes it an ideal spot for those seeking genuine tranquility and relaxation.
- P Strong Sense of Community and Hospitality: A major highlight is the profound sense of "sharing and caring" among residents. Guests felt "like I was at home whole time I stayed," indicating a welcoming and supportive community. The people were described as "just amazing."
- P Nostalgic Camping Feel: For some, the park evokes a "feeling of camping when I was younger even though I was staying in my travel trailer." This suggests a rustic or natural charm that appeals to those who enjoy a more traditional camping experience blended with RV comforts.
- P Good for Relaxation After Work: The quiet environment makes it "a great quiet place to relax after a long day," appealing to individuals who work in the area and need a peaceful retreat.
- P Minimal Traffic Noise: Despite its location on a highway, the actual traffic noise experienced by residents is reported to be low, contributing significantly to the peaceful atmosphere.
- P Affordability (Implied): While not explicitly stated, the lack of extensive luxury amenities and the focus on a "camping" feel can often imply a more reasonably priced stay compared to resort-style RV parks, which can be a highlight for budget-conscious RVers.
It is important for prospective visitors to be aware of contrasting experiences, as one review describes the park as having "derelict and rotting RV’s" and "junk cars," suggesting a potentially unkempt appearance to some. This stark difference in perception underscores the importance of personal visitation or further inquiry to align expectations.

Mount Herman RV Park Reviews
THERE IS NO RV PARK. I pulled into the washed out driveway and encountered about 6 derelict and rotting RV’s. There were junk cars pretty much everyplace, and one post with a number “6” on it, which I must assume was a “camping” space. The 5 star reviews for this business were obviously written by fans of the movie Deliverance.
