McCammon RV Park Introduce
For travelers navigating the important Interstate 15 and U.S. Route 30 corridors in Southeast Idaho, McCammon RV Park stands out as a practical, easy-access destination. Situated in the small, friendly town of McCammon, this park is designed primarily as a convenient stopover point, offering essential amenities for both RV enthusiasts and tent campers. Its key selling point is the ease of getting in and out, making it a favorite for those traveling long distances or looking for an affordable base camp with full services.
The park provides a straightforward, no-frills experience, focusing on necessary hookups and accessibility. It operates in conjunction with the local Chevron station, a unique arrangement that facilitates check-in and provides immediate access to fuel and some convenience items. Guests frequently comment on the terrific service provided by the attendants, who are often willing to go the extra mile to ensure a smooth arrival. The environment is relatively quiet, despite its proximity to the highway, offering a peaceful night’s rest that is broken only by the occasional, and often charming, train whistle—a classic sound of the Idaho countryside.
While the park offers a simple, utilitarian experience, its value lies in providing full hookups for big rigs at competitive rates compared to more expensive resort-style campgrounds further into the tourist areas like Lava Hot Springs. For those who prioritize efficiency and a quiet place to recharge before the next leg of their journey, McCammon RV Park serves its purpose reliably and effectively.
The location of McCammon RV Park is incredibly strategic for travelers. It is perfectly positioned near the intersection of two major Idaho routes: Interstate 15 and U.S. Route 30.
- Address: 898 US-30, McCammon, ID 83250, USA.
- Directions: The park is easily accessible from I-15 (Exit 47), and the entrance is located in connection with the local Chevron gas station. A key tip from previous guests is to simply look for the Chevron—the park is right behind it, and the office for check-in is typically located inside the station. This eliminates the need to search for a separate park office.
- Accessibility: The park makes an effort to accommodate all travelers, offering a wheelchair accessible entrance and wheelchair accessible parking lot.
- Convenience: The location is quiet but provides quick access to highway travel. Furthermore, the park is only about a 10-mile drive from the popular destination of Lava Hot Springs, making it a great, more affordable alternative base for exploring the famous hot pools and river activities.
Travelers appreciate the swift transition from the main highway to a restful spot. The park offers on-site parking at the individual sites, including numerous pull-thru options designed to minimize the hassle of parking larger rigs. While the road into the park from the highway has been noted as needing maintenance at times, the overall ease of highway access makes it a top choice for a quick overnight stay.
McCammon RV Park is equipped with the core services necessary for a comfortable and self-sufficient stay, catering primarily to the needs of RVers needing a fully serviced stop.
- Full Hookups: The park provides full RV hookups, including water, sewer, and electric hookups. Sites are equipped with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service to accommodate all sizes of recreational vehicles.
- Big Rig Friendly: The majority of the sites are pull-thrus, making it easy for large RVs and motorhomes to navigate and set up without complex maneuvering. The maximum RV length is generous, accepting big rigs easily.
- Public Restrooms and Showers: Basic restroom and shower facilities are provided, though guests may need a refundable deposit ($10 is a common reported figure) for a key to access the facilities. This key system is a common measure to maintain cleanliness and deter unauthorized use.
- Laundry Facilities: A laundry room is generally available on-site, though operational status can vary seasonally or based on maintenance schedules.
- Tent Sites: For those traveling without an RV, the park offers dedicated tent sites, allowing traditional campers to enjoy the location as well.
- Pet Policy: Dogs are allowed at the park, making it a welcoming option for travelers with furry companions, though pet owners should be aware of potential rough ground conditions (spiky stickers) in some grassy areas.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi service is generally available, often noted by guests as being perfectly adequate for basic use and connectivity.
- Propane: The Chevron station acts as the office and often provides additional services such as propane bottle exchange, adding to the convenience.
McCammon RV Park offers several standout features that enhance its appeal as a stopover or quick-stay destination in Southeast Idaho.
- Unbeatable Highway Proximity: The park’s location immediately off I-15 and US-30 makes it one of the most accessible RV stops in the region, minimizing driving time and maximizing rest time.
- Value Pricing: Rates at McCammon RV Park are often significantly lower than comparable full hookup parks closer to major tourist destinations like Lava Hot Springs, providing excellent value for budget-conscious travelers.
- Friendly and Helpful Attendant Service: Staff members, often operating out of the Chevron station, are known for their helpfulness and willingness to assist late arrivals or help with simple tasks like propane exchange, adding a personal touch to the experience.
- Scenic Views: The sites on the eastern side of the park provide pleasant views of the surrounding Idaho landscape and nearby hills, offering a scenic backdrop to your overnight stay.
- Direct Access to Fuel and Food: Being next to a Chevron station means fuel, snacks, and convenience items are just a very short walk away, simplifying logistics. The park is also near a few local fast-food options.
- Plenty of Shade: The park features a number of trees, offering some welcome shade to various sites—a desirable feature during Idaho’s warm summer months.

McCammon RV Park is the smart choice for travelers in Idaho who prioritize convenience, affordability, and full utility access. It is worth choosing for several compelling reasons.
First, it is designed for ease of use. The all-pull-thru sites and direct access from the major highways (I-15 and US-30) eliminate the stress of parking and navigating small town roads, especially after a long day of driving. If you have a large RV or are simply stopping for a single night, the seamless entry and exit process is invaluable.
Second, it offers a necessary amenity set—full hookups (water, sewer, 50-amp electric), showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi—at a lower cost than most surrounding options. This makes it a great financial choice for a quick overnight stop where you don't need resort-level distractions.
Finally, McCammon RV Park serves as an excellent, quiet alternative to the busier campgrounds in nearby tourist hotspots. You can enjoy the peace of a small Idaho town and the scenic views while still being just a short drive from the famous Lava Hot Springs. For a peaceful, self-contained, and economical stay that keeps your journey moving, McCammon RV Park is a highly practical and reliable option.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The park is good with easy access from I-15 or US30. Sites on the east side have nice views. The attendant was terrific; he stayed 30-min late to get us into the park plus he did a propane-bottle exchange for us. The only demerit is I wish he'd have told us to simply come into the Chevron - that's where the office is - and the park is right behind. We were looking all over for a park "across from the Flying J"
June 21 · Steve B JonesPaid $84 for two nights. Laundry room not in working order. Refundable deposit of $10 for restroom key. We chose to use our RV, so unable to review restrooms. Easy access to highway. You chose your own spot. Some of park is mowed, some grass is hip high. Terrible spiky stickers everywhere and kept getting in our dogs feet until they simply refused to go outside. Nice views. Quiet except for occasional train whistle (which we love). Overall, good overnight park.
June 22 · Lisa EllermanThe setting of the park is nice and quiet. A little shady with possibly a homeless tent set up. The bathrooms are disgusting. If you are just looking for a place to pull off and have fulls hook ups it’s a decent value. The campground does not have anyone overseeing it and caring for it the way the others we have stayed at do.
September 07 · Casey MangrumBathrooms require a TON of maintenance which no one wanted to address. Handicap stall was only one that locked BUT it had no shower head, men use women's bathroom 🙀😜😳😲 no lights in bathroom, the water lines that DO work 90% leak, more than half the electrical boxes don't work, other than no bathrooms, no electricity and no water it's a great place to stay 🙀😜😳😲🤣🤣 for a working space rent! If I wanted off grid I would not have paid this price 😲😜🤣
December 04 · Ana HawkThis park is hidden away in a grove of trees with a view of the mountains and some horses in a field. We were pleasantly surprised to find all the trees as we thought we would be in the desert and have no shade. It does provide restrooms and laundry facilities but we haven't used them. We would highly recommend this park to others.
