As with any accommodation, individual preferences and expectations play a significant role in overall satisfaction. This overview will delve into various aspects of the park, including its location, reported amenities, and specific highlights or considerations based on community feedback.
It's crucial for prospective residents and visitors to be aware of the nuances that define Mayfield RV Park. Feedback from former occupants suggests a need for clear communication regarding park policies and features, particularly concerning noise levels and suitability for families with children. By presenting a balanced perspective, we hope to assist Louisiana locals in determining if Mayfield RV Park aligns with their specific needs for an RV stay.
Mayfield RV Park is situated at 23025 LA-1, Plaquemine, LA 70764, USA. This location places it along a state highway, which can offer convenience for travelers but also implies proximity to potential traffic. Plaquemine is a city in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, known for its historic downtown and its location near the Mississippi River.
The accessibility of Mayfield RV Park is generally straightforward due to its address directly on LA-1. This makes it relatively easy to navigate to and from the park using an RV. Plaquemine is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area, meaning that while the immediate surroundings might offer a quieter atmosphere, larger urban amenities, including shopping, dining, and medical facilities, are within a reasonable driving distance. Travelers heading to or from Baton Rouge might find the location convenient for an overnight or extended stay.
However, it is important for potential guests to note a significant aspect of the park's location: its proximity to train tracks. According to customer reviews, trains pass near the park, and their passage can cause RVs to shake and may lead to noise disturbances, including during the night. This is a crucial detail for anyone sensitive to noise or seeking an undisturbed night's sleep. While the location provides access to the Plaquemine area, the impact of nearby train activity is a factor to consider for your comfort and stay.
Services Offered:
- RV sites for parking recreational vehicles.
- Basic accommodation for travelers, as implied by its function as an RV park.
Please note: Specific details on utility hookups (water, sewer, electric) are not explicitly available in the provided customer reviews. Prospective guests are advised to confirm these details directly with the park management via the contact information provided.
Features / Highlights:
- Safety: One reviewer noted it as a "very safe place to stay," which can be an important consideration for travelers.
It is important to acknowledge that customer feedback also points to several areas for consideration:
- "Rundown" Appearance: A customer review described the park as "sort of rundown," suggesting that the aesthetic and maintenance of the grounds might not meet everyone's expectations.
- Train Noise and Vibration: The park is located near train tracks. Reviewers have highlighted that passing trains can cause RVs to shake and lead to significant noise disturbances, particularly at night, which may disrupt sleep.
- Management and Staff Interactions: Feedback indicates negative experiences with the landlord and employees, describing them as "rude" and lacking care for the property or residents' concerns, including people walking through the campground and around personal belongings.
- Children Policy: A significant point of concern raised by a past resident is a stated policy that children are not allowed, despite families potentially seeing it as unsuitable regardless due to other issues. This policy should be verified directly with the park if you are traveling with minors.
- Overall Negative Experience for Some: Strong negative sentiment, including a desire to give a "negative 20" rating, suggests that some visitors have had extremely unsatisfactory experiences at Mayfield RV Park.

For locals in the Louisiana region considering Mayfield RV Park, it's essential to weigh the information presented carefully to determine if it aligns with your expectations for an RV park stay. While some may appreciate the reported safety aspect, the recurring themes in customer feedback regarding the "rundown" appearance, significant train noise and vibrations, and concerns about management's demeanor and policies, particularly regarding children, are critical considerations.
If you prioritize a very quiet environment, seek high levels of park maintenance, expect attentive and courteous management, or plan to travel with children, it would be prudent to thoroughly investigate these aspects or explore alternative RV accommodations in the Plaquemine area or wider Louisiana region. The suitability of Mayfield RV Park for locals will depend heavily on individual tolerance for noise, expectations regarding facility upkeep, and specific family needs.
For those who are less sensitive to noise, value a straightforward and possibly budget-friendly overnight stop, and are prepared for a less hands-on management approach, Mayfield RV Park might serve its purpose. However, the strong negative sentiments expressed in reviews, particularly regarding the environment for families and the responsiveness of staff, suggest that this park may not be the ideal choice for a relaxing or extended stay for many Louisiana residents seeking a typical RV park experience. Always confirm current policies and conditions directly with the park before making a reservation.

Jan 10, 2019 · Polly LewisPrices are high. And service was hard to get. Neat and clean area. Not much parking and trailers are close and plans are to move in more across from the ones now.
Sep 09, 2017 · Kathy CormierHaven't stayed here, but the lots are a little to close together. If you have a travel trailor it would work better.
