Columbia River RV Park Introduce
Welcome to the Columbia River RV Park, a conveniently located and well-equipped destination for travelers and long-term residents exploring the stunning Pacific Northwest from the heart of Oregon. Situated strategically in Portland, this large RV community—offering 198 spots—serves as an ideal home base, whether you are in town for a brief visit to explore the city's unique culture or establishing a longer-term residence in the area. The park is known for its practical amenities, clean facilities, and its excellent proximity to both downtown Portland and the spectacular natural scenery of the Columbia River Gorge.
Unlike many secluded campgrounds, Columbia River RV Park provides the comforts of a fully featured park with the convenience of urban living. While many of the sites are utilized by long-term renters, there is a dedicated effort to accommodate short-term visitors, who appreciate the easy-to-use online reservation system and the friendly staff at check-in. The park successfully balances its use as a residential community with its role as a vital stop for travelers venturing through the Portland metropolitan area. Guests often comment on its well-maintained restrooms and showers, which are a welcome sight after a long day on the road.
For those coming to Oregon for events, such as conferences at the Convention Center, the park offers a desirable alternative to staying in the dense downtown area. It provides a quiet retreat—despite the occasional airplane overhead due to its location—that is a short drive from the city's key attractions. This unique position allows RV enthusiasts to enjoy both the convenience of city access and the tranquility of a dedicated, self-contained community. The park is committed to providing essential amenities that make any length of stay comfortable and hassle-free, reinforcing its status as a top choice for RV camping in the Portland area.
The Columbia River RV Park is strategically located at 10649 NE 13th Ave, Portland, OR 97211, USA. This address places the park in the northeastern section of Portland, giving it immediate advantages in terms of accessibility. It is nestled close to Marine Drive, providing quick access to Interstate 5 (I-5), which is crucial for travelers moving north to Vancouver, Washington, or south into Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
One of the most notable aspects of the location is its proximity to two major transportation hubs and natural features:
- Portland International Airport (PDX): The park is situated near the west end of the airport. This proximity is a double-edged sword, as some guests note the noise from early morning takeoffs, but it is incredibly convenient for anyone traveling by air or needing to pick up/drop off a guest.
- Columbia River Waterfront: The park's namesake feature is a huge draw, with the location offering scenic views and easy access to the river's shoreline. Guests can enjoy a nice beach area for walking or simply watching the large ships pass by.
The surrounding area offers ample opportunities for shopping, dining, and cultural events, making it an excellent hub for exploring both Portland and the nearby attractions like the Japanese Gardens and the Oregon Zoo. Furthermore, the park demonstrates a strong commitment to guest accessibility, ensuring a comfortable experience for all:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- Wheelchair accessible restroom
The Columbia River RV Park is structured to provide a comprehensive set of services and utilities that cater to the needs of modern RV travel, covering everything from essential hookups to daily conveniences. The overall aim is to provide a stress-free and self-sufficient stay for every guest.
Core Services and Utilities provided at the park include:
- Full Hookups at All Sites: Every spacious, paved RV site is equipped with essential connections:
- RV electric hookup (20, 30, and 50 Amp service available)
- RV sewer hookup
- RV water hookup (City water)
- Connectivity: Guests receive complimentary WiFi internet access to stay connected, and cable television, including premium channels like DirecTV, is provided for in-RV entertainment.
- Laundry Facilities: A coin-operated laundry facility is on-site, featuring clean, code-accessed washing machines and dryers for resident use. Some facilities are noted for even having designated pet washers and dryers.
- Restrooms and Showers: Regularly cleaned and well-maintained restrooms and showers are available, ensuring a sanitary experience for all guests.
- Pet Accommodations: The park is pet-friendly, allowing dogs (with some restrictions on size/breed to be confirmed with management), and notably features two dedicated dog parks for your furry companions to enjoy some off-leash exercise.
- Payment Flexibility: The park accepts various payment methods for camping fees and on-site purchases, including Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments.
The experience at Columbia River RV Park is defined by a collection of features and amenities that elevate it beyond a simple parking lot. The focus is on comfort, recreation, and community for both short-term visitors and long-term residents.
Key Features that make this RV park stand out in the Portland area:
- Large-Rig Friendly Sites: The park offers a variety of site types—including back-in and long pull-through sites (some up to 85 feet)—all on paved, flat concrete pads, accommodating even the largest RVs.
- Waterfront Recreation: Direct access to the shores of the Columbia River provides a unique natural amenity, allowing guests to take walks on the sandy beach and watch the river traffic.
- Community Spaces: A recreation room and clubhouse are available for guests and group use (often by reservation), providing a space for games, socializing, and relaxation. Some areas also include covered patios with grills for outdoor dining.
- Seasonal Swimming Pool: During the summer months, guests can enjoy a heated, saline swimming pool, which is typically open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
- Proximity to City Attractions: Its location is arguably its biggest asset for tourists. It offers an easy route to downtown Portland and is close to local attractions, golf courses like Lewis River Golf Course, and the scenic gateway to the Columbia River Gorge.
- Dedicated Pet Areas: The park’s two dedicated dog parks underscore its pet-friendly nature, ensuring dogs have ample space for play and exercise.

For RV travelers and residents in Oregon, choosing the Columbia River RV Park is a decision rooted in convenience, comprehensive features, and location. While some reviews mention the aircraft noise due to the proximity to PDX, the park's benefits far outweigh this minor inconvenience for most guests. Its location offers the perfect balance: it is situated "away from downtown Portland," providing a quieter, less congested experience, yet it remains minutes from all the city action, making it an ideal "home park for visiting the Portland & Vancouver areas of the Pacific Northwest."
What truly makes this park worth choosing is the peace of mind that comes with reliable infrastructure. Having full hookups, complimentary connectivity, and clean, accessible facilities—including bathrooms, showers, and laundry—means your focus can be entirely on enjoying your trip or settling into your long-term spot, rather than worrying about utility basics. The paved, level sites ensure easy setup, a vital consideration for any RV owner.
For dog owners, the two dedicated dog parks are a significant value-add, ensuring pets are happy and well-exercised. For those seeking a pleasant, community-oriented experience, the park delivers a straightforward, well-managed environment. Many visitors have returned multiple times, citing its simple, functional amenities and friendly atmosphere. Ultimately, the Columbia River RV Park offers a practical, comfortable, and strategically located base camp with full amenities, serving as the essential gateway for exploring all the treasures of Portland and the breathtaking natural landscapes of Oregon.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We do a conference at thw Convention Center but stay here away from downtown Portland. It's fairly quiet except for the occasional airplane overhead and maybe someone's dog. Not terribly fancy immedities but are fine during our stay. We've come back now 3 times
September 13 · C LovellThe Columbia River RV park is large with 198 spots, of which most are long term renters. The RV park sits at the West end of Portland International Airport with a lot of early morning takeoffs. The on-line reservation system was easy to use and we booked over a month in advance. The staff was very friendly at check in. The restrooms and showers were clean. The lawns had not been cared for in weeks. The stay was ok, but we would have stayed somewhere else had we known about the airport traffic over head
June 23 · George DupinLarge, clean, safe RV park. Lots of long termers but a quiet and well kept community. Facilities well maintained, level sites. About 20 min from downtown Portland. Nothing much to see in the immediate vicinity. Friendly staff.
July 27 · Emily PiperWork really well for our Portland adventure. We had plenty of space in the pull through. The sewer line is at the end of the space instead of center. Grass in between spaces. No picnic tables. Laundry and showers available. Dog park was hard to find and didn't like that the one for our half was outside of rvpark across the street. Otherwise quiet and next to airport and river.
May 13 · Lauren MurphyWe stay here every year for just a few days during the IndyCar Race. Its about 5 Min to the racetrack easy drive from this park.RV park has two dog runs we use that are well kept and nice enough. People that work here are nice and helpful.RV spots are fine nothing real fancy just a good spot.Cons - most of the park is filled with people that live there but that's typical of most of these places. It would be nice if the kept one large section for people that are coming and going
