Camp VIP RV Park Introduce
For RV enthusiasts, traveling professionals, and long-term residents seeking a secure and well-serviced base in the heart of the Wasatch Front, Camp VIP RV Park in Salt Lake City stands out as a premier choice. This established destination, which has been serving visitors since 1974, is not just a place to park your rig; it is an organized, family-owned camping resort that has cultivated a strong reputation for offering a “VIP” experience to its guests. It is known for its spacious sites, comprehensive amenities, and a palpable sense of community that makes it feel like a genuine retreat—even though it's situated in the middle of Utah's capital city.
Camp VIP is particularly well-suited for those planning extended stays, including traveling workers, out-of-town patients receiving medical care at nearby centers, or individuals and families looking for a stable, comfortable, and cost-effective home base for a month or longer. The park focuses on creating a clean, safe, and relaxing environment, making it a peaceful oasis near the hustle and bustle of downtown. With a variety of sites and competitive rates for monthly or even year-long accommodations, it offers a refreshing alternative to traditional, costlier city housing. The dedication of the staff, often highlighted in glowing customer reviews, contributes significantly to the park’s welcoming and secure atmosphere.
The location of Camp VIP RV Park is arguably one of its most valuable assets for local Utah users and travelers alike. Situated at 1400 W North Temple St, Salt Lake City, UT 84116, USA, the park is strategically positioned for maximum convenience. This address places the RV park just minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, making it the closest RV campground to the heart of the capital.
Its proximity to major transit options and city landmarks simplifies exploring the vibrant Salt Lake Valley:
- Downtown Access: The park is only 14 blocks, or approximately 5 minutes, from downtown Salt Lake City. This allows for incredibly easy access to attractions like Temple Square, the Family History Library, City Creek Mall, and the city’s dining, bar, and club scene.
- Public Transit: A huge advantage for visitors is the express Light Rail (TRAX) train stop located right near the park. This makes navigating the entire valley simple without the need to drive and find city parking, connecting you quickly to the University of Utah, the airport, and other key areas.
- Freeway & Airport Access: Camp VIP provides convenient proximity to major freeways, including I-15 and I-80, and is very close to the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). Directions are clear, often advising entry from the west to avoid heavy town traffic.
- Area Attractions: The location serves as a perfect basecamp for visiting Utah’s year-round activities, from hiking the nearby trails (with a direct connection to the Jordan River Parkway Trail mentioned by residents) to accessing world-class ski resorts like those in Park City, often less than an hour's drive away.
Camp VIP RV Park is structured to provide comprehensive services that cater specifically to the needs of RVers and long-term residents, distinguishing it from basic campgrounds. The park operates as a full-service RV resort with robust onsite services to make any stay feel comfortable and seamless.
Key services available to guests include:
- Full Utility Hookups: Every RV site is equipped with full hookups, which typically include water, sewer, and electricity (30 and 50 AMP service), ensuring a convenient and self-sufficient stay.
- Long-Term Stay Options: The park is well-known for offering competitive rates for both monthly and year-long stays, a vital service for working professionals, snowbirds, and residents seeking stable housing.
- Onsite Store and Essentials: The facility includes a convenient Camp Store where residents can purchase essential supplies, snacks, amenities, and gifts, including propane and firewood. The on-site store minimizes the need for frequent trips outside the park for basic needs.
- Notary Public Services: An uncommon and highly valuable service is the availability of a Notary Public on-site, offering convenience for residents needing documents legally notarized without leaving the community.
- Utility and Maintenance Support: Services include individual mailboxes for long-term residents, garbage pickup, and the availability of RV maintenance staff to assist with site-related issues.
- Security and Assistance: The park maintains a strong focus on guest safety, including an after-hours night watchperson who patrols the area and is available to assist guests with any late-night concerns or issues.
The community environment and high-quality recreational features are major highlights that contribute to the park’s 'VIP' reputation. The park is a large, 43-acre property with mature, shady trees and beautiful landscaping, creating a pleasant, country-park feel.
The following amenities and features enhance the resident experience:
- Spacious and Level RV Sites: Sites are described as spacious, level, and well-maintained, often with concrete parking pads and sufficient privacy between neighbors, accommodating rigs up to 50 feet.
- Recreational Facilities: Guests can enjoy a wide array of activities right on the property, including two swimming pools, a hot tub, two playgrounds, three basketball courts, and two pickleball courts (amenities may be seasonal).
- Clean Comfort Facilities: The park provides clean, well-maintained facilities, including a bathhouse/showers and two dedicated laundry mats for resident use.
- Pet-Friendly Focus: The park welcomes dogs and provides a dedicated, well-maintained dog park for pets to run and play, with clear guidelines on responsible pet ownership.
- Community Spaces: There is a pavilion available for group parties and get-togethers, often hosting private fun onsite summer activities and events that help foster the highly praised sense of community.
- Additional Site Features: Many sites include storage sheds for personal belongings and picnic tables for outdoor dining and relaxation.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been staying at Camp VIP for years, and it has been a fantastic place for a long-term stay. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by how well-organized and friendly the staff is. They made check-in seamless and gave me a detailed overview of the park’s amenities and rules. The RV sites are spacious, level, and well-maintained. Each site offers full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewage, which has made living here very convenient. I especially love the privacy between the sites—it feels like I have my own little space, but still within a friendly community of fellow RVers. The park itself is beautifully landscaped, with a variety of trees and greenery, making it feel like a peaceful retreat. The roads are well-paved, making it easy to navigate the park, even with a larger rig.Camp VIP has fantastic amenities, including a clean, well-maintained bathhouse and laundry facility. One of the highlights for me has been the sense of community here. There are plenty of long-term residents, and it’s easy to get to know people. Everyone is friendly, respectful, and makes an effort to create a positive, welcoming environment. I also really appreciate the park's pet-friendly policy—there’s a well-maintained dog park where my dog can run around, and the trails nearby are perfect for our daily walks. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Camp VIP is conveniently located near lots of local attractions, but it still feels like a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle. I also appreciate that the park has a small store where I can pick up essentials like snacks, propane, and firewood.I highly recommend Camp VIP to anyone looking for a great place to stay for a month or longer. The staff is friendly, the facilities are excellent, and the atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. It truly feels like a VIP experience!

March 12 · Kelli BennettVery nice campground, lots of trees, pull thrus and back in spots for small and large rv's. Laundry, playground, hot tub, pool, and a few cabins for rent as well. Folks in the office are very nice and helpful. Its also right next to the fairgrounds and the airport parking is not to far either.
