Yellowstone Hotsprings Campground Introduce
For Montanans, getting out and exploring the state’s rugged, beautiful landscape is a way of life. When it comes to finding a base camp for your Yellowstone National Park adventures, few places offer the unique combination of accessibility and amenities quite like Yellowstone Hotsprings Campground. Located just a short drive from the North Entrance of the park in Gardiner, this spot serves as both a traditional campground and an RV park, making it a flexible option for a wide range of travelers. It’s a perfect launching point for exploring the iconic sights of Yellowstone, from the geysers and hot springs to the vast wildlife and hiking trails.
This campground is especially appealing to those who want the convenience of being close to the action without the crowds of being inside the park. The biggest draw for many is its direct access to the on-site Yellowstone Hot Springs. After a long day of hiking, wildlife spotting, or exploring the park’s many wonders, there’s nothing quite like a relaxing soak in natural mineral pools. This amenity alone elevates the camping experience, offering a way to unwind and rejuvenate that you won't find at most other campgrounds. The views from the campground and hot springs are breathtaking, with surrounding mountains providing a stunning backdrop to your Montana getaway. Visitors have shared stories of seeing elk right from their campsite, adding to the feeling of being in the heart of nature.
Yellowstone Hotsprings Campground caters to both RV and tent campers. For RV owners, the availability of electric hookups is a significant convenience, allowing for a more comfortable stay. The campground offers on-site parking for all guests, which is a major plus in a busy tourist area like Gardiner. While the tent sites can be a bit more rustic and some lack shade, they still provide a place to crash for the night. It's an affordable option for those seeking a quick, convenient place to stay while passing through the area.
However, it's important to set your expectations for the level of amentities. While the location and the hot springs are a major highlight, some campers have noted that the on-site facilities like the cafe, showers, and restrooms might have limited availability or a more rustic feel. This is a camping experience, and not a luxury resort, so being prepared for a few minor inconveniences is key to enjoying your stay. For those who prioritize a beautiful setting and proximity to a major attraction, the trade-offs are well worth it.
The campground is also designed to be a good fit for families with children. The opportunity for kids to see wildlife up close and have a safe, open space to play makes it an appealing choice for a family vacation. The ease of access to the hot springs and to Yellowstone National Park itself means there’s always something to do, keeping everyone in the family entertained. It's a place where you can make new friends, share stories around a campfire, and truly immerse yourself in the Montana way of life.
Overall, Yellowstone Hotsprings Campground offers a solid, no-frills camping and RV experience with one major, unique benefit: the hot springs. If you are a Montana local looking for a weekend escape or a traveler exploring the northern parts of Yellowstone, this campground provides an accessible and unforgettable experience that balances outdoor adventure with a touch of relaxation.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is for the campsites. Wifi hut has no wifi. Cafe is open maybe sometimes if your lucky. Individual showers are not. There is a nice line of Porta poties that smell great if the wind is coming from the south. Monday the pools are closed and they spend all day mowing. So if you like listening to mowers all day Monday is for you! Tent spots are small and only about half have shade. If your just looking for a place to crash for 1 night, it's OK. It your planning on being there a couple days, be prepared.
July 08 · bdkw1I’d give this a 5 if you plan on going to the hot springs. It’s right on site. Great views in between the mountains. If you aren’t using my hot springs, it’s not the best location maybe for you. Also saw an elk first thing in the morning.
July 16 · john spetaThe hotsprings are top-notch. One of our favorite hotsprings and a huge bonus is that it's right outside of our favorite National Park. Our view next to the river was spectacular. There were elk in the parking lot when we got there, and when we were soaking, we saw 4 elk on the top of the mountain grazing. Once in a lifetime memories!

June 03 · Jennifer L.Expensive for electrical hook ups only. Showers and laundry are on the other side of the park. This side of the park has 3 port-a-lets and no bathroom. I drove to the showers today and there was no hot water. I will not stay here again.
