Waters Edge Family Campground Reviews
One staff lady is rude at front deskAll you hear Monday thru Friday is chain saws and leaf blowers. It is annoying at best. Pumping station has constant issues. Roads are horrible and dangerous for kids. No real activities unless you are a senior. Skunks and deer are all over. Twin brothers (owners) are great! They just have no clue how their business is being hurt by someone who has no skill regarding how to treat people. Most of maintenance staff is nasty to patrons and they don't care. If you like golf cart parades and corn hole you will love it. Seasonal people think they own it and have no problem yelling at campers. Prices are too high for a fun stay. Watch out for trees and limbs falling on your camper and cars. And water from broken pipes flooding your site. Not a good pick.
Jun 04, 2025 · F MacBeen camping here for several years. Great place, friendly people. Very sorry to hear that some weekender campers ruined it for some people leaving the 1 star review. But, I can assure you that is the exception, and not the rule. This place is usually quiet, and they do have people going around making sure the quiet time is enforced. I don't know why that wasn't the case during their visit. I have seen loud people forced to leave before. It's a very family oriented campground, with lots of well thought out activities.Update 2025: The weekend activities have definitely fallen off the last few years after a particular camper that used to host everything left, and the replacements have not maintained that level of fun or cohesiveness. This will be our last year as seasonals there. It's still a nice campground, but the activities have gotten stale, and the few new activities are not professionally done. While we may be done camping completely, the campground was an influence in that decision, but not the entire reason. Its still a nice place overall.
May 28, 2025 · Matt CarrollWater’s Edge is a bit of a mixed bag. First I have to say that the sites are a tad on the small side, but the setup is very very good. Power and water are in a great place, a the sites are super level. I really didn’t have an issue with site size because I have a smaller camper. The nightly spots are close to the store and pool.It does seem like a campground that is leaning hard into seasonals (there are very few sites with just simple electric/water hookups). Apparently, they don’t even allow tent campers anymore. One issue is that the rental cabins are close to the normal rental spots and I feel like the people who rent cabins are a bit more disruptive. One of the cabins was blasting music the entire weekend (so not only did we not get a choice in the music selection, we had to listen to ads too).It would be nice if campgrounds would adjust their policies on electric car charging. Charging a car at 8A over a weekend is far less than a normal camper with an A/C.

Jan 21, 2025 · christy delveyJuly 2024 Visit-We have been coming here for more than 10 years. This is one of our favorite campgrounds. The lake is beautiful. There is a nice pool and a sandy beach area on the lake. They have a small dog park, rec hall, horseshoes, playground and kids mining setup. The majority of sites are seasonal. One thing that makes this campground standout is how friendly the seasonal campers are towards weekend campers. We have definitely been to campgrounds where you are unwelcome by seasonal's. The very first time we stayed at Water's Edge we were invited to a nearby party on one of the seasonal sites. The office staff is friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how long they have had it but with the Campspot reservations you can pre check in so when you get to the office it's faster. $10 deposit for a gate card which you get back at departure.A few notes: 1.They no longer accept campers in tents. Not sure why but there is a sign up. 2. If you have a large RV there are some tight spots due to large trees. 3. There are no sewer hook ups but they of course have a dump station which is fine but be aware you have to climb a steep hill, make a tight turn and descend the hill on the other side to get to it. We had no trouble in our 30 foot TT but suggest you might want to check out the route before departure day.One really great thing about the dump station here is that it is at a full bath house so you can go in and wash up right after.A big plus here is the proximity to the Airline Trail. An old rail bed made for recreation. It crosses the road not far from the campground. I have ridden my bike from the campground and taken the trail all the way into Willimantic. Great for bikes and walkers. There are a few picnic tables and benches along the way. Here are some pictures. We love the sites at the far end of the lake - L15, 16, 16A. We stayed on H12 just across the driveway. Large site with lake views. Very peaceful.
