We recently stayed at Turtle Lodge I can’t give it a negative rating. The web site misrepresenting. The area is filled with old RVs in disrepair. The RV next to us had no sewer hose and was draining on the ground. We called and was told ‘that’s not good’ but nothing happened. There’s a HUDGE dog that just runs loose, he appears harmless but who knows. Some guy could be heard multiple times a day yelling, for another loose dog.My husband went in the laundry room/bathroom, it was disgusting. The trash dumpster was running over.We booked our stay for a week but left early I would NOT recommend staying here! - Marian Bosarge

Turtle Lodge Campground & RV Introduce

For those in Mississippi exploring options for RV and primitive camping, especially in the northern part of the state, Turtle Lodge Campground & RV in New Albany offers a unique opportunity to experience country living with convenient access to city amenities. Located on the former site of "The Lakes" golf course, this campground is in a transitional phase, aiming to create a comprehensive resort that includes RV sites, primitive camping, and future attractions.

It is important to provide a balanced overview, incorporating all available public information and customer experiences. While Turtle Lodge Campground & RV aims to offer a serene "lake life" experience, some past guest reviews indicate areas where the park is still developing. One reviewer noted, "The web site misrepresenting. The area is filled with old RVs in disrepair. The RV next to us had no sewer hose and was draining on the ground." Another described the property as having "a lot of mud and disorder, with lack of adequate signage... Didn’t feel particularly safe and not somewhere you’d want to walk around." They suggested sticking with state parks or KOAs if "just passing through town." Conversely, the official website promotes "country life with city accessibility" and "shaded and easily accessible" RV amenities, mentioning "The lakeside beach area is perfect for your picnic or fishing spot. Pets are always welcome and enjoy a swim in the lake or running in an open field." This highlights the gap between current experience and future potential.

This article will delve into what Turtle Lodge Campground & RV currently offers for locals in the Mississippi region, its location and accessibility, and the services and features it provides. Our aim is to give a clear and factual description, based on the provided information, to help prospective campers understand what to expect from this developing establishment in New Albany, MS.

Turtle Lodge Campground & RV is located at 1048 Co Rd 65, New Albany, MS 38652, USA. This address places it within a rural setting in Union County, Mississippi, yet remarkably close to the conveniences of New Albany. The campground is situated on a property that was formerly a golf course, encompassing "one hundred and thirty-three acres of rolling hills, trails, and five lakes and ponds," as described on their website. This expansive natural setting is a key aspect of its appeal.

The accessibility of Turtle Lodge is highlighted by its proximity to major transportation routes. It is located only two miles from I-22, Exit 60, and one mile from Highway 30 West. This makes it a convenient stop for travelers heading east or west on Interstate 22, connecting to larger cities like Tupelo and Memphis. For local Mississippians, this easy access means a relatively short drive to a natural escape without being too far from essential services. Despite being set within a natural, spacious environment, the campground's website emphasizes its accessibility to city amenities, stating it's "only 5 minutes from shopping, restaurants, Tanglefoot Trail, and BNA Sportsplex." This balance of secluded natural space with convenient urban access is a significant draw for many campers.

The surrounding area of New Albany offers various attractions and conveniences. The Tanglefoot Trail, a popular rail-to-trail conversion for walking and biking, is a significant recreational asset nearby. The BNA Sportsplex provides facilities for sports and activities. For daily needs, New Albany has a Walmart and a variety of restaurants and stores. The property's history as a golf course also means it features established, though perhaps unmaintained, trails and natural water features (lakes and ponds) which can be explored by guests. This combination of location and accessibility offers both convenience and opportunities for outdoor enjoyment in the North Mississippi landscape.
