This privately owned campground prides itself on offering a blend of essential amenities and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Its charm lies in its direct connection to the expansive beaches of Copalis, allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in the natural splendor that defines this stretch of the Washington coastline. From its convenient location to its varied accommodation options, Tidelands Campgrounds is poised to be your next favorite coastal getaway.
Tidelands Campgrounds is conveniently located at 2991 WA-109, Copalis Beach, WA 98535, USA. This address places it directly on Washington's stunning Pacific Coast, nestled within the charming community of Copalis Beach in Grays Harbor County. The campground's position on State Route 109 makes it easily accessible for travelers coming from various parts of Washington. For those driving from major population centers like Seattle or Olympia, the journey typically involves scenic drives westward, eventually leading to the coastal highway. While the coastal roads offer breathtaking vistas, they are generally well-maintained and suitable for all vehicle types, including RVs.
One of the most significant advantages of Tidelands Campgrounds' location is its direct beach access. This is a rare and highly sought-after feature along the Washington Coast, as many other areas might require a drive or a longer walk to reach the shoreline. The campground's design provides immediate pathways to the expansive sandy beaches, allowing campers to easily enjoy activities like beachcombing, flying kites, or simply strolling along the water's edge. This direct accessibility significantly enhances the overall coastal camping experience, putting the Pacific Ocean literally at your doorstep. Its proximity to other popular coastal towns like Ocean Shores also means that additional amenities, dining options, and attractions are just a short drive away, balancing serene seclusion with convenient access to local offerings.
Tidelands Campgrounds offers a variety of services and amenities designed to cater to different camping preferences, from traditional tent sites to fully equipped RV spots and comfortable cabin rentals. The goal is to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Based on available public information, here’s a breakdown of the services typically offered:
- RV Sites: Tidelands provides a range of RV sites, including full hookups with water, electric, sewer, and cable TV, as well as partial hookups with water and electric only. These sites are generally spacious.
- Tent Sites: Dedicated tent camping areas are available, often noted for their secluded feel. Each tent site typically includes a picnic table and a fire ring.
- Cabin Rentals: For those seeking more comfort, Tidelands offers fully furnished cabin rentals. These cabins come with kitchens (equipped with pots, pans, dinnerware, etc., but not food), showers, electric fireplaces, and big-screen TVs. There are both two-bedroom and three-bedroom mobile home options.
- Picnic Tables & Fire Rings: Every campsite, whether RV or tent, is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, encouraging outdoor cooking and evening campfires (always check for current fire restrictions). Firewood is often available for purchase on-site.
- Bathhouse: A bathhouse with coin-operated showers is available for campers. Visitors are encouraged to rinse off sand before using the showers to maintain cleanliness.
- Water Access: Potable water is available. While water from an artisan well on the property is used, some visitors may find it has a mineral or sulfurous taste and might prefer to bring bottled water.
- Trash Disposal: Designated trash receptacles are provided for convenient waste disposal, helping to keep the campground clean.
- On-site Office & Camp Host: There is an office for inquiries and check-ins, and friendly camp hosts are often available to assist campers, provide local information, and ensure a pleasant stay.
The unique features and highlights of Tidelands Campgrounds contribute significantly to its appeal, particularly for Washington locals looking for an authentic and memorable coastal adventure:
- Direct Beach Access: The standout feature is undoubtedly the direct, easy access to the vast and beautiful beaches of Copalis. This allows for immediate enjoyment of beach activities without the need to drive elsewhere.
- Razor Clam Digging Proximity: Copalis Beach is renowned as a premier razor clamming destination. Tidelands Campgrounds’ location makes it an ideal base for participating in this popular Washington pastime during open seasons.
- Flexible Booking (Call for Reservations): Unlike many campgrounds that are booked solid months in advance online, Tidelands often encourages calling for reservations. This can sometimes mean better availability, especially during peak seasons, offering a great option for locals who prefer direct communication or a more last-minute planning approach.
- Family-Oriented Atmosphere: Reviews often highlight the friendly and accommodating nature of the hosts, contributing to a relaxed and welcoming vibe suitable for families. Fun, unique touches like "Sasquatch" visits during events add to the family-friendly charm.
- Variety of Accommodations: The option to choose between tent sites, RV sites with full hookups, or fully furnished cabins means Tidelands can cater to a wide range of camping styles and comfort levels.
- Proximity to Local Attractions: The campground is conveniently located near local markets, friendly bars and grills, and is a short drive from Ocean Shores, offering opportunities for horseback riding on the beach, moped rentals, shopping, and dining. The Quinault Beach Resort and Casino is also nearby, with a shuttle service available.
- Artisan Well Water: The water from an artisan well, though potentially sulfurous to some tastes, is a unique natural feature that adds to the rustic charm of the experience.
- Dog-Friendly: The campground generally allows leashed dogs, though cabin rentals may have specific pet fees and limits. This is a significant plus for Washingtonians who want to include their canine companions in their coastal adventures (always confirm specific pet policies, especially regarding service animals and breed restrictions, directly with the campground).
For those planning their visit or needing to make inquiries, Tidelands Campgrounds provides clear contact information. It's always a good practice to call ahead, especially for reservations or to confirm specific details and current conditions.

For the most current information regarding rates, availability, specific site details, and any operational advisories (such as water quality updates or fire restrictions), direct communication with the campground management is the most reliable method. Tidelands Campgrounds Reviews
I would love to tell you this is a safe and understanding space to bring yourself and your families, however I would be doing you and honesty in general grossly wrong. The owner of this site refuses to allow service animals of “certain breeds” who are federally REQUIRED to be given access because their insurance “doesn’t cover them”. The breed is NOT a valid excuse to refuse access, furthermore any and ALL breeds of service animals should be covered under their insurance, as if they are ever attacked on their campground, that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. I have attached proof from the ADA.gov website stating that gross injustice is being handed out left and right by this owner. 🤮
Jun 11, 2025 · Ecko KuhnhausenWhat a beautiful, wild piece of coast! We saw so many brown pelicans! Our hosts, Dave and Sabrina, were kind and did everything to make us comfortable. We loved our campsite because it was sheltered, but we also loved being able to walk straight out onto the beach. Our adult kids kept arriving in shifts, and everyone was really flexible. Kevin even loaned us tarps when it rained, and we weren't equipped. There's a wonderful market and a friendly bar and grill just up the road. What more could you need? I learned that the water on the property comes from an artisan well, which is rich in minerals but a little sulfurous for my taste. I might bring bottled next time though it was fine if you left it out for a bit. We loved the relaxed vibe and the good fun! Sasquatch came to visit on Saturday night and hang with the kiddos! What a hoot! We'll definitely be back. Thanks for everything!
Aug 28, 2024 · Kathryn TruebloodPeaceful location. Friendly staff. Nice access to the beach. This is definitely worth three stars. I paid $50/night (and that is supposedly with the Escapees discount) and got a site with 30 amps. No sewer. No dump station. No wifi and spotty cell service. Generally if I pay that much I get full hookups, 50 amps and wifi.
Oct 22, 2024 · Michael MillerThis place is great. Owners are friendly, nice grounds, good bathrooms, beach access.

Same site, too.The owners have done a wonderful job of upgrading and improving the grounds. The bath/shower house has been upgraded. The grounds are clean, mowed, lots of choices of sites, basketball court, horseshoe pitI can't say enough about why I love camping here. Here's to another 40 years.
