Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground Introduce
For Ohioans seeking a truly immersive natural experience, where the sounds of the forest replace the clamor of everyday life, Tar Hollow State Park’s Logan Hollow Campground offers an ideal escape. Nestled within the expansive and rugged terrain of Tar Hollow State Park and its adjacent State Forest, this campground provides a comfortable yet rustic base for exploring some of Ohio’s most scenic woodlands. It's a cherished spot for those who appreciate spacious campsites, clean facilities, and direct access to an extensive network of hiking trails.
Logan Hollow Campground, distinct from the Ross Hollow Campground within the same park, is particularly noted by visitors for its generous campsite sizes. This means more privacy and space for your RV or tent, a true luxury in many campgrounds. While the park embraces a more natural, "unplugged" vibe – often meaning zero cell service and TV reception – this is precisely what draws many locals. It’s an opportunity to truly disconnect, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the stunning night skies unmarred by light pollution, a highlight for many campers.
Reviews consistently praise the cleanliness of the shower houses, providing a welcome comfort after a day of outdoor adventures. While some of the more primitive restroom options (outhouses) might be a bit "buggy" depending on the season, the availability of cleaner, modern facilities near the main shower house ensures a comfortable experience. Tar Hollow State Park and its campgrounds are maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, ensuring a level of care and preservation that makes it a reliable choice for your next Ohio camping trip.

Tar Hollow State Park Logan Hollow Campground Reviews
A beautiful place! Main areas were kept very well. Camping sites are VERY roomy - only electric hookup though (RV goers here). Bathrooms around the campsites were outhouse style, so they were overran by bugs (possibly the time of year). There is a nicer facility near the shower house. Finding the hiking trails was frustrating as nothing was visibly marked until you were almost on the trail and maps were hard to reference - once on the trail, they were marked beautifully.
Sep 11, 2019 · Cat RoseLove this campground! There are lots of great campsites and the shower houses are really decent. Be prepared for zero cell service and TV reception.
Sep 06, 2019 · Vic NoëlMy family always has a great time camping at Tar Hollow SP Campground. Sad that we won't be able to camp there in 2025. But am looking forward to all the upgrades and updates they are doing.
Sep 26, 2024 · electa naegeleOkay, it's a lovely park. Clean, well kept, nice facilities but DO NOT camp in their primitive sites 87-95 below the dam. They are right next to the package wastewater treatment plan and although it didn't smell, the aeration unit for the plant was a loud humming machinery noise. You will not hear birds, water or wind for 14 hours of the day, just the loud hum of that plant. Day and night.
Jul 14, 2022 · Jerry McVickerMy family and I stayed here for a week for the fall colors and exploring hocking hills.....They had great Halloween activities and after the weekend, the camp ground cleared out and it was peaceful.Decent hiking trails and about 25 min to hocking hills, bring a local map because service is minimal....Overall great experience!
