Shannon Creek Campground provides a range of essential services designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all visitors, emphasizing cleanliness and a pleasant outdoor experience. While it offers a rustic, off-grid feel, key amenities are well-maintained.
- Vault Toilets: The campground features "Vault toilet was nearby" and "super clean" facilities. Visitors consistently praise the cleanliness of these outhouses, which are essential for sanitation in a natural setting. As one reviewer exclaimed, "who knew an outhouse could be so clean!" This attention to cleanliness is a significant comfort for campers.
- On-site Firewood: "Wood is available" for purchase directly at the campground. This convenient service means campers don't need to bring their own firewood or forage, making it easier to enjoy traditional campfires (provided no burn bans are in effect). It's important to note that you "need cash" for firewood purchases.
- Friendly Camp Host: A standout service mentioned by multiple reviewers is the presence of a "very sweet" and "amazing" camp host (like Dee or Cindy). These hosts are "friendly and informative about the area" and play a crucial role in maintaining the campground's "immaculate condition," ensuring a welcoming and well-managed environment.
- Dog-Friendly Environment: The campground is welcoming to pets, with a reviewer noting, "so was her dog!" This indicates a dog-friendly policy, allowing Washington locals to bring their canine companions along for the adventure, provided they adhere to leash rules and waste disposal guidelines.
- Potable Water: While not explicitly detailed in reviews, it's typical for developed campgrounds like Shannon Creek to provide access to potable water through spigots, though always confirm current availability.
- Designated Campsites: The campground offers a number of designated campsites, each typically equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, providing a clear and comfortable space for setting up camp.
- No Hookups or Showers: It's important to note that while clean restrooms are available, there are "No showers" and "No hook ups" for RVs. This maintains the rustic camping experience, suitable for those who are prepared for self-sufficient camping.
Shannon Creek Campground offers several compelling features and highlights that make it a highly desirable destination for Washington locals seeking a serene and engaging outdoor experience. Its unique attributes perfectly blend natural beauty with practical comforts.
- Beautiful Baker Lake Setting: The most prominent highlight is its location directly on the "beautiful" Baker Lake. This provides stunning "beautiful view of Baker Lake" directly from many campsites. The lake itself is a "must for kayakers and boating," offering endless opportunities for water recreation, including fishing and paddling, against a backdrop of majestic mountains.
- Quiet and Peaceful Atmosphere: Despite being "fully reserved" on busy weekends, the campground was noted as "relatively quiet" with "Not a lot of noisy kids or dogs." This suggests a generally peaceful environment, appealing to those seeking relaxation rather than a lively party atmosphere. This quiet nature enhances the connection with the surrounding wilderness.
- Immaculately Maintained Facilities: The "immaculate condition" of the campground, particularly the "super clean outhouse," is a frequently praised feature. This high standard of cleanliness, often attributed to the dedicated camp hosts, significantly enhances the comfort and overall experience for all visitors.
- Friendly and Helpful Camp Hosts: The presence of an "amazing," "friendly and informative" camp host (like Cindy or Dee) is a major highlight. These individuals not only keep the grounds clean but also contribute to a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, providing local knowledge and assistance to campers.
- Dog-Friendly Environment: For many Washingtonians, being able to bring their beloved canine companions is a crucial factor. Shannon Creek Campground is noted as "Dog friendly place," making it a perfect spot for pet owners to enjoy the outdoors with their furry friends.
- Accessibility for Kayaking and Boating: Its lakeside location with potential access points makes it an ideal base for kayakers and boaters looking to explore the expansive Baker Lake. The calm waters in certain conditions offer excellent paddling opportunities.

Mobile Phone: +1 877-444-6777
These phone numbers connect to the National Recreation Reservation Service (Recreation.gov), which manages bookings for many federal campgrounds, including those in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Calling these numbers allows you to check availability, confirm fees, inquire about specific site details, and get the most up-to-date information on any fire restrictions, water availability, or other important advisories from the managing authorities (e.g., US Forest Service). While there's a local camp host on-site, initial planning and reservations are best handled through this centralized system. Ensure you have physical maps or downloaded directions, as cell service might be limited as you approach the campground.

This provides endless opportunities for recreation and breathtaking scenic enjoyment.
Secondly, the consistent praise for its cleanliness and the welcoming presence of dedicated camp hosts (like Cindy or Dee) truly resonates with our local values. Knowing that "outhouse could be so clean" and that there's a friendly face keeping the campground "immaculate" significantly enhances the comfort and peace of mind for campers. This attention to detail allows us to truly relax and enjoy our surroundings, confident in the quality of the facilities.
Furthermore, the "relatively quiet" atmosphere, even when fully booked, makes it perfect for those seeking a true escape from the noise of daily life. It’s a place where you can genuinely unwind without being disturbed, fostering a deeper connection with nature. The availability of firewood on-site (for cash) means we can enjoy classic campfires without extensive preparation, adding to that quintessential camping experience that many of us cherish. Being "Dog friendly" is also a huge bonus, allowing our furry family members to join in the adventure. Shannon Creek Campground offers a quintessential Washington outdoor experience – beautiful, clean, welcoming, and perfectly suited for creating lasting memories by the lake.

Shannon Creek Campground Reviews
Had a great experience. Baker Lake is beautiful - a must for kayakers and boating. Campground was relatively quiet, even though it was fully reserved the weekend we were there. Not a lot of noisy kids or dogs. Vault toilet was nearby. No showers. Wood is available, but you need cash. Host was very sweet (think her name is Dee) and so was her dog! We will definitely be back.
Jun 26, 2023 · Christa LaglerAs an East Coast girl, I decided to head out to Washington State! Cindy, the camp host was amazing! She was friendly and informative about the area. Cindy kept Shannon Creek in immaculate condition... who knew an outhouse could be so clean! The camp site was also clean with a beautiful view of Baker Lake. Kudos to Cindy for making my camping trip a fun and welcoming place to be!
Oct 01, 2019 · christine elmendorfGreat campground especially for folks who fish and enjoy water activities. Boat motors allowed. Kayaking, paddle board, swimming. Beautiful lake and from this campground you can launch your boat and around the point you will be greeted by Beautiful Mt. Baker!
Aug 24, 2023 · Karen CloudLots of bugs, A LOT! This campground is geared mainly for people with boats as it has it's own private boat launch. There are zero close by walking trails unless you drive to the nearest trail head. There is a vault toilet and a very difficult hand water pump. Almost no shade on any of the picnic tables at the site...we walked around to see the other sites as well, as ut was nearly empty when we went. The plus side is the campground was quiet but again, no one was there when we went the second week of July. The views of the lake and mountains from the boat launch were nice though.
Jul 17, 2018 · Dave ZExcellent campsite that feels just the right amount of remote. The lake is absolutely gorgeous!
