Sand Gulch Campground Reviews
We enjoyed this campground very much! We used a “first come-first serve” site toward the back of the campground. The views were incredible! Red rocks, bluffs, cattle grazing, etc. This was a nice quiet spot during the evenings, however, the only thing we found somewhat frustrating was how much vehicle traffic comes through the campground during the day due to hiking trails behind and around the campground. This made it somewhat difficult for the children to ride bicycles or just walk around. Sites were very affordable. Food rack over the fire place made food prep easier! Overall a great experience and we would come back in the future.
Apr 28, 2025 · Harmony NellThis campsite is excellent! Beautiful scenery. Clean, nicley laid out. Several hikes around and rock climbers. $21.00 a night. Easy touchscreen kiosk with credit card tap and insert. We also used first come, first served. Nice firepit and big sturdy table. Restrooms are clean. Very happy here!
May 11, 2025 · Kelly FilaskyScenic, remote, mild climate with quiet low ambient light nights. The rock climbing is within easy hiking distance.Individual campsites cost $20/night, group sites are $40. Sites 16-32 are first come, first served. Sites 1-15 are reservation only via recreation.gov. The kiosk only takes credit cards. No cash. Quiet time is 10pm-6am. Enjoy!
Oct 11, 2024 · Chuck OdetteWe really enjoyed this campground. Each site had a tent pad. The one for our site was behind some trees in the corner, so we didn't find it until after the first night. There were some cool trails that go up by the cliffs. There was also a pit toilet. The price per night was really reasonable, although you have to book online through recreation.gov
Jul 17, 2022 · Sarah BedellWe highly enjoyed this campground. Breathtaking views, clean campsites with fire rings, hiking trails, rock climbing galore and a vault toilet. And it was cost effective. My only complaint would be that the per night stay is $7...but then there was a $8 fee to book the site on Rec.gov. why not just make it $15 per night? Add on fees are frustrating.
