Sampson Springs Campground Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay. Lori and Reg were great to talk to and let us know everything about our stay. They currently do not have a dump station or garbage dumpster on site. We took ours to Waukon Campground and, for $5, were able to use their facilities. It was very peaceful where we were located and they had additional showers and tolets near the house.
Sep 29, 2024 · Wander AmericaGreat campground and host is very friendly. They were able to fit me in for two nights for some trout fishing. Quiet and nice campground near some great trout streams. Electric and internet at sites.
Oct 18, 2024 · Nathan SmitWe really enjoyed our short stay there. the owners were super nice. Gave us a few good ideas of where to go. Campers meet around 5 o'clock for BYOB cocktails. Lots of friendly people who stay set up all season. No trash service. showers were dated but very clean. We would stop by again if we ever go back that way.
Mar 09, 2024 · Colleen FesslerThe owner is a prick. Reservation only. It is not a friendly place if you come across it looking for camping. We stopped but wanted to back out as soon as we saw the camping arrangements and when we went to turn around the guy came being a complete prick telling us to turn around and leave. Tried explaining to him that that's what we were doing anyway because that's not our type of camping he turned red and became more of a prick. Listen to the bad reviews, they are true.
Aug 10, 2024 · Angela DoudCalled last minute on a Friday morning.. as we decided spur of the moment to head to the Decorah area. Have driven by SSC before while fishing Trout River (which is across the road). Lady on the phone was extremely friendly. Said she had one spot left. Got up there around dinner time. Other then the seasonal campers… she had plenty of room left. But call ahead as I’d imagine it can get full. We must of been lucky because plenty of spots left. It’s a close knit group of long term seasonal campers there it seemed. But all were friendly the brief interactions we had.Extremely nice and friendly owners. Don’t let the few negative reviews on here deter you. Follow the posted speed limit on the grounds (5 mph) and if checking the place out for potential futurevisit stop at the office first as the sign states at the entry. Cash or check ONLY. $26/night electric. Firewood available. Electric and tent sites. Showers and bathrooms on site but up by the office. Extremely clean facility and clean grounds. Nice covered “Alice’s”barn/outdoor barn area where they have a “happy hour” with anyone on the grounds welcome to come. BYOB though. Nice hiking trails on the property up into the hillside. Cell service is very low and spotty if that’s your thing(in a valley). About 10 miles east of Decorah.
