For Pennsylvanians yearning for a true escape into the wild, where peace and privacy are paramount, RoundStone Camping Resort in Weatherly offers an unparalleled experience. Tucked away on nearly 400 acres of breathtaking forest in the heart of the Pocono Mountains, this resort provides a unique blend of rustic charm and essential comforts. Unlike larger, more bustling campgrounds, RoundStone specializes in offering secluded sites and cozy cabins, ensuring that guests can truly disconnect from the demands of everyday life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. It's a place where the sounds of the stream replace city noise, and starry nights are illuminated only by your campfire. Whether you're an avid angler, a passionate hiker, or simply someone looking to unwind in a pristine natural setting, RoundStone Camping Resort is designed to deliver a memorable and refreshing outdoor adventure that feels worlds away, yet is conveniently located for locals.
RoundStone Camping Resort is nestled at 165 Ochre Mill Rd, Weatherly, PA 18255, USA. This prime location places it within Carbon County, in the stunning Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania. For residents across the state, particularly those in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, the resort offers excellent accessibility, typically within a few hours' drive. Its secluded nature means it's a true getaway, but it's not so remote that it becomes difficult to reach.
The resort’s proximity to major roadways in the Poconos ensures a relatively straightforward journey. Once on the property, guests will navigate primarily on gravel roads, which adds to the rustic charm and sense of seclusion. While a 2WD vehicle is generally sufficient for access to cabins, this information reinforces the "off-the-beaten-path" feel.
Despite its private setting, RoundStone Camping Resort is conveniently located near several popular attractions in the Pocono Mountains. The historic town of Jim Thorpe, known for its charming shops, dining, and outdoor activities like white water rafting and rail-trails, is only about 12 minutes away. This allows guests to easily combine a peaceful camping experience with excursions to explore local culture and adventure sports. Nearby natural attractions like Lehigh Gorge State Park and Mauch Chunk Lake offer additional opportunities for hiking, biking, and water activities, making RoundStone a well-situated base for exploring all that the beautiful Pocono Mountains have to offer.
RoundStone Camping Resort focuses on providing essential services that enhance a rustic, nature-centric camping experience. While it doesn't offer the "fancy frills" of some larger resorts, its amenities are carefully curated to ensure comfort and convenience amidst the wilderness.
- Diverse Accommodations:
- Rustic Cabins: These are described as "enclosed sheds" that feel like "cabins," offering a step up from tent camping. They typically include electricity, a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, water cooler (for hot and cold spring water), a space heater, 110 amp outlets, a ceiling fan, and a table with chairs. They also come with a fire pit outside. It's important to note that cabins do not have indoor plumbing; instead, they utilize outdoor shower facilities (available May-October only) and Porta-Johns. Guests need to bring their own linens, pillows, bedding, dishware, and cooking utensils.
- Primitive Tent Sites: Secluded and tucked away in the forest, these sites offer peace and privacy. Each tent site includes a fire pit and a picnic table. There are no water or shower facilities directly at tent sites, with guests utilizing shared Porta-Johns.
- No RV or Pop-Up Sites: This campground specifically caters to cabin and tent campers, not RVs or pop-ups.
- Contactless Check-in: Upon booking, guests receive directions to their site, streamlining the arrival process.
- Firewood: Available for purchase on-site, essential for campfires.
- Dumpster Access: For garbage disposal, encouraging guests to keep their sites clean.
- Outdoor Shower Facilities: For cabin guests (May-October only).
- Porta-Johns: Available for all sites, requiring guests to bring their own toilet paper.
- Pet-Friendly: Leashed pets are welcome, with a pet fee for cabin rentals.
- Seclusion and Privacy: The campground deliberately keeps the number of guests low to ensure peace and privacy for all campers.
- Responsive Host: As indicated by reviews for similar Hipcamp listings (where RoundStone is often listed), hosts are typically responsive to questions and concerns.
RoundStone Camping Resort stands out for its unique blend of rustic charm and a deep connection to nature, offering several key features and highlights that make it a memorable destination for Pennsylvanians.
- True Seclusion and Privacy: This is a major highlight. With sites and cabins "tucked away on nearly 400 acres," guests are assured a high degree of privacy. As one review noted, "Sites are so secluded that you're not likely to run into any of the other campers," making it perfect for a truly quiet and undisturbed retreat.
- "Shed-like" Cabins with a Cabin Feel: The "Meadow View site" and other cabins, described as "enclosed shed but really feel like a cabin," offer a comfortable step above traditional tent camping. They are "clean and well maintained," providing essential amenities like electricity, mini-fridges, and microwaves, allowing for a "glamping" experience without being overly luxurious. The inclusion of a private fire pit enhances the authentic camping feel.
- Excellent Fishing Opportunities: The presence of the "beautiful Quakake Stream" running through the grounds, "full of trout," makes RoundStone a prime spot for anglers. The opportunity for "fishing" is a recurring positive theme in reviews.
- Beautiful Hiking and Biking Trails: Guests can "explore" groomed "hiking and biking trails" directly on the property, allowing for immersive nature walks and outdoor exercise right outside their cabin or tent.
- Direct Stream Access: Many sites and cabins offer easy access to the stream, allowing guests to "fish for trout, swim," or simply relax by the water. The "Waterfall cabin," with the stream and waterfall "right outside your door," exemplifies this direct connection to nature.
- Rustic Charm and Back-to-Nature Vibe: RoundStone embraces a more "primitive" and "rustic" camping style, appealing to those who genuinely want to escape modern distractions and enjoy the "great outdoors." It's intentionally "not the fancy frills" kind of place, promising a genuine wilderness experience.
- Pet-Friendly: The welcoming policy towards dogs means that guests can bring their beloved canine companions along for the adventure, enhancing the family camping experience.
- Proximity to Pocono Attractions: While secluded, RoundStone is conveniently located near popular Pocono destinations like Jim Thorpe, offering opportunities for whitewater rafting, historical tours, and dining when desired.
Information about specific, publicly advertised promotions or special offers for RoundStone Camping Resort is not widely available through general searches, as is common for smaller, more unique, and privately run camping destinations that prioritize a secluded experience. The resort's focus appears to be on providing a consistent, high-quality, and tranquil experience rather than frequent promotional deals.
However, it is always recommended for interested Pennsylvanians to directly contact RoundStone Camping Resort to inquire about any current or upcoming offers. While unlikely to feature large, broad discounts like bigger resorts, they might occasionally have:
- Off-Season Rates: Special pricing for stays during quieter periods, such as early spring or late fall, when the demand might be lower but the natural beauty remains.
- Extended Stay Discounts: For guests looking to book for a longer duration, there might be a reduced nightly rate.
- Repeat Visitor Incentives: As indicated by a review ("looking forward to coming back"), repeat guests might be offered a small courtesy discount or priority booking.
- Mid-Week Specials: Potential lower rates for bookings that avoid peak weekend times.

RoundStone Camping Resort Reviews
We stayed in the Meadow View site. It's an enclosed shed but really feels like a cabin. The shed and the site are both clean and well maintained and the grass was freshly mowed. Great place to stay and we're looking forward to coming back.
Jun 15, 2025 · Eric ChristensenMost memorable camping trip with my wife EVER! Great cabin, fishing, hiking, and camp fire food. HIGHLY recommend!!
May 18, 2025 · Robert BoltonMy family and friends stayed at RoundStone twice( 2023 + 2024). We loved the campsites so much the first time we had to book it again but this time with the additional for the cabins.Campsites:There’s a good amount of space between the campsites! Site 1 is large and spacious. Site 2 has a great deal of canopy cover. Site 3 has a nice nook and close access to the stream, which is relaxing to hear at night.Cabins (waterfall and buckhorn)Rustic and clean. There are also outdoor showers which are great for a quick rinse off (it’s camping so don’t expect the quality of a 5 star hotel but it was PERFECT for a quick 5 min rinse off).We did see a bear or two but they weren’t an issue. You don’t bother it won’t bother you but it was great to see them! Lots of other wildlife- chipmunks, salamanders, frog, deer, bugs! The host were very responsive and accommodating for our group. Some of the people in our group were first time campers but LOVED the campground. There are also port o potties between the sites!
Jul 01, 2024 · Asia SwiftWe really enjoyed our stay in the waterfall cabin! The cabin was warm and cozy. The trails at the site were also beautiful. We went in December and enjoyed ourself!
Jan 19, 2025 · Kara ZatinaThis is an incredible patch of private land that the owner's rent out as a tent/cabin campground. Sites are extremely well spaced and this a great destination for anyone looking for a tenting or bare-bones cabin trip. There was no running water when we went (winter camping!) but the heaters got the job done in the cabin. We will definitely be back and had a great experience exploring the area. Communication was easy and regular, a great time!
