Red River Gorge Campground Reviews
Best campground in Kentucky!!! If you are in the red river gorge area, I highly suggest I camp here. Beautiful views and the best camp host anyone could ask for. Brought firewood right to our site and truly did everything they could to go above and beyond. Even the geese families make u feel welcomed!!!The road in is a windy gravel road with steep inclines/declines. Definitely is a "mountain road" so you'll need a strong vehicle; but it is well worth it!!!!
Jun 19, 2025 · Nikki Trochil (Nikki)My best friend and I stayed here on the first night of our week-long road trip — and it was not only our first night of the trip, but our first time camping ever. We booked it super last-minute, but from the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness and warmth from the people running it.The campground is tucked away in a beautifully remote area, and the peacefulness was unlike anything we’re used to (we're from the city!). That night, we were the only campers there, and they set us up at their personal favorite spot — right next to a gentle creek. The sound of the water mixed with the nighttime calls of wildlife was so calming, it literally lulled us to sleep. What made it even more unforgettable was the tree line surrounding our site — it lit up with fireflies after sunset and honestly felt like something out of a movie. We felt so safe, so welcomed, and completely taken care of. They even made sure we knew they were around to help with anything we needed. This campground ended up being one of the best places we stayed all week. It made our first night of camping feel magical — peaceful, beautiful, and full of kind people. We’d absolutely come back again. If you’re passing through Kentucky and looking for a quiet, special place to camp — this is it.
Jun 28, 2025 · Marie OliveriAbsolutely beautiful property! Very clean, porta toilets were clean and Tim the host was very kind in helping me pick the perfect spot for shade. He delivered firewood and checks on things periodically to make sure things are going smoothly and safely. I highly recommend this campground and will visit again. Unfortunately my stay was cut short due to a storm rolling in.
Aug 01, 2024 · Christina MonhollenThis campground is ideal if you enjoy primitive riverfront camping and want a base camp relatively close to the Red River Gorge scenic loop. The spots are scattered along a sand riverbank bed with fire rings. There are 3 port o potties very clean. You should probably bring everything you need. The owner Tim is an extremely nice man and provides helpful information. I loved that there was so much space and that I was basically alone and felt very safe camping here. I highly recommend this great value campground for exploring the Red River Gorge geological area!
Mar 22, 2025 · R CGreat campground. We asked for a riverfront site and they gave us a gorgeous site right on the River. Sites a large and spaced out with a picnic table and fire ring. We didn’t explore the property as we only spent 1 night but what we saw was well maintained. The owners are great, they helped with car issues and offered hiking recommendations. I’d go back without hesitation next time we visit the gorge.
