The park encompasses 741 acres, with the campground nestled between Stump Lake and Punderson Lake, providing a serene lakeside environment.
Punderson Lake itself is a geological marvel, being the largest and deepest natural kettle lake in Ohio, formed by a massive block of ice left behind by receding glaciers. This unique natural feature contributes significantly to the park's appeal. While the park feels like a true natural escape, it remains easily accessible. The address leads directly into the state park, where clear signage guides visitors to the campground. The park office is located at 440-564-2279 and is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm for any inquiries about directions or park access.
The accessibility extends beyond just driving. The park boasts 14 miles of hiking trails, suitable for various skill levels, allowing campers to explore the diverse landscapes. In the winter, its location within Ohio's "snow belt" means ample snowfall, transforming it into a premier destination for sledding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing, with dedicated trails and even a lighted sledding hill with a tow rope at the Chalet.
- Diverse Campsite Options: The campground features 167 sites with 20-amp electric service, and 20 full-service sites offering 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Three group sites with 20-amp electric service are also available, accommodating up to 25 people each.
- Well-Maintained Facilities: Reviewers consistently praise the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities, including flush toilets and shower houses.
- Potable Water and Dump Station: Water spigots are located throughout the campground, and a convenient dump station is available for RV campers. Note that water and sewer services are typically not available during the winter season (November - March).
- Pet-Friendly: Pets are welcome at the campground, though they must be kept on a leash at all times, and owners are expected to clean up after them. Pets are not permitted on swimming beaches.

- Picnic Facilities: Several picnic areas with tables and grills are found in scenic locations throughout the park.
- Reservable Shelterhouse: One shelter is available for reservations near the marina, or on a first-come, first-served basis if not reserved.
- Punderson Lake Activities: The 150-acre Punderson Lake is a central feature, allowing electric motors only for boats. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, canoeing (rentals available at the marina concession), swimming at the 600-foot public beach, and fishing for bluegill, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and catfish.
- Premier Winter Sports Park: Punderson State Park is Ohio's top destination for winter activities, including a lighted sledding hill with a tow rope, cross-country skiing on six miles of multi-use trails, snowmobiling on designated trails (Beach, Erie, and Iroquois Trails), and ice fishing on Stump Lake and Pine Lake (Punderson Lake itself often doesn't fully freeze).
- Golf Course: The park boasts an 18-hole championship golf course, open to the public seven days a week (reservations recommended for weekend play).

Punderson State Park Campground Reviews
Great campground. Good sized sites for multiple tents
May 19, 2025 · Todd FogleLovely campground and state park. Electric sites easy to pull into. Facilities very well maintained. Staff were very nice. Little beach and lake to kayak or swim. Sites are a bit more "friendly" than I prefer but this is a nice place for a family. It doesn't have huge sites but a nice get a way for a few days. I would return here.
