While the campground caters significantly to long-term residents, including a notable emphasis on caring for veterans in transition, it also welcomes short-term visitors. The dedication of its staff, particularly a key individual like Gina, is frequently highlighted by guests as a defining positive aspect, reflecting a deep commitment to customer service and community well-being. This overview will delve into the specifics of Pueblo West Campground, detailing its amenities, features, and why it might be the ideal spot for your next Colorado adventure, whether for a quick stop or an extended stay.
Pueblo West Campground is conveniently located at 480 E McCulloch Blvd, Pueblo West, CO 81007, USA. This address places it within Pueblo West, a vibrant community situated on the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains. The campground's location offers excellent accessibility and serves as an advantageous hub for exploring much of South-Central Colorado.
Its position directly on a main boulevard in Pueblo West means easy access from major highways, making it simple for RVs and other vehicles to navigate to the property. This is a significant plus for travelers who appreciate straightforward entry and exit without dealing with challenging terrain or remote, unpaved roads. The campground's urban-adjacent location also means that essential services and conveniences are just a short walk or drive away. Reviewers note "shopping just a walk away," providing easy access to groceries, supplies, and other necessities.
Beyond immediate conveniences, Pueblo West Campground boasts a prime location relative to a wealth of Colorado attractions:
Royal Gorge: Approximately a half-hour drive away, the Royal Gorge near Cañon City offers stunning scenery, local history, and thrilling activities like zip-lining, skydiving, aircraft scenic tours, and the iconic Royal Gorge Bridge.
Colorado Springs & Pikes Peak: Also about a half-hour away, these destinations provide access to world-famous landmarks such as Garden of the Gods, the summit of Pikes Peak, and numerous other attractions in the Colorado Springs area.
Lake Pueblo State Park: Located just 8 miles from the campground, Lake Pueblo State Park offers extensive opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, and biking on its vast water body and surrounding trails. There's even a special mention of the Liberty Point Memorial, above the lake, offering stunning panoramic views for veterans and all visitors.
This strategic location allows visitors to choose between a relaxing stay at the campground or engaging in a wide array of "exciting extreme fun" in the area's many venues. The accessibility and proximity to diverse attractions make Pueblo West Campground an excellent base for experiencing the best of Southern Colorado.

Cabins: Beyond RV sites, Pueblo West Campground also offers cabins for accommodation, providing an alternative for those without an RV or seeking a different type of stay. Reviewers specifically mention cabins being available, sometimes after a waiting period.

WiFi: The site includes WiFi, which is a valuable amenity for staying connected, managing travel plans, or remote work.
It is important to note some limitations mentioned by reviewers:
Showers for Full-Time Tenants Only: While restrooms are available, showers are reportedly restricted to "full time" tenants, which could be a significant drawback for short-term visitors.
No Propane or Convenience Items: The office does not sell propane or other convenience items, meaning campers need to plan ahead for these necessities.
Varying Site Amenities: Some sites may lack picnic tables, indicating that campers should inquire about specific site features when booking if these amenities are important to their stay.

This can sometimes affect the priority given to short-term booking inquiries, as noted by past guests who experienced difficulty getting immediate answers on availability.
Despite these points, the range of amenities, especially the unique offerings like horse boarding and the bike/motocross track, makes Pueblo West Campground a distinctive option.

Its strategic location is also a major draw. Pueblo West Campground Reviews
Lived here for MANY years as a war era veteran in transition from homelessness - after a hit and run driver almost killed me over 5 years ago........ after I stopped in to tell them my story and inquire about prices, Gina made sure that I was on the reservation list for a cabin. (I had just gotten a job at Goodwill, but was living in my pickup truck). After a few months of living in my truck (in winter) & working at Goodwill, Gina called me with the news of an available cabin! I was sure I had been forgotten (like all the other times), BUT NO!! - Pueblo West Campground is run by people who really care about people....Having said that, GINA is your customer service contact. (Trust no one else).Pueblo West Campground is currently under updates and improvements all across the property. I see major investments in all of the grounds & facilities - and it shows.Pueblo West Campground is a nice RV park that also has horse boarding, a bicycle & motocross track, a quiet & safe environment, with a strong "neighborhood watch" security, - and shopping just a walk away....If you're passing through, check them out. No disappointments.Right on the foothills of the Rocky mountains. A 1/2 hour from the campground & full of the local history of the West, Canyon City's Great River Gorge is a place to explore, take stunning pictures, aircraft scenic tours, zip lining or skydiving at the Gorge! Colorado Springs & Pike's Peak are 1/2 hour away, but if you want to stay local, there is bicycle/hiking trail access from the RV park. Pueblo Lake State Park allows awesome days or weekends on the water, on the trails and bike paths, with camping available as well. While there, make sure to go to the Liberty Point Memorial for veterans that is located above the lake with stunning scenic vistas in every direction.A beautiful area summer or winter, good, trustworthy people, a VERY dedicated staff, and your choice of a slow, relaxing stay - or exciting extreme fun in the area's many venues...well worth your stay!SEE GINA!(No one else compares)
Apr 17, 2025 · Jim DunawayAs far as a campground goes, this place is fine. If you are looking for a place to say with a place to board your horses, it's probably great. But they are more focused on the long term tenants than short term stays. When we were calling in to book our stay, we could not get an answer as to rather they had a spot for us or not over the coarse of 3 calls and we could not get a call back. Once we did get an answer, we were grateful to find a place when short term RV parks are pretty hard to find in the area. We did find that the face to face service was better than on the phone, but still not a high priority. There is a laundry room with restrooms. But if you want to use the showers, you need to be full time. No propane, no convenience items for sale in the office, the playground is ancient and in poor condition, and our spot did not have a picnic table.
May 23, 2023 · Sherri MonsonDont pay attention to the negitive reviews! If you follow their park rules (that YOU sign) its a very comfortable & clean campground. We stayed here for a year due to my husband's job & absolutely loved it! The owners & their manager Gina are so wonderful and love having a chat and actually getting to know the guests staying there which made it feel like I was in a neighborhood!. The owners are out there everyday updating the cameras, lighting, play area, and cabins. Dogs must be in your small RV fencing or always on a lead & you must be with them when outside! Check in & out is super smooth. 10/10 would recommend when in the area! We preferred this over the KOA & it's way closer to town.
May 16, 2025 · Abby MattsenNice campground for a couple of days. Full hook ups. Staff very friendly. Has laundry, bathrooms and trash bins. Level, gravel sites with 20/30/50 amp service. Will definitely stay next time we are in town.
Mar 16, 2025 · Denise “Nesie54” VogelI would give it zero stars if allowed anyway where do I start 1st things 1st they do not and I mean do not give a damn about anyone or anything except money this place is a prime example of pay me and shutup! Took me a week of calling 3 times a day to get anyone to answer or respond to my emails! The cabins are cheap but it's super deceiving as they make you pay a deposit via cash or credit and then will not give you the money back cash or credit it's in the form of a check mailed to you months later! They are very picky between short time tenants and long term they complained about a tiny grill I had outside when all the long term tenants literally have outdoor swings make it make sense! I had 2 situations where I called the 24/7 emergency contact for help and they refused to help one was my spicket frozen over and the other was I had a loss of power at shore I couldn't even get them to come look at it had to call a contractor to come fix it! They also do things to your camper without a notice or heads up such as shutting your water off to your camper or heat lamps they are allowed but I guess if they get tired of seeing something they just go take care of it themselves without a notice! They also threatened to kick us out several times over petty things like dripping in -18° weather or having a realities visit and having 3 cars parked by my camper instead of the allowed 2! This place is cheap but you get what you pay for I highly recommend biting the bullet on another spot if you can this place will be nothing but headaches something nobody wants to deal with especially with the headache of RV living already!
