Prairie Flower Campground Reviews
Friendly workers. Clean and manicured facility. Lots of dump stations. Potable water pumps throughout the park. Noon checkout time is too early. 25'ish miles to the High Trestle Bridge. HTB Trail is awesome and has lots of fun stop offs and a few bathrooms along the way. Can start the trail in Ankeny which is only 5-8 miles eastward from Prairie Flower.
Jun 11, 2025 · M Williams-JonesPrairie Flower campground was recently updated (2023) with major improvements. In spring of 2024 parts of the park were hit with weather related events that destroyed a lot of trees around sites. But regardless, we love coming/staying at this campground.
Jul 09, 2024 · Russell CobleSince I don't own an oversized luxury camper, I probably looked like the Beverly Hillbilly from California until the trailer park boys moved in across the road. First off the campground is Prairie Flower; therefore, I had to search for the flowers. The trails are very well marked and there are a few splendous varieties to be seen. The campground is spacious to be sure. I was in slot B38 and there was plenty of room for expansion. All sites have electric. With my parks discount I only spent 11$ a night. Can't beat that price even though I really have no need for the electric. Sites don't have many shade trees directly. But, there are trees and I spent time chasing the shade. The heat was directing my exertion level and erecting the screen house seemed like too much sweat. I didn't have bug issues. The northern loop sites looked like modern day wagon train groupings. And the volleyball court was very well groomed. Large oversize play equipment for children.
Jul 23, 2022 · Debbie Drives and TravelsThis is an excellent Army Corp Campground. We got a site large enough for our 43 ft diesel Motorhome. Close to Des Moines.Beautiful lake. We had a great 3 day stay.Visited Des Moines, Toured the State Capital. Had great dinners. We will definitely come back.
Nov 07, 2022 · RV TravelerThis campground is amazing! Spacious concrete pads. Really nice playgrounds. Very clean shower and bathrooms. Showers are spacious. Only downfall was no water hookups at the sites.
