Pioneer Family Campground, Inc. stands out as a top choice for a number of reasons that directly cater to the needs and desires of Indiana campers. Primarily, its value proposition is exceptional. While it may not have all the high-cost amenities of larger resort-style campgrounds, this is precisely what allows it to offer such a generous amount of space at an affordable price. As one camper wisely pointed out, "They can afford to have large sites at good prices as a result" of maintaining a focus on what truly matters: a comfortable, spacious, and friendly camping experience. This means you get more for your money—more room for your family, your gear, and your peace of mind.
The staff's reputation for being "super nice" and going the extra mile, such as by delivering wood and ice, is a significant differentiator. This level of customer service adds to the feeling of being welcomed and cared for, transforming a simple stay into a truly enjoyable experience. The personal touch makes all the difference.
For families, Pioneer is a clear winner. The "good for kids" atmosphere, complete with a playground and kid-friendly hikes, ensures that children will have a blast, which in turn allows parents to relax and enjoy their time. The on-site pond adds another layer of fun, providing a natural swimming and fishing spot that is easy to access. Furthermore, the ability to bring your dog means you don't have to leave a family member behind, making it a perfect spot for the whole crew.
Finally, the sense of community fostered through events like the hayrides for the 4th of July makes Pioneer more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it’s a place to connect with others and build shared memories. The blend of spacious tranquility, family-friendly amenities, and genuinely helpful staff makes Pioneer Family Campground a genuinely worthy choice for your next Indiana camping adventure. It’s a place where you can truly slow down, breathe, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the great outdoors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the best places to go camping! Unless you do the van life then it's definitely a place to visit! We camped and we had our water spicket and we had our own fire pit! The pond was close by walking distance. For the 4th of July they had a fun get together with activities in a hayride. The owner is super nice! The staff was very helpful and would deliver wood and ice to us as needed!I definitely recommend this place! Thanks for the awesome time!!!
July 08 · Christina KWe got a small seasonal campsite for a good price, but when I say small, I mean small for the campground. We've been to places where the campers are packed like sardines, even staggered front and back, just to have enough room to put out your awning. Comparatively, Pioneer is less expensive, and you actually have space to breathe. The downside of all that is comparatively fewer swrvices and amenities. You have to maintain your own site, and they don't have a pool, just a swimming/fishing hole. They can afford to have large sites at good prices as a result.
May 27 · Timothy CarletonMe and my wife are currently camping here at pioneer family campground the staff and the owners are above and beyond polite respectful and professional this place is beyond words very beautiful here you will be very pleased to camp here I will most definitely come back here a year after year with no questions asked I love it here 🤗
July 07 · Mike WineteerMy family and I stayed there 43 years ago prior to moving to Florida. It was a wonderful place to stay. Wonderful owners. I hope they still own it. Their daughter played guitar and sang for my children. They still remember it to this day.
January 14 · Gene SchulpMy son and I went tent camping -partial primitive (water no electric)- here on one of the hottest weekends of the year. The campground was nice & welcoming and the owners were very nice. We got to our site which was just about the perfect tent camping site: it was immediately near two others but was still secluded and had plenty of shade. It was flat and clear of brush with a nice picnic table and great fire ring, which we did use. We hiked the park and I can imagine it bustling on a holiday weekend. We enjoyed ourselves despite having to depart a day early due to personal medical complications from the heat. Sandy told me she would put a free night down in the record since we had to leave early. A very nice gesture! I didn’t ask for anything when we left and she seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being as well. All in all it is a quiet, relaxing campground with friendly people there and friendly people running it. We will be back, just not when it’s super hot and humid. I would like to visit on a holiday weekend and see if they have a list of activities and experiences.
